Terra Battle Catch-All

When do you start worrying about saving money for secondary jobs as opposed to spending coins on trying to draft people?

Pretty much always. The characters you get from the pact of friendship, the coin drafting, are mostly worthless monsters.

That said, there are a couple rare characters available from PoF. A good rule of thumb is to keep about 30k on hand and spend the rest.

I've been able to get up to Ch. 20 without really needing to worry about second and third jobs all that much, which is about the 2/3rds mark. The biggest bottleneck is going to be the items you need to do the job changes rather than the money. The game provides a nice cash flow just from the dailies, but item farming isn't really viable until you've unlocked the 2nd and 3rd hunting zones. First hunting zone doesn't have a good drop rate so I'd just ignore that once you open it.

I would at least do it to fill out any gaps you have in your armies (and obviously replace them once you get B or better heroes for those roles). Once you've got a pretty good menageries going I wouldn't really worry much about it until you're in the very late game and need monsters for the new Recode DNA stuff.

Does anyone have tips for the 18-10 boss? Hit that over the weekend and I couldn't crack it

I just got back from a big trip (Turkey, UK and South Africa) and had to share that I am astounded to have maintained my daily login streak (currently 121) through the whole thing. On top of that, I saved up enough energy to do the recent special Pact of Truth event while staying just outside the Kalahari...what a weird world. (Picked up Gaiga, Burbaba, A'merpact and Kem) Have to give props to our T-mobile plan for free (though slower) data and texts without a single change in our plan. To top it off, on the return layover I picked up Leviathan from the Arena event too! As long as we had solid data this made for a good traveling game; something we could play while waiting for planes or after a long days sightseeing. For the time stuck in planes Xenoblade 3DS had me covered.

And Shop, I'm confused how you got to Ch 20 without beating 18-10 already...what am I missing? I'm still at 20 myself, since I've been wasting too much time leveling up my newbies.

I don't think I had touched the campaign in a while, so I thought I was further along than I actually was when I wrote that post a month ago

Congrats on getting Leviathan. The RNG wasn't liking me that weekend and I failed to get the drop. But at least I snagged Odin!

Exact same thing happened to me today when I started chapter 21 and immediately realized I'd already opened up 21!

Thanks, you as well! Bel got Bahamut right after I landed Leviathan, so clearly they are all gettable. No idea how to get the item for job advancement though...is that a different drop from the special Arena events, I'm guessing?

The item for job advancement drops from the tier 2 and 3 Arena events, with a greater chance of it dropping from the tier 3 one.

Second tier fights aren't messing around either. 2nd form Bahamut completely wiped my party in two turns or less like it was nothing.

Yup. I had a couple of go's at the second tier Odin a few weeks back to try and rustle up the job change item. With a team of 3rd jobbers in the 50s and 60s. And got wiped.

New patch out today, with some interesting strategy implications:

[About Adjustments to Slumber]
- In previous versions, receiving damage while asleep would undo the Slumber effect, but now only direct pincer attacks will wake the target. Damage from Skill Attacks will not remove the effects of Slumber.

[About Adjustments to Blade, Strike, and Arrows type skills]
- For Blade, Strike, and Arrows type skills, they previously dealt only Magic Damage, but now these skills deal Physical Damage in addition to Magic Damage. The Physical Damage will follow the laws of the Augment Circle (Sword>Bow>Spear>Sword).

So the Sleep status effect is harder to remove (that's good and bad) but that's a reasonable change in my book.

The Blade/Strike/Arrow change sounds really nice and should make those skills a bit easier to understand. Definitely a buff to the characters using them.

Yeah, those needed to happen. Sleep was mostly ineffective, particularly because my sleep inflicter (Rejin) hits a 3-column area with sleep. Then subsequent attacks would wake the targets up again, invalidating that status.

And honestly, I'd been assuming that the weapon skills had been working that way from the get go - what's the point of the circle of carnage if it didnt'?

It still applies when they're normally attacking in the pincer. It was just their elemental skills were strictly magic stat based before:

Elemental weapons
All elemental weapon skills have been buffed. Previously, they were doing x1, x2 or x3 elemental damage.
Now, they stil have the same elemental damage, but a small physical damage is added.
The mechanics is exacly the same as Koko Λ and Samatha Λ skills, but less powerfull.

So now, those skills will do:
- the same elemental damage as before, using MATK and the elemental strength/weakness
- a physical damage, using ATK and the caster's weapon for Circle of Carnage bonus
The exact new values are:

Tier 1 skills: x1 Elemental damage + x0.5 Physical damage
Tier 2 skills: x2 Elemental damage + x0.7 Physical damage
Tier 3 skills: x3 Elemental damage + x0.9 Physical damage

Koko Λ and Samatha Λ skill values are unchanged (x1.6 for both, and x2.6 for both)

The main implication for me is that it's less stupid to bring characters like Czekras and Zenzoze to fights where there's a lot of monsters with bows or swords but they don't have the opposite (or any) elemental affinities.

A new event went live tonight, featuring a new dragon: the Jade Dragon. It's in the arena like all the special encounters. Unlike all the other special encounters, this one has branching paths (similar to the Last Story cross-over event from a couple months ago) that are going to open up as more people defeat it over the next 9 days, and some additional rewards will be given out to the entire player base as the milestones are reached.

Currently only the first form is available, but you've got a 50% chance of recruiting the monster. Job change items I think are rewards in the possible branches that open up.

Thanks for posting about this Shop! I'd taken a bit of a break from mobile gaming and this was a good impetus to fire TB up again. I'm terrible at it, but I like the speed run weekly challenge they added too.

The speed run challenges have been interesting although I wish they had a notification when there's a new one available as I forget to check for them.

Jade Dragon event isn't too hard right now. Pack a team of spears and a healer and you're good to go, although shadow skills are definitely helpful if you're trying to clear quickly. Zenzoze is my MVP right now, as he's just wiping the floor with the boss with only his second job unlocked (although around level 50). At the current rate, second path should open up in the next 24-48 hours.
