We've been computerizing stuff for 70 years or so now, and yet a misplaced comma can stop entire organizations from working. This is just the hardware version of that. (Or maybe not... Maybe it is a software thing. Or maybe it was submerged in water overnight and your son was afraid to tell you. Many things happen.)
I have an LG OLED 55" C1 connected to an nVidia GTX3080 (Windows 11) via HDMI. I have a slight lag between audio and video (audio is later). Especially noticeable when watching videos.
Any suggestions on what setting (PC and TV) I can look at?
it's a bit of a nuisance, but turning off game mode when watching videos helps.
There seems to be a bunch of stuff online when you search for “LG C1 audio latency”.
I should have thought not to include "Windows 11" in my search term. All I was getting was links to video lag, not audio.

So some searching showed a Reddit thread that someone blamed the Dolby setting. So I turned off Dolby, turned off game mode, and set video/audio to "standard". Seems to be working OK now.
There was some comments about it happening after the TV was on for more than 2 hours with HDMI input, but as the TV is always on, that seems unlikely.
Thanks for the help and we'll see what happens.
What's the Asus router to get these days?
When I compare the BE86U, 88U, and 92U it isn't making much sense to me. The 92U supports more protocols, has the 6 Ghz spectrum, but has less RAM and a seemingly slower processor (if you go by GHz).
Windows on my new PC keep moving themselves around on my desktop (Windows 11 24H2 - 10.0.26100). I first noticed it when trying to troubleshoot Dragon Age Origins. When I'd alt-tab out, windows would move to the top left corner of the screen and resize themselves to 1920x1080 on my 4k monitor. This also happens if the system turns off the display after the timeout set in Power. When the display comes back on, the windows appear in new positions and sizes.
I've done a lot of googling and tried every potential solution I've found. I removed some cached window size information in regedit. I have turned off "Aero Snap" and accessibility features that might move or resize windows. I am not alone experiencing this, based on feedback I found on the Microsoft support forum. Unfortunately, none of the suggested fixes work for me.
The one thing I haven't been able to try is setting the screen scaling. The PC is hooked up to a 4K TV, so everything needs to be scaled up a bit or it is too tiny for me to see.
I strongly suspect it is related to scaling, because when I mess with the System->Display->Scale option it sometimes moves windows around and resizes them. It is not consistent or reproducible in any way I could figure out.
Does it still matter if the game is set to borderless window or full screen mode?
Is the headphone jack stuffed with dirt and stuff?
My wife did the same things advised, but she left the phone of for about 30 minutes and fixed itself. Weird.

Doesn't seem to matter. I first started noticing it while playing the GOG version of Dragon Age Origins at 1440p. But since then it has happened even when I haven't been playing a game. I've disabled all the screen overlay stuff I could find (Nvidia, Steam, Game Bar, etc.) but that doesn't seem to matter either.
I'm thinking it's something I might have installed at the same time as Origins. Currently I'm testing if an animated desktop utility I installed (Wallpaper Engine on Steam) might be the culprit.

Are you trying to triage BadKen's window-repositioning issue, or was that a new question you wanted answered?

ha good point. It was directed at BadKen.
There is a checkbox in display settings that reads "Remember window locations based on monitor connection". Is that checked?

Nope. Initial searches mentioned that setting might be the culprit, but I it has always been off for me. Now I wonder if turning it on might improve things.
I’m pretty sure now that Wallpaper Engine is not the problem.

I have it checked and windows generally stay where they are supposed to as long as the display configuration stays the same. I would give it a try.
That is the WIFI 6 one so a generation behind the ones I posted. They just have too many models with confusing model #s!

Okay, cool. I have it checked now, we'll see if the windows behave.

I picked it because each of the routers are set for different (mostly) use cases. For example, one of them supports an extensive sub-channel for guests - that's one for a small business or the like. There were also difference in numbers of antennae, mesh features (I think), security (sub to an external company or not), all sorts of things.
What I would do in this situation is to define what features you *need* and what ones you *want*, and compare that list to each of the routers you are considering. I know that sounds basic but it's part of what I do for a living lol, and customers with these kinds of questions usually have not taken this step, figuring that it's pretty much one router for one use. It's not, though. So you gotta identify your actual requirements and then make a chart to compare.
Please don't take this as talking down. I didn't have enough information to go on in your case so I just found a reasonable use-case and pulled a review.
"Remember window locations based on monitor connection" did not stop windows from resizing themselves.
Hmm is it possible to put some windows on a second screen and observe their behavior when you load up a game on the primary screen? Very odd...
I only have one screen, that's the weird thing.
This isn’t a tech question so much as a service question, but here we go anyways:
We use a Sonos One controlled almost exclusively with Alexa. Despite all the recent hubbub with the Sonos app, we’ve been happy with it. We’ve been using Spotify as our music service, but for various reasons are looking to move away from it to something else.
Our sticking point is how Spotify handles voice command. If we initiate a session via Alexa (e.g., “Alexa, play my discover weekly on Spotify”), it of course starts the session, but crucially it’s controllable from either the Sonos or Spotify iOS app. From the Spotify app, we can see what is playing, skip, like, dislike, etc even though the session was started via Alexa.
We tried Deezer around a year ago and liked it, but the lack of this feature introduced enough friction that we came crawling back to Spotify in the end. Ditto Apple Music and Tidal.
Does anyone know if any other music streaming service offers this functionality?

You aren’t alone. I have the exact same issue. 4K display and sometimes windows will resize themselves. It seems random though. At least I haven’t found a common set of events that will cause it. Also sometimes my default sound device will swap to my monitor from my USB Logitech Speakers.
I have that default sound device swapping thing, too! For me it seems to be triggered by some application not getting along well with the spatial sound provided by Dolby Atmos for Home Theater. I'll get some awful scratchy noise coming from the speakers, and the sound device changes to onboard sound from the HDMI sound I normally use.

I tell my son the math calculations were off on the Hubble's mirror by a fraction of a millionth, or something ridiculously small, and that made the pictures blurry. It's really amazing.
It was actually an improperly aligned laser alignment/leveling device.

try switching the HDMI cable, maybe?
I bought my daughter a new laptop last month, and, since it's basically a glorified web browser for her, I didn't get anything too fancy, and picked up a Dell Inspiron 15. It's worked fine, but the battery life can be described as "complete and utter garbage". Was going to buy a power bank for it, but it's got a pin connector on its power cable instead of USB-C, and, when I plugged a power bank into the USB port, was not surprised to find it not charging at all.
Any thoughts on how to do an external charging device? This thing is annoying as hell.
Just look for a "Dell Inspiron 15 External Battery". It looks like Batpower has some.
Also I guess adjust the power settings, and keep it plugged in when possible.
Does it support power over USB-C? If so, does the power bank charge it when it's in sleep/hibernate/power off? If so it might be that the power bank doesn't supply enough power to charge it and power the computer at the same time. Best to get a USB-C standalone charger.

Did the power bank support USB-C PD, and at what wattage? A lot of banks won’t output enough to charge a laptop. And does the laptop model claim USB-C PD charging support?
