The Legend of Korra - The End

My main concern is that we've seen this story already, and as a TV series.

While I agree with you, the TV show ran from 2005 to 2008. There's 10-year-olds alive now who didn't see it while it was airing, and it doesn't have a release date set yet.

For the rest of us, I do have more questions. Will it live up to the original? Will it stick to the exact storyline or change things up? We don't know yet. I don't know if the writers know yet. While there's a bunch of big lynch-pin episodes, there are other parts that could be expanded or contracted.

Do we know the target audience for this one? The original being a cartoon let them get away with a lot in a story set amidst the horrors of war, starting with Zuko's scar.

I guess what I'm not getting is this: what does live action offer that animation didn't? Seems silly to just remake the originals with live actors. I think it's quite unlikely that they'd improve on it, and it would be extremely easy to blow it. Any possible upside is limited and iffy; the downsides are large and likely. Seems like a poor idea.

I'd rather see them doing something new. Are they out of stories to tell?

Some people won't watch cartoons. I don't understand it either.

I suspect this isn't the original showrunners' first preference, but my guess is that Netflix wanted a live action show and only then picked the thing to remake.

Just a thing to remember, the producers of this netflix show were also sub producers on the movie.

A live action version of the original could be a bridge to new live action stories/content for Avatar if it's successful.

A re-done Legend of Korra would be pretty neat too, if they took the chance to tidy up the plot. And gave us more Korra / Asami, since they wouldn't be held back by Nickelodeon.

I notice they've been keeping that quiet, because I didn't know about that until just now.
