The all-new legal marijuana thread

My friends wife works for the DEA and posted that article with the comment "We did?"

WA had the opposite.

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington's legal recreational marijuana market is bringing in more tax revenue to the state than originally predicted, state officials said Wednesday.

The most recent revenue forecast released by the Economic and Revenue Forecast Council shows that the industry is expected to bring in more than $694 million in state revenue through the middle of 2019. A previous forecast in September had that projection at about $636 million.

The latest report shows that nearly $43 million from a variety of marijuana-related taxes — including excise, sales, and business taxes — is expected to be collected through the middle of next year.

About $237 million is expected for the next two-year budget that ends mid-2017, and $415 million more is expected for the 2017-19 budget biennium.

I wonder to what extent the lower tax revenue in Colorado is tied not to lack of interest but to lack of availability. There are a number of larger, more populous counties that have so far refused to allow legal dispensaries to open. If the tax estimates were based on projected sales based on more widespread availability, that would certainly account for the discrepancy.

I have heard through some sources that a lot of that is also due to Colorado becoming a large export state, which has affected street prices in nearby states.
I bet that the tax revenue goes up once all the crops get on the books, but until you can't just drive it a few hours on an interstate for a much higher wholesale return, that's not going to happen.

As someone who both lives in Washington and owns an ice-cream maker, I am ashamed that I haven't tried this already.

I have a lot of questions for Link.

Seriously though, already riding the Google Train to Cannamilk Town, and have found a recipe for mint-chocolate-weed ice cream.

The next logical step is a brain-exploding take on an Its-It, with pot cookies, natch. Might need to come up with a better name. Nots-It? Its-Pot? Uh-oh?

I'm amazed that no one in Colorado has already done this (commercially).

I'm not sure about ice cream, but other edibles are really common.

From the one time I've been into one of the weed stores here to have a look-see, there were plenty of cookies, brownies, suckers and pot-butter (for your own cooking escapades), but no ice-cream. I suspect that the spoilability of it makes it less attractive to the store owners?

That'd be my guess.

You know, I want to post a bunch of stuff here, but Jonman if you want more info PM me.

Nah, I'm good. This ain't my first rodeo.

My wife went out and picked up her Massachusetts Medical Marijuana Card today. She's also spent the last week researching and planning accessories.

Dugout. Ain't no question. Get a dugout.

Go all in. Get a volcano.

She's actually leaning towards a PAX2 vape.

Reviews on that have been really good. If you're looking for portability that's definitely it. The volcano is a stay at home model.

So I misspoke. A few weeks back, my wife went out for her Massachusetts MMJ "consultation".

Just got her temporary card today, emailed to her as a PDF no less, with the formal card coming in a few weeks. So she rushed out to get some pipes and scheduled a Leafly delivery for tomorrow.

jelly

So, is there going to be an S&T / game night for the MA GWJ chapter at the McIrishJihad household this weekend?

Hey now, this stuff is for the legitimate treatment of multiple sclerosis and back pain...

Spoiler:

;)

My wife ordered half an ounce of a single strain for $160 (delivery required +$150 in your order), and the person making the run only had a third of an ounce of that strain left. So she showed with small amounts of a dozen other strains, and my wife ended up with a little over half an ounce made up of 5 different strains, fixed at $160.

Got her lit up for the first time last night, and she was feeling comfortable after the first hit, and super chill by the third.

Still need to get her to work on her technique though. For some reason, the head shop she stopped at suggested starting out with a carbed bubbler.

Much easier on the lungs. Less coughing.

Carbs are good.
Or get a solid little bong with a bowl you can rip out.

Oh, I totally love carbs. It's just a lot for someone who has never smoked before to take in how to do everything.

So what did she name her bubbler?

30 days since my last post.

Wife has upgraded to a Pax2 vape, and this is basically the only way she consumes. Only breaks out the bubbler or pipe when the vape is charging. Has bought a few edibles, and likes them. Has made her 2nd MMJ delivery order (even though she still had and eighth left over from the previous order). Basically smokes at least a bowl a day from the vape.

Chronic back pain is managed, depression and anxiety are abated, general mood has increased.

Bubbler is named "Ernie", because it's short and orange.

My wife has also taken to referring to herself as "Lindsay" when she's been medicating.

Spoiler:

After starting my new job, I point-blank asked about drug tests. Was told to do whatever I want so long as it doesn't interfere with my ability to work. Have been partaking of the wife's stash on a regular basis.

STONED BUNNIES doesn't quite have the same ring as REEFER MADNESS

It's just sad the kind of mental gymnastics the DEA goes through these days.
