Yeah, if you love Jar Jar
Yeah, that parts was really hard to get through. Poor Mace.
I thought the Order 66 arc at the start of the season was good. Although it has the same "the good guys are working for the bad guys" theme we'd just seen, it gives Rex more to do and helps explain his reappearance in Rebels.
Maul's Revenge - Twin Suns Preview
I skipped Jar-Jar episodes at the recommendation of others around here, and finished up S6 Mon night. Enjoyed it for the most part. Early episodes were rough and hurt from so much of S1/2/3 having episodes out of order. But 4/5/6 were pretty solid.
Season 3 Episode 18:
In which Wedge hangs out with droids.
Those droids have a sing-along.
A team of lobots hacks the planet.
And everyone freaks because chopper isn't a murderous danger to everyone.

Re: this latest episode.
I thought that was rather elegant. That's how I envisioned a Jedi Master fighting. No flash, no wasted movement, just substance. And catching him as he fell is such an Alec Guinness thing to do.

I REALLY liked this episode too.
And I agree about the lightsaber battle. By this time Maul is more machine than man. Kenobi has spent a lifetime honing his skill. To see the middle aged version of Kenobi measure up Maul with his fingers pointing forward, a la Clone Wars, was super cool. And Maul's last words... I think reveal that he went to Tatooine to die.
Wow. That was awesome.
Yeah the fight itself was short, but I agree with Grenn.
Nice of Disney XD to put the money clip on Youtube...
At the very end when Maul says that the chosen one "will avenge us", do you think he meant "bring balance to the force"? Or is there a Sith philosophy that the chosen one will destroy the remaining Jedi?

I think it has more to do with the fact that the Emperor messed Maul up in Clone Wars and had him imprisoned for quite awhile as well.
Kenobi switched through about 3 different saber forms before maul attacked. That alone was a psych out to show just how skilled he has become. The fact it ended so quickly was amazing I thought, like an old samurai movie.
Also, he used the same form that Qui-Gon Jinn used, a bit of poetic justice there.
I loved this so much, it was so good.
Dumb spoilery question perhaps too nerdy for this board:
How was Kenobi able to cut through Maul's saber? I always assumed that both ends were powered by one crystal and thus the blade would go all the way through it. Am I overthinking it?

I believe dual lightsabers are basically two lightsabers attached in the middle. They may be built as one solid piece, but it requires two working crystals on each end. Otherwise the "blades" would both activate every single time the lightsaber was turned on and we've seen Maul use only one end before.
Also of note, the move he was doing when Kenobi killed him is the move he used to kill Qui-Gon. Which makes Kenobi taking on Qui-Gon's stance all the more interesting. Kenobi must have figured that killing him the same way he killed Qui-Gon probably held great appeal to Maul.

I can confirm that Maul's original saber was basically two stuck together (as defined by one of those books with breakdown pictures that was around in 2000). In Episode 1 Obi-wan also cuts it in half and they fight for a bit afterwards.

Is it even possible to be too "nerdy" for this thread?
That was the single best episode of rebels.
Maul was a machine of revenge, this is all he's ever been. He's struck down by Kenobi and, not only is he relieved, he's assured that the Sith, who betrayed him, get what they deserve.
That episode was simply amazing.
Next episode? I love this cast but I hope they all don't make it out.
This is so much better than clone wars.
Gonna spoiler until people have had time to watch the final episode.
RIP Saito.
Welcome Kallus!
I'm really looking forward to the next season.
Have time? It hasn't aired yet.

Then what did I just watch off the DVR?
...apparently they release it On Demand the day before airing. Wish I had known that at the start of the season.

I watched it from a recording.
EDIT: Looks like they aired both episodes at 10:00 AM this morning (Central).
I really wish Amazon would put up episodes of this up sooner. They usually don't get them up and watchable until Sunday morning.
I prefer the DVR since I can skip the ads, since I've clearly aged out of Disney XD's target demographic.

Your My Little Pony, Transformers and American Girl figurines that reside on your desk would beg to differ.
You mean you don't care about Mech X4!?

You mean Batman, Captains Kirk and Picard, a bunch of starships Enterprise, a bat'leth letter opener, the Death Star, and a wooden submarine carved by my late grandfather, don't you?
Well. Wow.
So no one is falling to the dark side, at least, not with Maul dead. We're rebels and light side all the way.
I'm psyched that it looks like Kallus will be part of the group going forward.
Also a prediction: Phoenix gets some X-Wings. Poor Wedge flying around in that... well, wedge actually. Hm.
Anyway, that was great. Thrawn actually has weaknesses beyond needing to control things. Shooting Bendu when he could have learned something instead? Not the Thrawn I know, which is why phoenix is able to survive.
Watched the Maul episode with my kids last night. Wow. Just wow.
I admit I was let down a bit when it got to the point of only eight minutes left with no Kenobi on screen, but the screen time he did get was everything I could asked for and its ending was totally earned. Masterful storytelling.
