I suspect you are underestimating CK3 at release.
After reading some first impressions it does seem like Paradox learned a lot from their mistakes with Imperator: Rome. I may be getting to CK3 sooner than I thought
Yeah. Tried Imperator again. It's... Better, but not up to CK3 standards yet. Some weird stuff still goes on. Tboon, I might have egged you a bit much in that regard.

I am used to it from you and Veloxi
I bounced off Crusader Kings 2 after my first attempt (base game) a while back. After playing I knew there was a good game somewhere under that hud, but I got frustrated floundering around and then distracted by other games - I kept meaning to go back!
I did pick up all that DLC from the Humble deal earlier this year so perhaps now is the time to jump in? I guess it will be a year or two (or three?) before CK3 is fully formed with content and at a (semi) reasonable price. I may as well take my time with CK2 and hopefully get to enjoy a game that so many people put at the top of their favourite game lists
I've been dabbling in CK2 for years, and I will totally keep dabbling. The hope is that I transition to CK3 after it has had several expansions and had its UI streamlined.
I bounced off of CKI in the day, bounced off of II even though I heard great things again and again
but CKIII?
An hour of the tutorial and and hour of playtime and I was fully comfortable and loving it.
