Terra Battle Catch-All

Actually he'll kind of be dead weight for a long time before becoming much use, but still, nice to have all the boxes mentally checked for potential damage and magic types in my party.

I picked him up a while ago and that's pretty spot-on analysis

1.6 million downloads as of yesterday. So new music from Kenji Ito (Mana, SaGa series)

At the current rate, they'll hit 1.7 million next month which will get a new track from Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Mana, Mario RPG series)

Cool! Thanks for the link; I'm as interested in the way they are incrementally developing this game as playing it! I've slowed down a bit lately. Beldera hit a bit of a difficulty spike recently (can't recall what chapter she is on) but moved past it by grinding up to the 50s. I've not talked to her much more about her experience than that.

I'm really enjoying this, more so the deeper I get into it. Just got to Chapter 11, and the difficulty curve has ramped up nicely.

I got a couple of questions:

[list=1]
[*]I'm right in thinking that the Attack stat determines damage from pincers, and the Magic stat determines damage from special moves (like Megabow or Ice Blade)?
[*]I'm right in thinking that the above holds true for staff users as well? They just don't get the benefit/liability of the weapon triangle?
[*]Has anyone managed to get co-op working? I've tried getting into public rooms in the Arena, but I just get a "Room Not Found" message.
[*]Wanna try co-op'ing with me?

[list=1]
[*]Unless bow/sword/spear adventurers have an elemental ability I believe they only do physical damage. (e.g. Megabow)
[*]My sense is you are correct on both counts.
[*]Yes. You have to be using the same version of the game. I co-op'ed with my wife (me iOS, she Android...that should be a book title), and yes it was a private room.
[*]Would be happy to try at some point but I'm about to run to work. PM me a way I can contact you, maybe?

Been playing this for two weeks now and I'm hooked. I have my main party to lvl 25 at the moment. The highest characters I've unlocked so far are three A's.

Maybe we should make a Steam group if people want an easy way to coordinate co-op games?

Steam messaging works on the iOS Steam app, right?

If so, then I think that's a super idea.

I used your referral code WolverineJon

Here's mine: huac96Wp6cP2

Steam messaging works on the iOS Steam app. I've definitely used it when playing SolForge with other GWJers. Not sure if group messaging works though.

Here is my referral code: XWPiRhg6HwaD

Mine is: HTxKznpWkxZE
Beldera's is: brWc4GXXuuCv

The first 10 people to use these codes get some energy. If those same people get to (or got to) Chapter 3 the person who gave the code gets a bit of energy as well. Think that's how it works.

[edit]: looks like you can only enter one code at a time...no idea what the cool-down is on that.

Hmm.

So, it looks like you can only enter one referral code.

I think the idea is that you can only be referred once, but you can pass that onto up to 10 people. The intent is to be a way to entice more players in. So, I entered shoptroll's code and got my free energy, but now shoptroll is the person who "referred" me to the game, and no-one else can. However, I can refer other people, and when they enter my code, I'll get more freebies (once they've passed Chapter 3).

So, what i'm saying, is, don't everyone enter my code cos I posted it first - share the love!

And if you do entice someone else to play it, give them your code

PewPewRobo wrote:

It's probably a one-time only thing. The idea with these sort of things is that you're supposed to recruit your friends to play and have them use your code so you each get a little bit of a boost.

I was trying to nudge us toward a "post your code and redeem the person above you" system but I should've been more explicit when I redeemed WJ's code and posted mine

Woah. I got a reward of 5 energy for entering your code, Jonman! I had no idea that feature was useful for interacting with existing players, rather than "inviting" (as the name implies) new players.

My code:

u93VMqtcdUHU - Used by Shoptroll!

OK, gang, let's get some referral codes circulating. Free energy and "other rewards" can be unlocked by getting them.

You can find yours and input other people's in Main -> Invite Friend.

Mine is:

myykYcX4vmWK used by WolverineJon

Confused; thought I'd already redeemed a code from Beldera before this but I guess not. Anyhow, not realizing it was a one-time thing I redeemed Jonman's code. If you check your 'Invite Friend' page you'll see how many people you've invited; they get 10 uses each so no need to scratch the code off in this thread until then.

Hmph. The 10 energy I got from the referrals resulted in 2 characters that I already have, a B and an A rarity. Poopy pants.

Heading into Chapter 12, here is my list of heroes:

SS - Zerro - 38/37/00
SS - Yukken - 37/37/33

Yikes. I'm in Chap 12 too, and you're way higher levelled than me. I don't have a single 3-class character, and not a single SS either (although I have plenty more A's, so maybe I jsut got shafted on the RNG). Did you just grind a helluva lot?

I got my first SS -- Samantha (spear) -- off the referral code energy from Jonman (referrer) and Shoptroll (referree), so thanks for that, guys!

The other character I got was the guy they apparently just added, Harold (bow / A class), so that was cool as well.

A little bit, for metal tickets to use in the Metal Zone Arenas. I started losing two or more folks near the end of a "paragraph" of a chapter and decided that it was putting a cramp on my enjoyment. Thanks to researching the wikia, I went on the hunt for metal tickets in Chapter 6 and filled my work commutes with "hunts", supplementing my podcast listening. I don't know of a strategy to recruiting SS heroes and lower. Any energy gained or gifted, I hoard and specifically use for hero recruitment. I've not spent any real currency on this game, only the mistake of using game coin to recruit "Monsters" I never used.

I don't think using in-game coin to recruit monsters is a mistake; you have a small chance to get an adventurer instead (and I have). It's just a good idea to keep enough coin on hand to add a job when you finally get the right material drops.

I'm definitely behind on job expansion. Are people grinding for materials quite a bit to do better at this?

Chapter 10

SS - A'misandra 29/-/-
S - Bonna 10/-/-
S - Pupropu 29/-/-
A - Ka'pori 20/25/-
A - R'zonand 30/-/-
A - Pahrl 30/-/-
A - Nakupi 23/-/-
A - Maralme 25/-/-
B - Bahl 31/1/-
B - Grace 25/30/-
B - Kuscah 23
B - Ba'gunar 25
B - Ra'prow 26
B - Zenzoze 27
B - O'pari 23
B - Gigojago 26

Yes, I've been playing pretty slowly. (Number of adventurers being a function of time.)

PewPewRobo wrote:

No, but I'm gonna start

So I'm now 5 for 5 Remedy mages on all my recent adventurer recruits

Spoiler:

(including Princess Palpa from chapter 10)

which is interesting. It certainly gives more flexibility when taking on particular enemy types, so I think it's actually fortunate.

Yesterday Bel and I tried cooping the Eidolon battles (with the 0 energy promotion thing going on) and got our butts handed to us. The setups are really interesting puzzles to approach but even after improving we were barely able to summon an Eidolon once or kill a single 'fodder' enemy. I'm also clearly not cut out for the co-op; the timer totally stresses me out and I find I'm just not capable of making good tactical decisions that fast. It makes me very glad that such timers don't exist in the single-player game at all, otherwise I'd be done long ago. Sadly I think that means I'm not going to be much of a co-op partner for any of you others looking to connect. Bel on the other hand is super good at it and I'm sure she would appreciate someone who is less bad at it than me!

Also, the 1.7 DownloadStarter goal was hit recently so there is a new track to download.

I rolled my third SS character yesterday, Gaiga the alluring archer girl. Her stats aren't great compared to other SS characters but she has some death arrows that insta-kill non-bosses so she seems worth levelling. Also, bad stats for an SS are still great compared to all the A and B scrubs I have.

Except for S'naip, that guy is an absolute murder machine. His A rank is secretly a buff because his stats are stronger than most SS guys but he lvls up at the speed of an A character.

Oh S'naip!

Huh, I think I've been passing over S'naip in favor of other characters. Will have to give him more time in the main party.

Also, that new track is classic Shimomura. Starts out like something from Parasite Eve, ends on Kingdom Hearts boss music. Love it

In case you haven't logged in today, you should do so before the 12th to redeem some cool stuff in celebration of...

So humble. But deserved, and who am I to look give energy and materials in the mouth?...or something. I recruited Samantha thanks to the extra energy, so I'm quite happy.

Just in case anyone else was initially confused about what PewPewRobo mentioned, for this promotion, the energy isn't automatically awarded to you; you have to enter a promo code in the Terra Battle app under Settings > Promo Code.

For your copy + paste pleasure (since the Terra Battle news section where the code is posted doesn't support clipboard operations -- at least on iOS), that code is:

Thanks for the clarification Jon - I was clearly not thinking clearly, leaving out the code!

In other news, not sure what's up with my gaming habits lately but Terra Battle is about the only thing I'm bringing myself to play. My pile keeps leering at me. Have to say though, TBattle (TerraB?) sure manages to consistently deliver satisfying bite-sized chunks of tactics-puzzle experience.
