The Wolf Among Us Catch-All - All episodes released!

More Fables! Awesome!

It is every bit as good as TWD so far

Started replaying again just to see the difference if certain choices are made (still going to stick with the original save for episode 2 though). I'm sure, like walking dead, the differences will be fairly minimal.

One thing I DID notice...

Spoiler:

"unassuming skinny ginger dude" also shows up walking away from Toad's apartment building as Bigby's cab is pulling up. That's an awful lot of important scenes this guy shows up in or near. DEFINITELY a person of interest (or a clever red herring).

Absolutely loved it. Can't wait for the next episode. Has any release date been announced??

So what's the verdict? PC or console? Any difference in quality?

I played on the 360, but really can't imagine there being much of a difference. This isn't exactly Crisis 3 you know...

I meant more in control scheme. I browsed this game briefly a few days ago, but haven't looked too deeply into it. Was just epic laziness on my part to let others do my research for me.

Difference is that analog works better for movement, and mouse works better for interacting because of their new UI.

I also thought Ep 1 was quite good. As someone familiar with the comics, I'm very intrigued by the ending.

Comic/game spoilers

Spoiler:

That's obviously not Snow White, she uses her head often in Fables! So, we're likely dealing with some sort of magical work on top of a possible kidnapping. What's going on?

I'm not familiar with the source material, but I'm hooked. I didn't care for all the action-y QTEs, but they didn't keep me from enjoying the first episode. However, I really should have waited for all the episodes to come out, because now I have to wait.

This is a small gripe, but I would have preferred a deeper, more gravelly voice for Bigby.

I finished act one last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, but found that i had a harder time connecting to Bigby than i did Lee. It's a different beast than Walking Dead and i need to recalibrate my expectations. The stakes are lower (murder investigation vs zombie apocalypse), the scope is smaller (at least i'm assuming we won't go road tripping), and since it's a prequel I know roughly where many of the characters are going to end up. My memory may also be effing with me since i didn't play Walking Dead until all five chapters were out.

I definitely need to replay it with a clearer idea of the direction i want Bigby to take, i'm just not sure if i should go to the library and re-read the first few Fables books first or not.

Heads up if you are planning on getting this for the PS3. The store update does not have the season pass, which is apparently going up on Friday. The season pass will be all 5 episodes for $20, as opposed to $5 per episode. I'm waiting until I can buy the season pass, so I don't buy Episode 1 twice.

Source

I'll just copy my steam rec:

I should've gone to sleep 2 hours ago. Just popped into this game for a few minutes to check it out, and somehow I finished it.

It's really, really, really good. If you liked the Walking Dead game, this is better, because werewolves are cooler.

But seriously, I loved the setting, it looks beautiful and it's just *fun*. You don't need great reflexes to enjoy, even failing is cool. Not a lot of puzzle solving, some investigating. Haven't enjoyed an adventure game so much since Grim Fandango, it's really creative, 10/10. Seriously, try it. Worth full price for sure.
I might check out the comic after playing this, that's how much I liked it.

Exactly how I feel man. A great experience for sure.

I know, it's totally Sam from Sam & Max voice.

I haven't played The Walking Dead because 1) Adventure game 2) I don't like the show and am unfamiliar with the comics 3) I just haven't got around to it and 4) Zombies are the most played out thing in 'popular' culture. So this...

may have sold me on the game.

Once all the episodes are out, natch.

Sounds like Vernon from the Walking Dead ep. 4

It's the same guy that voiced Andy St. John. (and possibly Hershel as well?)

Also she's not in this episode much but Beauty is Melissa Hutchison (Clementine )

Huh, didn't realize that for Beauty but definitely did with Toad Jr.

Noo, buy it NOW

Speaking of, when do new episodes come out? Still thinking about this game, it was pretty cool, don't even know where it came from. I really want to read Fables but don't want to spoil how it all ends up because apparently the game is before the story in the comics.

If it's anything like TWD then it'll probably be roughly a month (give or take a week or two) between episodes. But I suppose it depends on how much they've put together ahead of time and whether or not they want it to overlap TWD Season 2.

Hah! Another (spoilery) thing I just noticed watching a lets play....

Spoiler:

Pretty sure that the Ginger haired guy that crops up in almost every other scene is driving the cab that Snow and Bigby take to the Trip Trap!

Just picked this thing up, surprised there's not more traffic.

I know nothing about the source material. I'm going in totally cold. And that first episode was awesome. It's so goddamn good.

It felt almost like reading a book, in a way... it gives me exactly the same feeling I had after about three or four chapters of The Name of the Wind. You know that sense of... um, I guess the best way to put it is knowing that you're in the hands of someone who is fantastic at what he or she does. This doesn't happen very often, even in books, and I think it might be the first time I've felt that sense of a perfect tale in computer form.

Not that there haven't been many excellent computer stories over the years, but I think this is the first one that has the sense of great fiction, not just good fiction.

This game is fantastic, the story got me so hooked that I went and picked up the first novel from Comixology. I wish this game got more press, it deserves it.

I told you it was good u_u

BTW people are telling me to not read the comics yet because they might spoil some parts of the story, so I'll wait until the game is done (apparently the game is sort of a prequel)

Seriously guys if you haven't got this yet, give it a shot, it's 5 bucks for an episode (I already bought the whole season).

Podcast guys need to get on this too, I feel like Elysium would love it if he wasn't glued to Rocksmith.

Yes, there's a part of this prequel that would be spoiled if you've read any of the comics. On the other hand, I'm not sure how long they'll keep that thread. My guess would be the end of episode two, or thereafter. I'll give a headsup when the time comes for people who're concerned about spoiling the game by reading the comic.

The season pass is now up on the PSN store - $19.99 for all 5 episodes.

Oh, by the way, calling it now (my prediction of whodunnit):

Spoiler:

It's Bluebeard. That guy scared the sh*t out of me when I was little. It has to be Bluebeard.

That seems a little too obvious, given that he's got previous

Spoiler:

Although I really like how Bigbly can immediately jump to accusing him even without any evidence - given the folder on his desk in the apartment it gives a real impression that he's out to find SOMETHING to charge the guy with

Personally, I'm finding this theory which I read somewhere to be rather compelling...

Spoiler:

Whether or not he's the murderer or just a giant red herring, "Ginger-hair dude" hounds Bigby and snow through every scene and is the last person in direct contact with Snow (he's driving the cab). He also has shepherd's crooks on his tie, which would suggest that he might be...

Spoiler:

..."The Boy Who Cried Wolf" out for a little payback against Bigby?

I must say, that's much better analysis than mine. Wouldn't surprise me at all if you're right.

Wow, this game totaly grabed me by the %ts. Can't wait for the next episode.

I really appreciate you guys using the spoilers! I am excited for this game, but want to wait until more episodes are out. I just like reading peoples reactions to the game!

After more thought, I think I'm fully in support of Stevenmack's Theory of Whodunit. It makes sense on multiple levels. I think he's even got the motive right.

Fairly major Ep1 spoilers here:

Spoiler:

After all, the Boy Who Cried Wolf is all about warning people of imagined danger. I wonder if he's trying to push Bigby into making a terrible mistake, revealing him for "the monster he truly is?"

I don't think Faith is dead, the mirror had no trouble showing a dead person, while saying that scrying her is blocked. We know Glamours exist, so that could be someone else's head with a spell on it, or maybe not even a head at all.

After a replay, I noticed a small detail that might be important:

Spoiler:

Faith says, twice, that 'her lips are sealed' if you ask her about her employer. And then the mirror also uses that same language when you try to scry her, and hints that it's being forced to do so.
