This thread was COMPLETELY out of date, so I decided to start over fresh with it. This is yer average catch-all for all horror related games for 2015 and beyond!
Most recent releases of note:
ZombiU - Arrived on Steam and next gen consoles, minus the multiplayer functionality but otherwise the same great survival horror game with light rogue-like elements.
Until Dawn - PS4 release. Choose your own slasher flick!
Coming soon...
SOMA (22nd September) - Sooon now....so very sooooon....
Perception - Still a kickstarter at the time of writing, but I have my fingers crossed for it.
Fatal Frame 5 - IDEAL for the WiiU's controller.
Untitled Nippon Ichi title (thanks Mantid) - not sure what this is about, aside from being some sort of first person asthmatic dalek simulator.
Just a few more from my Steam library
Haunted Memories - Another Slenderman game. First chapter is free.
Huntsman: The Orphanage
Montas - Probably unrepresentative "teaser" of a game in Early Access hell.
Necronomicon
And should your first Braken Tor be Barrow Hill?
Hello. I'm a weirdo who usually only likes horror if it has at least a whiff of Lovecraft to it.
Since I'm now planning to get a PS4 to play Bloodborne - coincidentally, a horror game - I'm anticipating playing Ethan Carter on PS4 next year.

Same here. In addition to the original Alone in the Dark check out another under-appreciated game by Imotion, Prisoner of Ice, a Lovecraftian point n click'er from 1995 that takes place during WWII, and some other strange aeons.
Love this thread, thanks!
For side scrollers, what about Home and Lone Survivor?
Good, another thread I can spam the upcoming horror short story collection I worked on.
It's sounding like most of you are waiting for the PS4 version of Vanishing to play. I went ahead and pre-ordered the game today on Steam, so I'll report back on what I find!
Nude Maker has announced a spiritual sequel to Clock Tower called Project Scissors. The press release can be found here (warning: it's a PDF).
The game is a murder mystery set on a luxury cruise. The crew is murdered and the ship set adrift.
Of particular interest to me is this tidbit:
Masahiro Ito, the creature designer for the venerated Silent Hill franchise, has joined the
project as the creature and prop designer of the project.
Going to be for Vita and mobile platforms.
GoG ran a preview stream of Vanishing over the weekend with Total Biscuit. Here's the archive. Standard spoiler warnings apply.
Since I have it on pre-order, I'll pass on the preview and just play it on the 25th.
I agree. Looking forward to playing it when I get home.
Neverending Nightmares is tomorrow y'all. I'm waiting to hear when they're getting steam keys out to us backer people.
It's already cleared its Kickstarter goal and is working on stretch goals now.
Curses! My secret has been revealed! I would have succeeded if it wasn't for those meddling video game developers.
In all honesty, it kinda falls into the same category as Plague Inc. Interesting premise, and disturbingly fun to destroy all of humanity...
Which includes this guy...
The game itself is pretty boiler-plate but I can certainly see the potential for horror with the Oculus.
My concern is that Oculus horror games are likely to thrive too much, perhaps entirely, on shock scares.
Apparently 'Vanishing' is possibly being delayed a few hours while they work on some niggling bugs that they feel they need to fix before pushing the game out on Steam. Which is annoying, but better than immersion breaking bugs I guess.
A few hours has turned into many hours, I guess. I'm still not getting the option to install.

Uploading started around 50 minutes ago, so I'm assuming it's soonish. I wouldn't plan around it.
I can download now. And perfect timing! I just got done with this week's podcast.
Yeah, I'm downloading now. Having to go out of town for the weekend so I won't be able to spend a lot of time with it until Monday, but maybe I can look at it a bit tonight after all.
Hey kids! I got a riddle for you!
What do you have when you solve a gruesome murder, followed immediately by chasing a cosmonaut through a forest and into space?
Answer: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter!
Seriously, I need to stop because I made the mistake of having a vodka and orange juice before playing and I'm not sure if the cosmonaut bit was real or imagined... really strange game either way.
Also, no voluntary save points... just autosave...
Yeah, I'm a bit unhappy with that. And inverting the Y axis on the mouse doesn't work.
That said, I don't care. So far the game is amazing.
And this is one of the most gorgeous games I've ever played!
I'm sure I'm missing some things. I've found the train scene. And the house with the doors. So far I'm happy.

Did you find the Cosmonaut thing, or did I really just imagine that? It was in the forest after the train. You find this functioning stoplight thing...
No I didn't, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. After fooling around with the train for a while I gave up and headed straight for the dam and the buildings on the other side.
Train scene
I found the train, the obvious place where the guy got run over and the body off the tracks. If I try to interact with the body it says something about the crime scene being disturbed.
I found the crank by the lake, started the train and moved it back to where it started (based on the dead grass). I get an odd sound when I exit the train (which makes me think I'm in the right spot) but still can't do anything with the body.
Very start of game (after exiting tunnel)
I did find all the traps and get the scene about the fire and the "sap"
Just across the dam
Found the mansion where Ethan apparently disturbed the "sleeper". Then I found the place with the glowy doors that lead you places.
That's where I stopped.
