As for the final choice
Just like there is no guarantee Chloe wont die over and over if you save here, there also isn't any guarantee that the storm wont keep reappearing at this point, no matter what you do. #TeamSaveChloe
Yeah I wanted to see if I enjoyed this free one I owned from PS+ before I bought any more. Looks like Before the Storm, 2, and True Colors all out there now. Not sure which I'll get next, or where. Probably wishlist and watch for sales.
LiS was my #3 game in 2019.
In 2020, Before the Storm was my #1.

LiS was my #1 GotY when it came out. BtS and True Colors are decent enough though neither hits the same highs as the original.
2 is utter garbage not fit for anyone capable of rational thought.
I saw True Colors on some '22 GotY posts so that's what got me into this mess that last few weeks.
Looks like the True Colors super duper edition is on sale for $40 and comes with LiS remaster and BtS remaster. So that's probably the cheapest way to get the 2 games I don't have that most seem to like.
I read mixed reviews of the remasters. But I think it was more a "if you have the original don't buy this, but if you've never played go for it". I guess there's other threads I could check without spoiling myself on the games.
BtS is nearly as good as 1 imo. Weaker on the "gameplay" of your characters ability, but for story and 'great moments', BtS was easily up there with 1.
Also, the DLC is mandatory, but I assume it is automatically there in the remaster.
I really didn't like 2.
True Colors + DLC is great. Not quite as good as 1 and BtS for me, but, hey, it is not a competition.

Certainly the impression I have gotten. It is a bit like Last of Us 2 in the sense of, 'did this really need remasters?' Only more so for BtS than 1.
Personally, True Colors including the DLC was my favourite by far, although I never played 2. It just felt more grounded and the town you resided in felt more real. Plus I spent my youth with headphones on all the time and wasn't in touch with my emotions so maybe I could relate to things more.
Hah yeah I was thinking about that the other day. From age 8 or 9 until 16 I had a walkman or discman everywhere. God knows how many batteries I used in the 90s. And then of course I had a car so the discman went in there to play through the tape deck. Good times.
LiS 1 and BtS left a huge impression on me, and after finishing both I felt so emotionally confused on what I should be feeling. I have not played 2, and I started True Colors but have stopped on episode 3 - I need to turn off motion blur so the movement will stop making me dizzy. What I have played of True Colors tho, I have enjoyed, and I agree that the town felt more real and like I had been to that mountain town.
The first game had, by far, the best gameplay gimmick. I think Before the Storm had a slightly better story than 1. True Colors is not as good as either of them but I would still recommend it. I agree with others about the setting.
I think Before the Storm had a pretty good story with some fine moments, until the later sections of Episode 3, when I assume someone came in with the note "Need higher stakes," and suddenly Chloe is trapped in a late-season episode of Sons of Anarchy.
True Colors has a lot to commend, and the town does look great, but I think the limited area and cast made it feel pretty stagey in my opinion--like what Park City wishes it still was.
I like 2 a lot, too, and I'll leave it at that.
I've continued reading the thread today after a break. Going through all of RNRClown posts from each chapter. Loving the reactions.
Also interesting that some of you did not like the idea of Before the Storm when announced. Guess I'll eventually get to some of you playing and coming around hehe.

LOL glad I didn't pull the trigger. I forgot back on Jan 1 I saw True Colors posted on CAG or Wario64 on Twitter. PS5 version on sale for $10. But it was out of stock, still honoring the price, and delivery estimated Feb 3. I must have just been starting Ch 1 but decided to take the risk, figuring I could cancel it in a month if I didn't like the original. But I forgot I even ordered it for weeks. Then yesterday I got a notice that it was arriving early, Jan 28 instead of Feb 3, and that reminded me that I even bought it. Hahaha.
So yeah, I guess I might go with that one next. Not sure you can upgrade the disc version to ultimate or anything, with the BtS included. But I'll investigate. Anyway looks like I might just skip ahead to that one next, since it's here.

Yeah, this hit me in the right time & place. Was my GOTY and I still think about it frequently.
If you consider yourself quite empathetic and/or have had a recent large loss in your life, True Colors plays on those notes quite well. Especially if you enjoy the nerdier things in life. Plus, the colors!
Definitely play the DLC for more juicy details about what happened in the first game with whichever ending you chose, as well as how it affected others (especially Steph). Also play it if you want another soundtrack to put in your regular rotation.
