Michigan Mini Slap&Tickle Thread

I can make this happen as along as it is tomorrow. I cannot make it happen on Sunday. There are posts here talking about it being Sunday, but the title has been changed to Saturday. So, confirm for me that it is tomorrow and I'm in.

It's tomorrow. You're in! (tee hee)

Looks like we got:
KG
carrot
signus
domano
chabuda/hoxie
(possible jow)

Is there a game or two that I should bring?

I think KG is going to run Last Night on Earth and then we'll have some time left to play something else or two. I can bring Citadels. Any game you'd like to play that isn't too tough to teach, Hox?

I'll bring a few options that aren't too difficult to learn.

I've got Ticket To Ride--that's usually the go-to board game at my place for anyone who isn't into board games or we don't have time to learn a new game.

Also, I'll be bringing the wife along as she digs board games. Just as a heads up for player count.

Hox and I are noted fans.

Well, there we go--I'll make sure to bring it then

What I like about last night, it is quick for anyone who has played Left 4 Dead to pick up. It is L4D the boardgame.

I will pick a quicker game type to wet everyone's whistles. We can return with another type or move to a different game later on.

Also the little woman is coming with me, so pants on gents.

You gotta work to see what's under these pants, KG.

I have some Big League Chew.

It is possible that the Lady K and I will make an appearance at some point. It's a bit of a trip (about an hour and a half or so) and during the time of day while I'm normally asleep, but we'll see what happens. Until yesterday I thought we might be back in Cleveland again, but we're apparently taking a break for that from a couple weeks. Otherwise I might have taken Oily up on his offer and made him grill for us.

That would be cool, but no worries if you can't make it. We'll try to do more of these, for sure.

I am officially out - snapped a tierod on my vehicle today and have no vehicle until tomorrow at the earliest.

I'm stuck reworking kitchen cabinets before they deliver my new refrigerator today (old one not going below 60).

Have fun guys.

Will miss you both!

Okay, what's the name of this place we're meeting up at? I know it says nerd shop on the front page, but what's the real name?

I believe it's called Collectible Treasures and Mythical Realms.

Groovy groovy....Getting ready to head out there now. See ya'll in a bit!

I deem Michigan Mini Tickle v1 a rousing success! The comic book shop owner was totally cool with us flopping in his back room and said we're welcome to come back any Saturday for pick up gaming without a schedule.

We played:
Bohnanza - A fun and simple card game with a heavy bartering element. I came out on top of this one, but we were all feeling through different strategies. KG deployed his soon to be patented spite everyone else via keep away strat, while Hox and Signus were tough bargainers.
Last Night on Earth - The humans took this one, even with the Keldar zombie enforcement troops that parachuted in after the first few turns. Don't mess with Jenny when she's got the pitchfork/torch combo! MMMMULTI-KILL! Clutch saves from KG and Mrs. Domano, too. Hox grunted a lot about rolling poorly, until he stole the lucky die from Domano.
Citadels - The apparent leader shifted many times early, all the while people relished in killing and stealing from poor last place me. A comeback from Lady Blue to beat out her main squeeze Keldar shocked everyone!

I second that! A lot of fun playing with all of you, even though I was fighting to take the title of "Not Last" That was the first time playing all three of those games, and I definitely enjoyed all of them

Looking forward to the next Mini Tickle!

Good times for all. I love you guys. Last Night can take awhile to get rolling, but once the Zombies start cranking the horde and the cards, the heroes get the weaponry the pace escalates. It is a bit like a Romero Movie in that way, slow for the first third, and then a crescendo.

Little lady and some other friends are all about a dinner and game party. Arkham Horror anyone?

She was worried you all thought she hated you or something.

I can't turn down free dinner but I'm a little meh on a game that is going to take 4-6 hours and involve people telling other people what to do for the sake of the team.

Wish I could have made this. It seems every time a goodjer gathering happens I have prior commitments. Thanks for the invite Carrot hopefully I will be able to make it another time.

I think you have a fair point. I have a friend who has been looking to play his for a long time. It is a tough game to get enough people together to play, even tougher to get them to stick around for.

TAOS: next time!

KG: I'm sure there are many other games we could consider...

Twilight emperium only lasts about 4 hours...

God no!

God yes!

What's that you say? Twilight Emperium? Why yes--don't mind if I do

It's a good thing you lot are already coming to pencon.

I also bought a game called Eclipse. It's pretty great, it's basically TI lite.

Dammit! I've been trying to get my hands on that game since I heard about it on some podcast (maybe Three Moves Ahead?). I had it pre-ordered through BoardGameGeek but a few weeks ago my order was cancelled Now it seems like the price for the game has skyrocketed to $90+
