I have no proof that you’re real.
Math is integer, unless declared real.
I’ll have you know that I’m rational, and proud of it!
Nothing in the peano or set axioms mentions real- or imaginary-ness..
ergo:
Real numbers are imaginary
Best I can offer is this group.
Thanks, there are some tools linked there that I haven't tried yet. I'll give them a go...
I just discovered this today and thought I'd share.
My PC audio output is via Nvidia's HD Audio through HDMI to my TV to my soundbar. With Dolby Atmos for Home Theater turned on, a lot of web sites misbehave. Youtube in particular spews static sometimes. So when I'm not playing a game that supports surround, I'd like to turn it off. Problem is, it's super annoying to toggle spatial audio in Windows 11.
I searched for a while for a tool or a script that would do it, but I couldn't find one that specifically toggled Spatial Audio between Off and Dolby Atmos for Home Theater. Then I noticed something in the Sound Output controls that come up when you click the speaker in the taskbar and then click the options icon.
Win-Ctrl-V brings up the sound options directly! Much nicer than dragging the mouse over to the corner of the screen and scrolling around in the options.
I've got a Minecraft problem with Windows Hello on Windows 10. I was doing some searching tonight and it appears that there's a lot of people who are having similar issues online but unfortunately I cannot find a solution (yet). I did try to search these forums a bit to see if anyone's had a similar problem but I come up empty right now. Here's the summary:
1) I created a Mojang-based Minecraft account many years ago. That account was successfully migrated over to a Minecraft account. I've played Minecraft with it on both Windows and Linux.
2) I have a Windows 10 machine that I recently reinstalled and it has Windows Hello running on it. I log into this machine using my Personal (note, not Minecraft) Microsoft account login and a Windows Hello PIN.
To be clear, there are two accounts in question:
- Personal Microsoft account that I use to log into the PC with Windows Hello
- Minecraft Microsoft account that has only ever been used to play Minecraft (long before Windows Hello was a thing...)
3) When I run the Minecraft launcher, I try to use my Minecraft Microsoft account but then it says I have to authenticate with a PIN to make Windows Hello happy. I'm stuck at this point because I've never used my Minecraft Microsoft account to log into anything like this before. So there's no PIN associated with it and I don't know how to make a PIN for it. It doesn't seem to have any way of letting me use my Microsoft password either.
There are a lot of frustrated posts on the Microsoft, Minecraft, and Reddit discussion groups. Haven't been able to find a solution for it yet. Anybody run into this and figure out a solution?
Well.... I think I solved my problem.
Step 1 was to switch from logging in with my Personal Microsoft account and to instead logging in with a local account (reboot).
Step 2 was to log into the Microsoft Store with my Minecraft Microsoft account.
Then I could run the launcher and log in using my Mincraft Microsoft account credentials! For good measure, I removed my Microsoft Account from the "Email & accounts -> Accounts used by email, calendar, and contacts" section. That account is still in the "Accounts used by other apps" though so I can run my Office Suite without any issues.
So, this workflow is fine with me. I sort of feel like I didn't really solve the question of how to use Microsoft services with multiple different accounts. I don't want to put things back the way they were and see if I could figure it out, but it's very possible that my problem could have been solved if I had just done step 2 above.
Maybe that might help someone else out in the future.
In Windows 11, I select a folder on an external hard drive. I hit “shift-delete.” The folder takes ~5 minutes to delete - which is okay because it’s a big folder.
But I left out a step…
Why does Windows take 15 MINUTES TO COUNT EVERY FILE THAT I WANT TO DELETE BEFORE IT STARTS THE DELETION PROCESS?!

NTFS is the best!
Probably because the shift-delete has to check every single file before it can mess with file table (for every single file), which takes much longer than just modifying the file table itself.
Does anyone have suggestions on where to buy a used gaming computer? Both eBay and the Facebook marketplace seem to think that used computers are worth the same as new ones.

If you don't want to deal with people try shopping the various Outlets. Dell and HP both have official sites for Open Box, Refurb, Returns, Etc on a rolling inventory of systems. During Sales or Coupon promotions some you can stumble into some great deals if you're willing to check into system details.

Try checking out Backmarket! I've had luck buying phones from there in the past: https://www.backmarket.com/en-us
Anybody know if there's such a thing as a USB-C charger that only charges to 80%?
Or does that have to be done by the device itself.
It's something that the device itself has to control. Did you have a specific one in mind?
The charger would need to know the charge status of the device. I haven't heard of a charger that does that, but I know my Samsung phone gives me the option to stop charging at 80, 85, or 90%.
I was hoping I could do it with my controllers. Unfortunately I'm using the ELITEST of controllers, which don't have replaceable batteries. I'm guessing maybe a battery pack charger could do the charge limit thing.

For those curious, I ended up finding a great deal from a local computer shop for a mixed used/new computer. It was 775$ for a ryzen 5 5600x, 32gb DDR4 ram , 3 tb ssd total storage, and AMD 6750 XT. They also gave 70% of eBay pricing for my Xbox and games, which would be about the same I would get after putting on eBay myself TBH.
In reality, I'm not even sure I should call this a great deal, but just a reasonable deal. It's still so strange to me how people don't think that their computers depreciate with time. If anyone else is looking, I can DM you the place i found and maybe they can work something out over shipping.
Amy recommendations on a wireless sound setup?
In-laws gave us their old 65" Samsung. It's got some issues with the screen (some rainbow type effect in a couple spots) but it works, it's huge, and I've got it mounted in the garage for home gym stuff like watching YT videos, listening to music, sports, Dragonball Z, etc. However, the sound fades in/out.
I'd like to get a truly wireless speaker hooked up to it so I don't have to run another cable into it (it's already tight space wise and I def don't want cables around my gym stuff).
In the house we have Roku TVs and they all have true wireless speakers connected. But this is a Samsung. Maybe Sonos?
I wanted to post this as one of the strangest bugs I've had. Basically there's a certain youtube video list. Just some Deus Ex music. Which when on my second monitor causes weird display issues. But only if I'm moving/scrolling in my first monitor. Said display issues are lines with picture in picture of other parts of the monitor.
Like what?
Memory bug in hardware video decoding triggered by the video? Only thing I can think of. That is super odd.
Or you are being hacked by some futuristic cyborg.
Roko's Basilisk.
@Fiveiron - perhaps Costco? They don't sell used but they do have big discounts on computers. Plus Black Friday is right around the corner
Roko's Basilisk.
Thanks, I just lost The Game.
My son's cell phone, a Samsung, is stuck in earphone mode, but he's never used earphones in it. The regular system noises you can hear, but apps and websites the sound you can't hear. Any suggestions?
Is the headphone jack stuffed with dirt and stuff?
I have an LG OLED 55" C1 connected to an nVidia GTX3080 (Windows 11) via HDMI. I have a slight lag between audio and video (audio is later). Especially noticeable when watching videos.
Any suggestions on what setting (PC and TV) I can look at?
Does Rtings have any settings or advice for that model?
There seems to be a bunch of stuff online when you search for “LG C1 audio latency”.

We did the alcohol/swab Job, looks like it may need a hard reset. I really don't understand how little things like this happens, and we are ready to computerize everything from a toilet to a rocket ship to the moon.
