I'd also recommend staying with the baggy look for a bit if you plan on loosing a large amount of weight. Otherwise, you get the unconsidered cost of replacing your wardrobe 2-3 times.
Spoken from personal experience....
It also makes a nice reward for yourself to hit a milestone and then treat yourself to clothes that fit your new body. Rather than have it trickle in as you need to get better fitting items.

I bought a new wardrobe at waist size 44 before losing. Then bought some 40s, a few 38s and now some 36s. The dress pants I bought were 40s because I was close to the 38s fitting but needed to look nice the next weekend.
The baggy look works for most of my stuff, but I probably need a new jacket/pants combo for customer meetings. I can't look like a shlub for those.
My dress shirts are all 17.5 or 18 36/37. They look pretty bad until they're tucked in and the sleeves rolled up. What I ran into this week was trying to wear a tie was not working. The 18 neck shirts were waaaaay too big to be worn with a tie. I'm not looking to spend too much money on new/nice clothes until I get to whatever my maintenance weight is going to be.

I don't know if guys do this as much, but back when I used to be on LiveJournal, the fatshionistas would have clothing swaps/giveaways.
The good news is, for the first time in months, my weekly caloric intake is pretty close to my goal. The bad news is, well, see for yourself.

Yeah, I filled out a form with support. Hoping to get your result, especially since I found someone online who did the same and then fixed the broken one by opening it up and splicing a frayed wire. I don't want to do that before they resolve it tho in case it voids warranty or something.
Woot. New scale is on the way free of charge!
I haven't left the stage of loving to wear pants that are too big. Is it weird? I like looking down and seeing how much the belt has to hold together for them to fit me. It's when I see progress the most. I think I will buy pants when I hit my first big goal. Not sure if that big goal will be my maintenance weight or whether I'll want to keep going. Trying not to push myself there.
The reverse of this is true with shirts for me. Shirts that I used to feel self-conscious trying to still fit into, I love wearing. I especially love wearing shirts people got me as gifts that I thought "no way in hell am I going to be able to wear this" but was too lazy to exchange/return.
I'm down from 42s fitting me, to some seriously old 38s fitting me (I grabbed all dress pants I owned when moving to Greece, thinking, what the hell, you never know and these are all the dress pants I own in the world...). And I'm still loving wearing 42s that ridiculously would fall off of me if not belted up tight.
So, figured I'd post here to help keep me on track/motivated. For the record, getting old really sucks. In my thirties, I used to be able to scarf down a whole large pizza and never notice it. Now, I can't tie my shoes without holding my breath because all the extra belly fat compresses my diaphragm (at least that's what it feels like is going on). My brain wants to still eat like I was that young, but my body now longer burns it off the next morning.
Lately (maybe 3 years or so) I've been a bit on a yo-yo. I keep active for about 6 months, lose weight, than get lazy and probably most importantly, stop getting on the scale daily &/or tracking my weight. Got a fitbit aria so at the very least, I'm not forced to manually enter weights into a spreadsheet, all I need to do is make stepping on the scale (and occasionally cursing at it) part of my morning routine.

Finally got a scale. Weighed myself this morning and was pleased to be closer to 300 than I expected. It's a shame that I went back over a number I vowed to never reach again, but at least I didn't hit 320 again.
Figured I'll try for about 1.5 lb. lost per week instead of the ambitious and potentially dangerous 2 lb. per week. Don't have a set date for my long term goal, but we'll see.

Honestly, I'm a little surprised to have lost this week. I didn't eat super well over the weekend, but I'll take the loss. If I can eat like I did this week - risotto, bread/butter, and a drink on Friday night and Pizza on Saturday night and still end up losing, I'm going to be pretty happy.

I was not expecting to lose weight this week. I spent last weekend being sedentary in a hotel at a boardgame convention. Some poor food choices and more beer than I should have had was a concern. I'm losing more than that what I am planning for, but I assume that will level off soon enough. I'm still eating over 2000 calories a day.
Do you like your work program so far?
I do like it. We're getting a lot of education in the meetings and I feel much more accountable, we have to turn in food journals every week, which they read through and comment on. I'm nervous to read the comments when I get them back next week.

Awesome job! It sounds like your body is still used to the much more than 2000 calorie diet, so even breaking 2000/day can still cause a loss.
I also found that the quality of food mattered. 2000 of high quality, nutritious food tended to earn better results than 2000 of crap like McDonalds.

The nutritionist I see emphasized this a lot. Growing up poor, I'm not always very good at spending real money on myself, and my wife is similar. Telling myself I'm paying for "health care" and buying a healthier body help me give myself permission (cause of course, high quality nutritious food costs at times twice as much or more as other food...)

It really doesn't have to. It depends if you're aiming for organic foods or not, what brands you're going with, buying on sale, if you're cooking large batches or per meal and whether you're willing to shop at multiple stores to get things cheaper.
I've been lurking here a while thinking about whether to post my own progress because I'm skinny and trying to put on weight. I know this thread is mostly about weight loss, but I was hoping I could post my own results and see what nutrition information I can learn here because I don't want to put on weight by eating a bunch of junk food.
Well, it's weight management, so I say post away, Delerat. We're here for support whichever way you want your weight to go.
I cleaned out my closet after the move to the new house and found three pairs of my old jeans I bought when I was still marathoning (5 years ago). Decided I will never be a 32 waist ever again and tossed them in the donate bin. The wife asked why I was donating perfectly good jeans and I told her that losing that much weight was unreasonable.
She gave me a nasty stare and said "so you're just going to give up?" and stuffed them in her bag.

.8 in the wrong direction... Not the end of the world. Need to watch my evening eating (a recurring theme with me). Of course, I could chalk up anything 1 lb. or less related to digestive processes.

Not shabby at all, that's great!
I meant 1.4, not 1/4. 1/4 is still better than gaining.

I'm still slipping up on tracking at night. On top of that, I'm also exercising, so I'm taking this one-pound gain with a grain of salt. An average loss of 1.4 pounds/week isn't too shabby. Lemme keep telling myself that.

I have a tough time remembering that in the grand scheme of things, one week really doesn't matter. For as much as I've lost over the past few weeks, it'll only take one week of going the other direction to get me in a funk. And I don't mean the good, George Clinton kind of funk. Keep at it, Dee.
Weight is merely a reflection of your lifestyle. Ultimately, that's what you want to change. Slamming on the brakes is ultimately counterproductive. It's best to ease off the accelerator, engage the engine brake, and coast to a stop.

I'm hoping to put on a half a pound a week and think I've been maintaining that trend for the last month or two. It's hard to tell as I don't have a scale at home yet though.
Offhand I can suggest adding nuts: almonds, pecans, etc are very caloric but also really tasty and highly nutritious. For smoothie fans there are some really easy ways to jack up the calorie count without impacting flavor much (e.g. chia seed / flax).
I've definitely got nuts in my diet. I've been buying each type of nut individually in bulk and then making my own blend. It can be hard to keep shoveling nuts every day though.
I try to make a smoothie every day consisting of spinach, kale, chia, banana, strawberries, mango, blueberries, almond milk, and hemp protein powder.
