X-Men '97

That was a whole lot of violence and gore that never would have flown with the Fox Kids Network back in the day.

I watched the newest one last night. They did some things I don't think they could have done when I watched it in middle school.

All the kids back in the day watched the DBZ dismemberments. Can't be worse than that.

Psh, I'll say it, DBZ was worse.

Disclaimers

Watched four episodes of X-Men 97 with my arms folded. "Oh, look, it's exactly what I thought it would be, nostalgia-bait with a slightly upgraded animation budget and a low episode count meaning that the pace has to be breathless and rushed and none of the beats get time to breath. Oh, look, they referenced the arcade game, jangle the nostalgia keys harder.

Spoiler:

Jean Grey has a clone oh she's an evil dominatrix now she's good what the f*ck ever, this all happens too fast for me to care.

This show sucks, everyone else is stupid and I'm smart."

Then Episode 5 happened, and the showed leaned ALL the way into being what the X-Men was always meant to be: a big campy convoluted melodramatic soap opera with occasional punchings.

...f*ck. I was wrong and you all were right. Everyone else is smart and I'm stupid. This show is good. You got me again, X-Men.

By far, the thing spoilered is the weakest part of '97, and then it gets good.

Spoiler:

Magneto was right.

Good news! But I guess Malalas isn’t working on any new Trek, which is a bummer.

I just finished watching XMen 97, I have a question.

Spoiler:

The dude in the past is Apocalypse, who is another one of the XMen popular enemies.

Who are the people in the future?

Do you really want the answers this way?

Also, why is D&W opening so late into the Summer? Is there something big coming out that hasn't unleashed its media blitz yet?

Yeah, it is a spoiler-spoiler. Not something you could have picked up by watching either the original cartoon or 97.

I thought it was something I missed from the show, which is why I asked.

Never mind then.

So is there a wiki I could read.

Personally I don't care if there are spoilers for a 25 year old show / story line.

Any web search should find you the answer if you really want to know.

So my usual search for "Jean Grey Storm yuri foot stuff" will give me the answer?

You know I almost googled this just out of sheer curiosity.

They are:

Spoiler:

The Askani, a tribe who raised Cable in the future. I was hoping they'd go that way, it didn't "fix" a runner I didn't like, but it helps.

Well, daaaaamn. I think it's safe to say one of the issues with the MCU in recent years is a level of blandness and everything feeling way too much the same, as Marvel just consistently plays it safe. This does not feel like playing safe, and creepy-ass Aubrey Plaza? Yeah, I'm in for this.

I really enjoy how they let Reynolds and crew do their own marketing.

Would like a bit more Winter Solider and a bit less EXPLOSIONS.
