Huh, I didn't know that Starburns was the creator of Moral Orel.

His name is Alex! I mean Dino.

Season 3 DVD just had a price drop on Amazon. $19.96! They've had the same price for the previous two seasons on pre-order, so I hadn't ordered this one since it was $30 when I checked last week.

Anyway, just trying to support the show. 6 seasons and all.

Is there any reason that Community isn't on Blu-Ray?

Because you touch yourself at night.

Does touching myself during the day offset that at all?

All the cleverness I can muster at 1:40 in the morning on a work day was packed into that last comment. And even that was stolen from Family Guy. I'm so sorry I failed you all. I have to sleep now. I have to get up early for ComicCon.

Well to be fair, Amazon has a pre-order price guarantee whereby you get the cheapest price the item is ever offered for (before shipping) once you pre-order. So even though I pre-ordered it weeks ago I'll get the same price.

Mmm, DVDs! Think I'm done for the day and going to watch some commentary, outtakes, etc.

I can't WAIT to see the outtakes. They're my favorite, and there are sooo many.

Well the commentaries are hilarious so far. 1st episode is ok. 2nd episode (United Nations), they are apparently having margaritas while they talk, so things get progressively weirder. Just started 3rd ep, and it's Chaos Theory instead of Todd/Ecology. Apparently I wasn't aware back in Sept that Chaos Theory should be 3rd. The whole joke at the start of the episode with their apartment being 303 instead of 304 was because the episode took too long to edit and got aired out of order.

I slipped up, and just barely got my order in. Amazon projects shipping in 7 to 11 days....

And now Allison Brie drops an f-bomb in the Moving episode.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Allison Brie...

You will not be disappointed.

I am in tears on the first disc.

Spoiler:

Donald does his Bill Cosby, and it's hilarious. Allison Brie rapping that I think they showed a few weeks ago on Facebook. There's a very dirty Alison and a cup... well, just watch...

I am jealous. What's the deal with TV shows not being released on Blu-ray? I can't bring myself to order DVDs anymore.

Not sure. I'd guess Sony/NBC being stupid about the budget of this show, as they are about most things. There's been a few comments in these commentaries about "notes from the studio" where they always want to eliminate some of the funniest/best parts of episodes. Like the Annie's Move where a note from the execs was to cut the musical montage between Jeff/Dean, Pierce's Fantasy, and the Hitchhiker Jesus. It's the climax of the episode.... and they're like "cut that please".

Anyway, I tend to agree. I never bought DVDs of a lot of shows that have been in HD recently, but waited and went back to get the blu rays when there was a complete series set. I haven't got that with LOST yet, mostly due to my disappointment with the final season. But I fully intend to pre-order the Fringe complete series blu-ray if it's released next year.

Community has been one of those shows that seems to be in danger of being canceled repeatedly, so I thought buying the DVDs was a good way to show support. Although now after what's happened to Harmon, it's hard to say what's the right move.

The good thing is they have commentary on every single episode, an outtakes set for each of the 4 discs in every season, and a deleted scenes section on each of the 4 discs in every season, and some various other special features about holiday episodes, and so on. It's really a great value for the extras they pack in, even if the actual show isn't shown in full 720p like it was aired.

I can pretty much echo everything you just said. I want these on Blu-Ray but I couldn't wait to see season 1 for the first time any longer so I just bought seasons 1-3 on DVD.

I too plan on getting Lost on Blu-Ray but the last season dampened my enthusiasm for buying all of them now.

I'm really looking forward to watching every episode and commentaries.

Wait, the blu-rays aren't in 720p?
Que f*ck?

There aren't blu rays boogle, only DVDs. That's the discussion.

And guys... on disc 2 there's a Documentary about the pilow fort documentary episode... it's like... mind-boggling, and awesome.

OMG I loved that episode so hard core, especially Keith David.

Cut him some slack, he was educated in OK.

Tell me what I want to hear, Joel McHale!

Joel McHale Says "Community" Season Four Even Funnier

Huh, that's the NBC station I grew up watching. Cool. Cool cool cool.

Sweet. Malcolm-Jamal Warner commentary on the wedding episode.

But did they do a commercial about the documentary about the commercial?

Wow. Digital Estate Planning commentary. Apparently there was supposed to be a different tag...

Spoiler:

Abed was going to use the code he took on USB to write a new modified version of the game. It was Pierce and his dad playing catch and every time Pierce caught the ball his dad would say "Good job, son" and then Pierce is just supposed to hug Abed after he sees it.

Would have been a cool closing tag. Dan mentions something about Chevy walking off though, and they ended up doing the weird tag with the baby instead.

Also funny, on that episode commentary they were thanking Sony and NBC and excited about the 4th season pickup. It's all a little weird to hear now that we know what went down soon after. :(

Several years ago they stopped releasing a lot of TV shows on Blu-ray. Supposedly sales didn't justify the money to produce both, but that was earlier in the adoption period of Blu-ray. It's not like they don't already have HD versions of the shows, either.

Well I finished all the commentary. There are at least 6 episodes where the actors make a joke about Chevy. From him not getting jokes to him not being in shots because he went home early to the L&O ep they shot in only 4 days because he was only in the one scene.

Kinda funny but also sad considering the execs basically chose Chevy over Dan for next season. I hope the writers left can just find a decent way to end things and graduate everyone in 13 episodes.

I've seen the first 5-6 episodes of season one now.

Each episode gets better and Abed is easily the best character right from the start.

Cool cool cool.

Keep watching.

Outtakes from Season 3 are on youtube...don't know for how long. Here's part 1, click through for the other parts:
