I couldn't feel any sympathy for him. Pity maybe, but not sympathy. He was fully complicit in what was being done to him.

Ok fair enough. I tend to mix up empathy, sympathy, and pity.
I didn't like how the bad guys won, but otherwise I enjoyed it.
It has Bucky so I'll give it a chance.
Oh! Bob is that Bob. Interesting.
Top Gun Maverick Bob?
I recall the Falcon and Winter Soldier being enjoyable, and then getting to the end and feeling like I had missed entire episodes with all the sudden changes at the end. Bucky and Sam together, great. Every scene with Zero, great. The conclusion was just incredibly rushed and didn't feel like it "fit" the rest of the narrative, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. It also had the misfortune of following Wandavision, which I think is one of the absolute best things Marvel has ever done. Speaking of which . . .
I watched the first two episodes of Agatha All Along last night, and loved them. Kathryn Hahn is fabulous, Aubrey Plaza is Aubrey Plaza-ing the hell out of her scenes, and the framing device of the first episode is a hilarious callback to Wandavision in all the right ways. I am so looking forward to the rest of this show.

Oh yes. My wife is so annoyed they didn't drop the whole thing at once. THE song alone is amazing.
Agatha All Along really has fired up my Marvel interest to heights I haven't seen in a while, so I finally did something I'd been meaning to do for a while; I watched The Marvels. I'm very aware that one of the reasons the movie did so badly was because it's a very female-led movie, and Brie Larson in particularly is a lightning rod for awful, misogynistic asshats who will negatively review anything she is in. I'm also now aware it did badly because it was a terrible movie that jumped around constantly and didn't make any sense.
It reminded me of Black Widow in a sense; there was a really great story about trying to build relationships and get to know each other in the context of a superhero movie, and then really dumb stuff happened. Why does sucking up a planet's atmosphere fix your atmosphere? Don't the reasons that caused it to fail in the first place still exist? How does water dropping into your dry seas not wind up having some sort of awful toxic or biological impact? Do suns work in such a way that you can just plug in a new one and it works, like a fusion-powered lightbulb you buy at Space Home Depot? Why, if using their powers causes them to switch positions do they rarely switch positions while using their powers all the time?
There were several good movies here that didn't get made. Kamala meeting her hero and being disappointed or disillusioned or not just growing up in some way. Carol's PTSD from her mistakes and what she did to try to atone for them. Or, maybe, if right after the first Captain Marvel she took out the Supreme Intelligence and it threw the Kree into a civil war . . . could I see that movie instead? I feel like I got Moon Knight-ed, where there were some really cool things that happened that I just didn't get to see.
It was better than Love and Thunder (except for the singing/dancing planet which was so painfully bad I plugged in a guitar and turned my amp up and made enough noise to drown it out), and I'd say at least Kamala's enthusiasm and likeability made it better than Quantumania, but, man, they could have done so much better with this one.

While Larson certainly does attract the Bigot Brigade, I'm not convinced they have nearly the power to sink a project that people attribute to them.
If anything, I think it's the opposite: I think they choose their targets partially because they smell blood in the water. They attack something that looks like it's going to fail anyway, because then if it does, they can take credit for it and loudly cry, "See! SEE?! Get woke go broke!" or whatever.
On those occasions when their aim is off and they go after something that turns out to be good and popular, they quietly shut up about it and move on to another target without ever admitting they were wrong.

I’m sorry but for me, this sentence tarnishes anything else you mention.
For me, The Marvels is a fun adventure with some after-school-special level drama and a few priceless set pieces: the fight in the Khan family home, the kitten rescue, and yes, the musical planet.
I found the weakest part of the movie to be the underdeveloped villain. She could have been great, but there just wasn’t time to add another dimension or two to her.
The Marvels also has the best needle drop in any movie ever, with Memory.
Agatha all Along is very much a return to form for the Marvel spin offs. It's really, genuinely, quite good.
Am I the only one miffed that the end credits didn't use the Nightsisters of Dathomir as part of the montage of Disney witches?

It seems that Marvel has really been struggling lately regarding character motivations. Why is character/villain doing what they're doing? As the Pitch Meeting screenwriter says, "So the movie can happen." For example, Deadpool & Wolverine was a lot of fun, had wild action scenes, but very little of the setup made any sense.
Midseason trailer for Agatha All Along. Obvious, very much spoilers if you aren't caught up on this show.
Also, you should be caught up on this show if you aren't because this is the best thing Marvel has put out in a good long while. The way they're mixing in the general plot while using contained little bottle episodes that all have different vibes is just so good.
Agatha All Along 7 was really good. The setup and the payoff were great.

One of the best episodes of any of the Marvel shows.
I am going to go in the opposite direction. I feel like Agatha All Along is at best "meh". Acting is pretty bad, characters are mostly boring or cookie cutter. I am not hating it, but I probably wouldn't be watching it if it wasn't Marvel. That being said, I did like the last episode. If all of them were like that I would be loving the show.

Glad I'm not the only one. A lot of the ideas are interesting, but the execution is lackluster. Either the direction is bad, the actors are phoning it in, or both.
And I genuinely think Agatha All Along is one of the best things Marvel's done in years. I love the practical sets and how they actually feel like the Wizard of Oz the show is emulating, all the acting is incredible, and it's another smaller character-based story, and it's nice seeing things that aren't world/universe ending. Both excited to see next week's finale episodes and sad it's going to be done.

Agreed. And I fully accept people will have differences of opinion, but I just don't see what Mix and kaz are getting at.
Though if it's this vs other Marvel or this vs everything else, then ok sure I can see that wide range.
If you compare Agatha to something like Daredevil or Jessica Jones, it is just not in the same league. It is trying to be episodic but with only 8 episodes. The antagonist is some shadowing figure following them, but without any real development. They aren't a Fisk or a Kilgrave, at least not yet.
So the show isn't awful, I say "meh" because it is watchable but nothing spectacular, at least to me.
I agree, Daredevil isn’t in the same league as Jessica Jones and Agatha. Bummed that’s the one they decided to resurrect of the Netflix shows. Even Iron Fist would have been better.
Daredevil was boooring. The only redeeming part of the show was Kingpin, followed by Murdoch’s cameo in She-Hulk.
Luke Cage and Jessica Jones were the two best Netflix era shows.
But.. Iron Fist though...
IF Season 2 was actually pretty decent, I’d put it in the middle of the pack for the Netflix stuff, whereas Daredevil started off just okay and got worse each season.
Charlie Cox was awesome and I'll fight anyone. But yes, the DD show had flaws, but had enough moments.
I loved his addition to the MCU so far (Kingpin's too).
But let's be honest all of the Netflix shows had their issues. JJ S1 was the closest to no issues, but S2 had some. LC S1 started strong, but hit the end of season slump like the others.
I really had high hopes for Defenders and it checked some of the boxes I wanted, but the story was a mess.
No more Elektra, thanks.
So the consensus I’m getting from this conversation is that Agatha All Along is above average for a Marvel show, but nothing particularly notable otherwise. Does that sound right?

Well, the consensus is either it's an absolutely great show or it's just middling, which is, you know, not much of a consensus.

It’s a good show that you can enjoy on its own
merits without feeling the need to compare it with anything else made by Marvel.

This is true but people keep using disclaimers like best marvel show ever... for many of us that's not the case
For myself i think it suffers from a lot of what all the Disney shows of the last year have been. Both Marvel and Star Wars. We see the best stuff in the previews of the show and only one or two episodes surpass that. Everything else in between is mediocre.
