Marvel Puzzle Quest GWJ Alliance?

Thanks for the tip, I've already used that to focus down the more dangerous enemy in a few fights.

Is there any reason to hold onto recruit tokens? And what are some good ways to get coins for a few more roster spots?

Standards, no real reason to wait. Heroics, only if there's a particular three star hero (or few heroes) that you want, or a few that you don't want. The three star options from the Heroic tokens rotate each month. Special events, no real reason to wait.

The most consistent way to get hero points is through the occasional daily chest reward, either the scheduled ones or as a random draw. Every 10 days is guaranteed points, at day 51 it's 50, at day 61 it's 100, and it keeps popping back and forth 50/100 beyond that. Last i checked, you could also earn a few in the prelude chapters if you go back to a few of the fights and try for some of the other rewards. Otherwise you'd need to place in the top 100 or so in a given event, or earn them as progression rewards in a given event.
Or you can always buy some. It's the premium currency in a free to play game, it's going to be a pain in the ass to collect by definition.

I didn't know they came as a daily drop reward, thanks.

Apparently if I want to get a ton of 3 star drops all I have to do is delete that hero from my roster to make room for someone else and then suddenly cards for the guy I just deleted will start raining down on me like nobody's business. That happened to me with Daredevil and Sentry. With Sentry I deleted him because I needed the space and I hated the fact that his specials damaged his own team. After dropping him I got, no lie, 4 drops of his 3 star card within 2 days.

*edit* Does anyone have any favorite team combos? Ones that complement each other well like Blade, Luke Cage and the Falcon. That group is just nasty once they get rolling. Blade generates attack gems, Cage generates defense gems and Falcon buffs both the attack and defense gems. Once they've gotten rolling for a few rounds they can wipe out opposition with just regular attacks while barely taking a scratch. Now if I could only level those guys up some more.

Today I roll over daily chest #400 =) I play this far too much.

Are there 1 to 3 star versions of each character? Or do certain characters only show up at certain ratings?

I don't have a wide array of characters yet, but so far my favorites are Black Widow and Moonstone. Black Widow's 4 turn stun skill is really useful, and I've created more than my share of 5 chains using Moonstone's warp skill.

I haven't seen any indication that each character has a 1 to 3 star version but I know some characters have versions all over the place in every star range (I'm looking at you Wolverine!) while others I've only seen one version of like Juggernaut, Invisible Woman, Sentry, etc. The 3 star range seems to have the largest amount of individual characters though that could just be my perception.

I can really only think of 4 characters with at least 3 versions.

Black Widow: 1, 2, 3
Thor: 2, 3, 4
Storm: 1, 2, 3
Wolverine 2, 3, 4

None of those versions have any bearing on the others except that you can't have them on the same team.

For instance, I have a maxed out 2 star Thor and a 3 star Thor that I'm working on replacing him with. I can only pick one or the other for a battle.

Man, I wish there was a way to see a list of all the notifications instead of having to click through each one. After not playing for a few weeks, my first 5 minutes of the game are clicking all the "Your Alliance came in nth place in X", then clicking the 15 or so 1-star recruit tokens so I can sell all those chumps.

I mean, not that I'm complaining about free stuff, but streamlined free stuff would be even better.

That's definitely a strong combo there. Personally my go-to team is Falcon, Panther and either Punisher or Patch. Two sources of attack tiles, two sources of defense tiles, rage of the panther, and either Punisher's finisher for tougher enemies or Patch's healing factor for longer fights.

There are a lot of great two person combos that go well with anybody for the PvP events too. Wolverine/Daken, Storm**/Magneto**, Blade/Daken, and Magneto** or Widow***/Hawkguy** come to mind. These types of team ups do tend to rely on good skill usage however, so they're not as intimidating on defense.

Combos are great if you can use them, but I've gotten lucky enough times that I have a level 209 xforce wolverine so he goes with anything.

This f-in game.

Cyclops looks awesome and they picked sweet cover art for him so I busted my ass for Iso-8 Brotherhood. I played way too much, I was constantly out of health packs. I finished top 100 in the lower event just about every cycle and hit it in the higher event a few times. I had well over a dozen gold drops for characters and probably 30+ standard drops.

No 3 stars. Not 1.

No Ares and no Widow in the 2 stars, just wolverine, moonstar, with 2 each and then a spattering of singles.

I did make over 30k in Iso, which is nice but I don't have anyone to level up.

At least I barely squeaked into the top 150 and got a single Cyclops. That's something, I guess.

I don't know, maybe this is their plan but a dark dark part of me wants to throw $100 at this game, expand my roster a bit and then buy one of the gigantic character packs so I can just wreck folks. Then I can set this game down and never look at it again.

I won't do it but I kind of just want to cut it out and cauterize the wound.

I got fairly lucky with the ISO 8 event but all of the 3 stars I got were generally of my low level heroes so I was able to bump a few 40's up into the 50's and Loki made it to 86. My highest is a 133 x-force Wolverine and then 2 star Thor, Magneto and Daken at 96. It just boggles my mind when I see others running around with a full team of 200+ level characters. Maybe I'll get there one day without spending money but I'd better start getting really lucky with the drops.

I also got a single Cyclops from the event and I think I finished around 65 or so. I ended up dropping my level 53 She-hulk to try him out. So far, not really impressed but we'll see if I manage to get some drops for him.

Not a single Cyclops for me, no 3-star drops either. The only real gain is a nice bump in ISO which got invested in levelling a couple heroes.

That's pretty normal for me; coming in new-ish to the game is rough. And I've been at it for a few months casually; that's a harsh "newbie" curve.

Even well over a year of playing every day it still has a harsh curve. I have a few good hero's leveled up, but there is still definitely a wall you hit that feels like the 'they spend money' and you haven't barrier. I also pretty much play while watching TV and that still seems to be not enough time to commit to actually really place well enough for the good rewards, that time commitment is intense.

Ah. Well, the main fun for me is collecting and levelling up heroes while enjoying the core Match 3 gameplay with powers as a twist on the mechanics, so at least that's a good base. I just would like to be able to collect and level heroes at a slightly less glacial pace.

Thats exactly it. There is no way I would put up with the glacial and random pace of the hero leveling if the core gameplay wasn't so good, but it is, so I do.

And it may just be my cheap nature but if you actually bought packs of cards their prices are insane. And levelling up heroes you already have without finding additional cards? I think my estimate for Wolverine was something like a hundred bucks. I'll be sticking with reward cards and tokens.

Oily, keep in mind even if you throw money into cover packs it still takes some 170000 iso in order to get a three star character leveled all the way up. There's a limit to what throwing money to ease frustration can do here.

My biggest problem is that on the odd occasion I get a 3*, it's rarely one I already have. So now I have a roster that I've burned through a lot of gold to buy slots for, with 20-odd 3* characters at level 40, with one (usually crappy by itself) power.

I lucked out with my last 3* drops. I got luke cage with his jab skill and human torch with Inferno. These were from standard recruit tokens too. I'd like to level them up, but for now they're still the best characters in my roster.

No, that just means I need to throw MORE money at it =)

The opening single player episodes of enemy of the state gives you a powered up cyclops, he's pretty great and he synergizes well with 2* Wolverine.

So far I've only gotten one 4* card, Invisible Woman, and I've actually gotten a couple of power ups for her. She still stinks. Even those she's level 90 I'm better off using one of my better mid 60's 3* guys. Maybe I'm just not using her right?

She's great if both the green and blue powers are high-level. Otherwise, not so much.

To be honest, her greatest strength is being a pain in the arse to play against. A high levelled blue power will lock up significant portions of the board, making it difficult for your opponent to get the colors they need to fire off their powers.

Ah, the one power I don't have yet. I think I've got 1 yellow and 2 green with her.

Just as a heads-up, the new DEADPOOL DAILY QUEST is live, and it's great. You can earn quite a bit of ISO, and a guaranteed three star cover if you can complete the final challenge. Also, TACO TOKENS!

Well, yes you do. But you need the required character.

Today's case needs Black Panther to get a Black Panther card. Which is great! But I don't have T'Challa =)

If I had to guess I would say that the three *s for this event will be:

T'Challa
Luke Cage
Magneto
Rocket and Groot
Storm

I think the plan is for the Deadpool Daily to be a permanent thing. I think you're right with list, but i also wouldn't be surprised if the list changes when seasons change and we get a new batch of three stars. At least i hope that's the case.

I just joined the alliance as MFalcone when you have chance to accept me!

It is a bit annoying that the daily requires a team of one stars.

I approved you. Welcome!
