Mass Effect Andromeda Catch-All

And all of this, right here, is why I think this is proooooooobably never going to happen.

Almost everyone wants something different than others, even if they're just minor things.

EA is going to do some market research and surveys and realize "holy sh*t, there is no way to do this right".

Market research is not about whether there's a way to do it right. Market research is about whether there is a way to do it that makes financial sense. You don't have to please all of the people completely for something to make financial sense, no matter what eleven angry guys on a website have to say.

Demo, the diversity of opinions on a remake hasn't stopped Square Enix from the FFVII project. That said I'm not sure there's as much support for ME1/ME2 remake.

I put down ME1 unfinished somewhere pretty advanced in the story chasing down Saren. I don't recall ME1 as fondly as ME2 or ME3. But I'd probably grab a redone ME1 if combat is like any of its successors.

I've been hankering for playing through the entire trilogy a second time for a while now so I'ld pick up a remastered version even if it was just the graphics and cinematics that were improved.

Even with as patently bad as the combat is in ME1, I'd buy a remaster in a heartbeat. The game still has one of the singly best ending sequences in all of gaming history, and, while it's a bit of a slog, it's worth it at the end.

I think the big problem is I loved the Engineer class in ME3, and, if I start over as one, does that mean no Tali in my party? It's a horrible concept.

Manveer Heir has convinced me not to buy this game.

Keep in mind nothing has been confirmed yet. They're saying they're "looking at it" and considering following other publishers.

If Andromeda is due for a 2018 release (I feel like I heard that somewhere), then a 2017 remaster of the trilogy would make sense. But I wouldn't count on it quite yet.

Far as I can tell, still early 2017, but the lack of E3 stuff makes me nervous.

New 4K footage from the PS4 Pro event today.

I had to stop because they told me to stop if I wasn't watching on a 4K display.

Oh well maybe they will put out a version for use losers.

I'm fine with super-sampling a 4K game on my 1080p TV.

"Only people with 4K displays can watch our game that's totally just 1080p but upscaled to 4K."

That video was the most UE looking Frostbite clip I've ever seen.

Scanning plants? What is this, No Man's Sky?

If I'm not mistaken it was actually Halo 1 .

Spoiler:

It did strongly resemble Halo 1. I wonder if that section of the game is going to be called the 'uncommunicative mapmaker.'

I presume that Asari's awkward running animation is part of what makes this pre-alpha? Because otherwise I really need someone to explain to me what makes something Alpha or Beta gameplay at this point.

Otherwise, I dug the aesthetic of it at least.

I always wonder why Aliens make a system that raises bridges that still need to be jumped over to reached.

... man, that's a lot of chest high walls. There must be a shooting segment in here.

And this thing is a Vault? Are we Vault Hunters? EXPLOSIONS? Or, wait, maybe we're Vault Dwellers instead. Are we running out of water? Is there a GECK in one of these vaults?

This was a dull showcase. Of all the scenes they could have shown us. See some plant scanning, some platforming and then some fleeing from mist. Guess saving the good stuff for this N7 day?

While I didn't watch it in GLORIOUS SUPER DUPER AMAZEBALLS 4K VIDYAAAAAAAA I did notice that there were a lot of tiny details that would have stood out better in a higher resolution. Particle effects, namely. This wasn't meant to showcase intensive gameplay, where you'd likely start getting too distracted to notice the fine details. They wanted to use a segment that would allow you (assuming you already have a 4K display at your disposal) to calmly take in all the details in the environment.

I'm sure GameGuru thought it was gorgeous.

It is ME2 all over again. Always knew when sh*t was about to hit the fan and how bad it was going to be by how many half height walls were in an area.

FTFY.

Where did the three extra people come from? Looked like he was exploring alone and then all of a sudden there are 4 people there. Have they mastered the classic Final Fantasy overworld merge technique? Is that a new technology they have discovered in Andromeda or a new biotic ability? Also I hope at some point in the game a Krogan uses that suitcase handle on the back of the armor to carry someone around like a piece of luggage

I watched it on a compressed 1080P YouTube feed over LTE so it looked like a next gen Mass Effect game. I was never a big Mass Effect guy but I'm sure I will probably get it at some point and hopefully it will stick unlike the previous 3.

I liked it, I even thought the Asari's run was kind of cool.

She strikes me as "non-combat" personnel who is officially learning, but still panics and gets awkward.

That said, for a company that has usually worked hard at being inclusive of fans of all stripes, starting with a massive "if you're not using the latest multi-thousand dollar monitor, go away" is reaaaaaaally f*cking lame.

Say what now?

"What a lot of people don't know, little surprise here, is that these two are brother and sister," Walters said. "And they both exist in the game world at the same time. So if you're playing as the sister Ryder, female Ryder, your brother is somewhere in the universe."

It's like Hawke, but in space...

To be fair, she had an exposed midriff so her armor was definitely the best among the crew present.

/snark

Be cool if they included some kind of co-op story mode, though I would rather jump in as a non-human squad member.

I keep hoping that one of these times, they'll finally do it and let me be Salarian.

This is not that time. :'(

Volus Adept. Please. Now.

I wonder if the Volus will even be in the game or if we'll stick to generally the species that were the "main" ones throughout the series prior. Having a hanar onboard could be quite interesting given their religious beliefs centering on the prior dominant civilization.

Wow I sounded like a real sourpuss, hehe. The problem is I have ME2 in m heart, sitting atop a glimmering pedestal. I'm trying to keep the faith that Andromeda will be half the game ME2 (and to an extent ME1) was. I get it's going to be pretty with all that Frostbyte tech. But is it gonna give me the touchy feelies? Will I get to reenact an equivalent to dickhead Shepard? Will it be able to bring a sense of wonder or will the franchise feel like it is getting too shopworn and familiar despite being MIA for almost five years? (actually I don't know how they can tackle that last one but Dragon Age already went in that direction for me)
