Downloaded it last night to check it out for free. Character creation took a while as is the queue. Dear lord that queue; 543 in line with est. 50 min wait. Guess I'll try again when NA is asleep.
Played for about 30 minutes today on an Assassin in one of the new servers. The targeting seems a bit strange on default settings, I'll need to look up how to toggle through targets. Can get jumpy, not sure if it's a latency issue. Other than that, game looks great.
Now most if not all of the BnS servers are down. Right when my kids fall asleep and I'm hoping to clock in a few hours before NA wakes up and kill the queues!!
Pretty sure there's no tab targeting. Everything is skill shot based.
There is no tab targeting but there is a targeting system. You can make changes to it in the options to make it looser or stickier.
Holy cow, a 42 minute wait for premium members tonight! 1620 premium members in queue and only 1287 non-premium members -- I guess everyone's buying the week-long premium membership.
On a happier note, I started playing a new MMO in the meantime -- Gun & Cowboy, a Western-themed MMO from Korea. It's a lot like Blade & Soul, but set in the Old West.
I play on Gunma as the original server queues are pretty long. Latency is pretty bad at times, not sure I will play for more than a month unless they launch an Oceana server.
Not sure if I like the weapon upgrade design and the need for keys and seals.
1500 in queue yesterday. +900 minutes wait. Guess I won't play soon when I got only 1-2 hours a night to play...
Does the level design ever open up? I get that the tiny, linear corridor design is pretty standard for eastern MMO's, but it feels like a huge waste given the movement and traversal in this game. It encourages exploration but I haven't encountered anything to explore yet. I'm in the third quest zone and I can literally run across the entire area at normal speed in less than two minutes.
I am not sure what you mean by "the third quest zone" but yeah, the zones do get bigger. After about lvl 25 or so, you move to a new kinda continent and the zones there are much bigger.
However, quests seem to become more boring - bring 10 hides, bring 12 tails, it's getting tiring.
Combat system seems very exciting but by the time you are lvl 30, you understand your skills, you've designed and practiced your combos and the whole combat becomes more of a routine.
And PvP is dominated by the top level characters. Sigh.
Fired this up last night, at urging from Javamancer. Seems fun.
Until the part with the spinning wheel in the graveyard. Apparently I just need the specific breakthrough weapon for my class (Force Master). Well I've opened 9 boxes already and got weapons for every other class including 3 or 4 duplicates of some.
Very frustrating. I guess I could just go on and quest but at some point my weapon will have to be upgraded. Can't even buy one from the market because you have to be level 15, and I'm only 7 or 8.
I guess I could ask around in local and see if anyone else is having the same bad luck and can trade or something? Just feels weird to hit a wall like that so early in the game.
If the RNG gods are unfriendly at that level you can buy a key from the in game store or like you mentioned ask in chat. People are always wanting to trade for something they want.
Of course all I really needed to do was complain about it. Logged back in and I had 2 more to open that I just didn't want to try earlier, and one of them had the right weapon. After that I got to use some of those extras to go straight to weapon level 10, so that was nice.
Onward!
I'll admit I've spent some money on keys to avoid the RNG.

Just wait until you have to run a dungeon to get the weapon you need to upgrade your weapon. You can't even buy that on the market, so it's either spend money for a key or run the dungeon and hope you get lucky. I had to run it only once. My friend ran it about 15 times IIRC.
Somehow PvE questing and dungeoning got more and more boring as I leveled up and I wasn't able to push my self to level up beyond lvl 30 or so.
