It's time for Gen Con!
GWJ is hitting Gen Con in force this year and we're … well, it seems like we're mostly unpacking and waiting in the will-call line right now, but we're super excited!
My personal Gen Con strategy tends to be to set a very loose schedule, except for interview times and GWJ events. That way I'm free to go with whatever random encounter the dice dictate. I know we've got a few important GWJ events, but there's always more fun stuff to experience.
Here's a brief, initial list of events on my radar. Let me know what I'm missing, or what you'd like me to direct GWJ's attention to!
- D&D 5e. Duh.
- Our very own JR Rall's new film, Dark Dungeons makes its world premiere tonight at 7PM! There is also a second screening tomorrow (Friday, the 15th) at 5pm. See the Dark Dungeons site for more details.
- Our meetup and live podcast are Saturday night! PM Charlie "TheWanderer" Hall for info.
- Other World Theatre, a group from Chicago, is putting on Of Dice And Men. McChuck saw it at their home theater and really liked it.
- McChuck also notes, "Also, tell everyone that Dead Of Winter is crap and that whatever they do, DON'T rush to Plaid Hat first thing Thursday morning."
- The Gen Con Film Festival, includes a film version of Of Dice And Men.
Like I said, this is pretty bare-bones. That leaves me room to conduct secret dark-ops investigations, including a couple interviews, standing in line for things, and play-testing EVERYTHING.
We've already had some discussion in the GWJ thread about what's worth checking out this year, but I want to know more! What have you heard dark rumors about? Who do you want us to hunt down and ask pointed questions? What games should I let distract me until I have to sprint to the bathroom?

The con's mobile site is super useful, for those at the show. Maps, listings, food truck info, etc.
Words... are a big deal.

Is it "crap" because it's really crap, or is McChuck trying to out race everyone for a copy?
The latter is the better bet.
