My ear-shattering squeeing at this announcement.

Looks good for now. But the Guardians 2 title will change to get a super awesome sub title.

Yeah, I'll update it when they announce it.

Might also mention upcoming TV series:

Marvel's Agent Carter - January 2015
Marvel's Daredevil - May 2015 (Netflix)

In development, no date announced:
Jessica Jones
Iron Fist
Luke Cage
The Defenders

Mostly, I'm making this thread because Marvel announced a Captain Marvel movie with Carol Danvers and no one told me

Yeah sorry this was all covered in the comics thread and/or the Avengers 2 thread.

Good thread.

I'm a little disappointed that there isn't a standalone Black Widow movie.

I just read this reply from The Mary Sue that was somewhat heartening, in light of that disappointment:

My brother was telling me Marvel (ie, that itty bitty company called Disney) is trying to get Spider-man back from Sony.
Is this the appropriate thread to discuss this?

The Cap movie is actually Serpent Society instead of Civil War... though I dunno why, as it sounds like it's primarily going to be Civil War.

Video might get taken down eventually, but they constructed an Infinity War teaser of pre-existing video footage and audio. It's also handicam footage, so, sorry about that.

I am a huge Carol Danvers fan, and she's one of the characters that managed to go from being one of the butt monkies of the Marvel universe to an A-list hero with her own really good book. If you ever want to be horrified and repulsed, just Google Avengers #200. I'll wait.

OK, go shower, I'll wait some more.

Turned into a great character, love her solo books. Cannot wait for the movie.

Or rumors that Sony would work out some kind of agreement letting Garfield portray his Spidey in Avengers or something. I hear lots of things on the internet, but who knows what is true?

It sure would be nice though. I thought that was a glaring hole in the first Avengers... huge inter-dimensional battle in NYC, Spidey nowhere to be found.

edit..

wait..wait..

Disney -> ESPN -> Grantland??!

Where are the ethics is Marvel Movie Journalism??!

I think Marvel is doing okay so far without Spidey. He can show up Phase 15.

Edit: Or how about this? If they get him back, give him a big budget Netflix series. Do a slow burn Peter in high school series. Let him him earn his Avengers membership.

Supposedly they reached a deal to include Oscorp tower in the skyline, but not soon enough to actually implement it. Maybe he was just unable to get away from the classroom where he was being forced to huddle down like a high school student by his teacher.

Comics thread. No one mentioned it in the Avengers thread.

Apparently the Serpent Society title was a joke. The official name is Civil War.

I felt like the recent Amazing Spiderman movies, especially the second one, were the first Spiderman stories I've seen that really got Spider-Man's moves and fighting style right. (I felt the same way about Avengers and the Hulk.) I was indifferent to Spiderman being in the Avengers movies until I saw that; then I really missed him swinging around and beating up Chitari warriors in New York.

Yep, Garfield has the snarky Spidey down perfect.

As good as Spider-Man 2 was back in the day, seeing Garfield really puts those older movies to shame.

Interesting thing, while the Serpent Wars subtitle seemed a bit odd at first, reading about it on Wikipedia revealed Viper, a.k.a. Madam Hydra, which suddenly caused it to make a bit more sense.

Either way, I'm psyched. For everything. All of it. All the movies.

I think it's very interesting that the Infinity War really looks like it'll span over four movies, given that two cosmic movies are set to release between Infinity Wars 1 & 2.

Getting the Spider-man franchise back would be nice, both for Spidey and for the villians he brings with him. Still think the Fantastic Four franchise is the biggest void in the MCU... but we know Fox is never going to let go of those rights.

They can keep 'em. I never liked the Fantastic Four.

But Galacticus! Skrulls! Reed Richards! Dr. Door!

The villains alone are worth the franchise!

Dr. Door, the guy always making the Fantastic Four unable to reenter their base because they were tricked into leaving their keys inside before leaving.

Just to clarify, the Netflix series in production are Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron First. Those four will then team up for The Defenders movie, also on Netflix.

Daredevil is first in the queue.

Out of all Marvel properties outside of the Studio, FF is the most likely to return. The comics were cancelled, FOX churned out a quicky FF title to retain rights, it's all going downhill. I'd say that's the franchise most likely to return in its entirety.

Not complete rights though, but special permissions, Spidey could definitely come back for Avengers. I see Sony and Marvel negotiating returns, but Sony keeping the exclusivity of doing Solo Spidey flicks.
