Splatoon 1 & 2 & 3

Stinks how we got grouped up Stele and then the maps changed and kicked us out

Does anyone know if there's a way to allow people on opposing teams to talk to each other on the Nintendo switch app during the match ? Half the time I'm only ending up on one versus one games, so would be cool if we could talk.

No team cross talk. Nintendo has specifically stated that it splits voice between teams.

That's kind of puts one on the pros for using Twitch chat app instead. I mean we play Rocket League with a dozen people spread across two rooms and have a blast every Saturday night. We just want to have some fun.

Announcing Gamers With Job’s SplaTUESDAYS

I really want to try and get a regularly GWJ Splatoon match going so I’m organizing a Splatoon match on Tuesdays starting at 9:00 PM Eeastern Standard Time.

So tonight at 9:00 PM EST I’ll be setting up a Splatoon Room and inviting everyone who has the Switch App to come join if they feel like it. If you don’t have the Switch App we can try and figure out a way for you to join too. Hopefully having a regular set time will allow us to have larger matches against each other.

My Switch code is: 6320-3923-4232

See you Tuesdays starting 9:00 PM EST!

I think this is a good idea, but a couple of things.

1) if I'm getting an invite to a group on my phone every week that's going to get irritating real quick if I'm not actually playing the game.

2) groups are limited to 4 people right?

A better approach would be to just have people join you in Turf Wars and sit in Discord, Twitch, or Skype and have people drop in / drop out. That way you can get more GWJers playing in the game and people aren't required to have the app or be on voice.

Just out of curiosity, are people using twitch or discord more? I haven't been in voice-chat multiplayer for a while, and I just kind of defaulted to Twitch/Curse, but I could very easily be behind the trend.

From what I can gather you're all using Twitch, which just figures since I don't have it installed on my laptop. Guess I gotta get that set up.

I feel like this is worth emphasizing. If you're going to invite via the app, cross-reference who is online via the Switch and who is actively playing Splatoon 2. Otherwise you'll just end up irritating a lot of people that may be on the West Coast and just getting out of work or cooking up dinner or some such, or people spending time with friends or significant others, or etc. etc.

Twitch is great on PC and good enough on the app. I really don't want another freaking account to try to use Discord, especially since we've had an official GWJ Curse/Twitch channel with dedicated rooms for years now.

You can have full 8 players in the turf war room that ralls is suggesting. But apparently no easy way to add pubs to fill. So that leads back to pub takeover with Twitch chat. This is what we do for Rocket League every Sat night and it works fine.

For Salmon Run games though, private room with Nintendo app is probably best. Only need 4 people and can drop in/out easily. Also can search for 1 pub player if needed to fill spot.

I don't think groups are limited to 4 people. When I've tried to start a group there are the same number of spots open as any other match. Mind you, I've never actually gotten more than a couple people at the same time.

I'm not opposed to Discord, Twitch or whatever people want to use.

Salmon Run is easy to add pubs if you don't have 4. Just 1 button once you have your 2 or 3 in the room and then it will add pubbies.

I have Discord on my phone due to the gamerparent group, and have used the Curse mobile and desktop apps before, but uninstalled before the twitch switch and haven't done much voice this year up til now due to life. Am fine with either, assuming I can get my twitch account sorted out.

Yeah you can definitely have rooms completely full of friends. It's not limited like Salmon Run.

Tonight is a Salmon Run night. Might want some of that shiny new mining helmet action.

Man, got to 185% in Salmon run and then got bodied. Those flying ones with two garbage cans are the worrsssstttt.

I like how the weapons change as it makes the variety of boss types that much more interesting. For example, the one's that spawn a huge bomb on their head are pretty easy with a charger but challenging with these weapons.

Yeah 180% is about my peak. It's a blast anywhere above 150%. So many enemies.

SplaTUESday is on!

The one with the bomb on the head is far worse for me. I'm a lot faster at playing bombsketball than I am trying to gauge my distance to hit the bomb on the head before it lobs it an kills me.

Did I miss the games?

I'm playing Warrior

Got up to 195% on Salmon Run.

Saw your invite, but you were gone by the time I got home, kids in bed, and ready to play.

And I got your invite but was just hopping on for a single round before going to bed and I wanted to be sure I got some progress towards my pay rank as the last time I was in a group I didn't get any progress for the times we won but the game had no problem docking progress when we lost

Sorry I didn't sign on last night. Ended up having a movie night with my brother and old man and by time it was over I was sleepy-ish.

I've been working in the mornings towards increasing my competitive rank so I can partake in league battles. Achieved C+ this morning in Rainmaker. I wish I could have recorded the last match. Wielding the Rainmaker I had a little more than half of the map to travel and everyone was gathered in a chaotic mess directly ahead. I started to swim towards the longer but safer route, and it turned out that someone on our team had already painted a perfect path. So in a matter of seconds I traversed over half of the map unchallenged only to be the Knockout victor.

What's odd is I remember Ranked rewards being a lot higher before. However, if I want to level up my gear I'd do better in Turf Wars.

I think I don't know what to do with my money. Should I be buying a ton of stuff and just scrubbing it for ability chunks? I have like $300k in the bank and there's not really anything that I want to buy just to wear / use.

Buying clothes off of other players on the square can run up to 30k a piece that I've seen so far.

Ah! I've been so busy lately that I missed Splatuesday! I was hoping that something like this was going to be set up, I just didn't check the forums in time. I'll try my best to be there next week!

Also splatfest is apparently tallied by region. So ketchup will win North America but Mayo may win Europe or something.

In the past different regions have had different choices of 'team' for the Splatfest. So while North America had food, Japan would have music styles, and Europe something else.

Nintendo's solution: Just use your phone.

Wish I could send a message in the app. Ecarus-sorry I couldn't join you.

Lots of times I'm just playing casually for a round or two; wife in room, TV on. Would love to be able to let people know I'm not ignoring you purposefully.....
