Street Fighter V Catch-all!

Street Fighter V announced for PS4 and PC exclusively.

http://m.ign.com/articles/2014/12/05...

Considering I have the TE stick for the 360, I'll probably go PC.

I'll probably pick this up on PS4 but not at launch. I wonder how long until Super Street Fighter V is announced. When they made SF4 and Super SF4 separate games rather than an expansion they lost my release day purchase. I can't help but think Super Street Fighter V will be available on all platforms a year later.

That's Street Fighter for you

Can't help but think? That's not strong enough. It's an annual release, once the base game is released. It's just how they roll.

Here's the leaked trailer...

Since then, they've made the other updates as both standalone and DLC. Just to be fair.

I know next to nothing about what's new in V and yet I know I'll still buy it. I'm a sucker for this game.

Sold. 100% Sold. I have one of the new PS3/PS4 TE2 sticks coming as soon as they release, so I'll be playing on PS4. If there's enough interested people I'll revive our fight nights.

C'mon be honest ahrezmendi, is there any chance that you [i]wouldn't[b] be on board with this? From what I've noticed, you're on fighting games like white on rice.

I am on board, that's exactly what I said. Can't have a fight night of 1 person though, that's just me playing on PSN.

Wow, Street Fighter will not be on Xbox. That's pretty unfathomable. This 3rd-party exclusive nonsense is well past the point of being out of hand.

As mrwynd said, you can guarantee it'll land on Xbox eventually, especially since there's a PC version. It'll just be 6 months to a year later.

And why is it unfathomable?

It's the biggest fighting franchise of all-time and it's being advertised as unplayable by millions of people on Xbox Ones or 360s. You all are guaranteeing it will be on the platform eventually, and others imagine it will someday, but no one official has said it or will say it anytime soon.

Regardless of what actually happens, third-party exclusives of both the permanent and timed kind can go play hide-and-go-f*ck themselves IMO.

It's has to be a timed exclusive (also hopefully).

It would be very surprising if this stayed on PS4 and PC. Capcom aren't going to ignore millions of Xbox one owners. And durely the PC version would be similar to an Xbone one, anyway?

Both consoles are x86 based so PC version is already similar to both of them although the XBox probably shares similar APIs with Windows. Of course, no word yet as to whether or not they're supporting Linux...

Capcom are very good about ignoring millions of players on other consoles. Just ask Monster Hunter fans with Sony consoles.

Don't laugh. SteamOS is the future. Just as soon as they finish inventing the 360 controller again.

Interesting point, though is the comparison the same? I thought MH wasn't as mainstream a game in the West. With a franchise that's proven to sell across all formats in all territories, I think the situation might be different.

Or hop in a time machine and ask the SFII community how they felt about SNES exclusivity for SFII, SFII Turbo, and SSFII

My point is that's too early to know if PC means it's effectively the same as XBox version. No one knows what engine they're using. No one knows if they're targetting DirectX or OpenGL on the PC side. Or if they're using DirectInput or a different API.

Phil Spencer on why SFV is PS4 exclusive. TL;DR - Microsoft passed on it in favor of backing Killer Instinct, or that's the strong implication of his tweet.

Goes to show that it's not always the decision of the game maker.

Said not you in the Sunset Overdrive thread.

Or Dead Rising 3 on the One.

Seems like Capcom is making business decisions to release games as exclusives in order to get cash to develop them? That's my guess.

Or Microsoft is pushing them off the One. Like I just posted above.

That's your opinion, man. And I'm pretty sure that's what Phil Spencer wants people to think. Which means I probably don't think that's the whole truth there.

I agree we're not getting the whole truth (nor are we ever going to). I don't get why you think that's what Phil Spencer wants everyone to think. Wouldn't it be better for Microsoft to have people thinking that this was Capcoms decision?

Because he wants to create the impression that Microsoft was the one who decided not to have SF5 on the system in lieu of their own title. Maybe they did, though that seems incredibly shortsighted to me.

If it was Capcom's decision, then it takes the power away from Microsoft.

Edit: I just think Capcom seems to be doing these sorts of deals. Perhaps their financials aren't terribly strong. A quick search shows them to be profitable, though nothing is crazy profitable.

"It's not that she isn't interested in me, it's that I am not interested in her!"

Like garion said, it makes Microsoft look more powerful. They didn't lose a popular exclusive to Sony, they turned one down because they had better things going.

But really, if someone at Microsoft turned down Street Fighter V in favor of Killer Instinct, they should be fired.

I see. Twist Capcom's announcement of exclusivity into promoting their support for Killer Instinct.

I can't find a link thanks to all the news now being about the SF5 announcement, but I recall Capcom at one point saying that SF5 wouldn't be happening at all or at least for quite a while because of financials. That's all hearsay now though.
