Star Wars: The Force Awakens Catch All

Pages

Apologies if we have a thread about this but I couldn't find one.

Episode VII had an official title.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The movie now known as Star Wars: The Force Awakens will premiere on December 18th, 2015. Looks like it's dropped the Episode VII moniker as well. Hmm. Could be better, but it also could be a lot worse. I kinda dig it. Thoughts?

Can I say how delighted I am that my son will be the same age when these films come out as I was when the originals came out?

Actually a quite good title, all things considered. Evocative.

I like it, to me it seems like a natural progression from Return of the Jedi.

I think it exposes the subtitle "Return of the Jedi" as a dirty lie! If the Jedi were returned, wouldn't the Force have been awakened already?

Seriously, I like the title, but I wonder why they bothered to get rid of the 'Episode'? It might be them leaving room to tell stories between 'Jedi' and "The Force Awakens".

Awakens from a bad prequel hangover.

It's certainly a better subtitle than "The Phantom Menace"

Given that Disney is running it, I think this is pretty much guaranteed at this point.

I'm pretty happy that they are moving the universe forward a few decades, just so that we are not forced into movie after movie of the same three characters. I don't mind using Han, Luke, and Leia as a bridge to the new Star Wars Universe, but if they want to back-fill the intervening 30 years, doing it with other characters and other locations goes a long way to avoid prequel problems.

Well yeah, but that was a "Manos: The Hands of Fate"-tier title.

It's not a bad subtitle. I remain cautiously optimistic about this movie and about Disney's handling of Star Wars in general.

In other Star Wars related news, a huge chunk of Disney's Hollywood Studios park has been shut down recently and there are rumors that the most likely replacement is a Star Wars themed area.

I love all of you but the search feature of this forum software sucks.

All I did was search for "Star Wars" and it was the 3rd or 4th hit.

Lllaaaaaazzzzzzyyyyyy.

It wasn't a lie, Luke was the first new Jedi since general order 66. Yoda basically confirmed full Jedi status on him at the beginning of the movie.

Lucas is kind of the original neckbeard, huh? :p

The We Hate Movies podcast sometimes calls him "The Gobbler" and speculates the Ep 1 3d release was intended to raise funds in his search for a cure to turkey neck. That's probably pretty mean, but he can cry himself to sleep on his billions of dollars

And I can't believe no one went for the obvious "The Search for More Money" title.

Isn't he the opposite of a neck beard? He's ... all neck.

Scooby Doo and the Force Awakens

Doesn't fail the Scooby Doo test, but it doesn't pass it either.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens
Episode VIII: The Force Stares Blankly From a Window
Episode IX: The Force Wonders When It All Went Wrong

Everyone complains about what an awful title "The Phantom Menace" is, and it definitely is bad, but can we take a moment to appreciate how lazy and boring the title "Attack of the Clones" is?

Title matches the movie.

We all know this is the one we want.
