That was one of my favorite episodes. It saddens me that I JUST found this thread, I've been all-in with Community since Day 1. Dan Harmon leaving is Community's "jumping the shark" moment. Chevy Chase should be kissing Dan's a$$ for making him relivant again. I heard a rumor that Chevy walked out on the last day of shooting, and consequently, Dan Harmon got the entire cast and crew to start a "F*** You Chevy" chant at some end of the season party shortly thereafter.

Dan Harmon: +100

Yes, with Chevy's wife and daughter standing next to him. Not exactly classy on either side. Yes Dan Harmon created the show. Yes Chevy helped make the show what it is. They way I see it, f*ck them both for ruining my favorite show in a long time.

Yeah, I'm feeling the same. It's sad to see such a gem fall apart over ego.

I really loved the three episodes wrapping up season 3. Pity those involved in the disagreement didn't listen to Jeff's speech.

I'm apparently not as discouraged by Harmon's departure as most. After season 2 was over, I remember reading an Onion AVClub feature where Harmon talked about every episode of the season. There were several times where he said something like "For this episode I wanted to" -insert bizarre, dark story arc here- "but, because the network didn't like the idea we did" -insert brilliant favorite episode- "instead."

One of the ideas he mentioned was to have Chang be completely insane and trying to get back at the study group, while introducing the backstory that he ate his twin in utero. Of course, he ran with this in season 3 and this turned out to be one of the worst things about the season (IMO).

I'm not going to get into any of the backstage antics of who's a bigger jerk. I'm just saying, I'm going to stay optimistic about the upcoming season and hope that most of the things I had trouble with in season 3 won't return.

I honestly feel bad for Chevy, it's become pretty clear that the writers and creators just don't know what to do with the character anymore. They like Troy/Abed, Jeff/Annie, and the Dean/Chang started becoming more important characters than Pierce and Shirley who were often just tossed to the side. I get that you want to have fun with your favorite characters, but it's kind of rough. I didn't enjoy the direction they took Pierce in, and certainly wouldn't enjoy playing him. Maybe they should have just written him off the show rather than get into this protracted fight.

I'm not sure we can conclude that. It's possible this is a symptom of a difficult working relationship, rather than the cause of it.

I feel no sympathy for Chevy after listening to his voice mail rant and him calling Community a "mediocre sitcom". Stumbling around on screen while pretending to be President Ford might have once been funny, but it is no longer. Nor is Chevy.

I've never liked him much at all anyway. His involvement was the biggest hurdle for me when it came to starting in on Community. It took most of the first season of a co-worker talking about it before I gave the first couple episodes a shot, and even then I found Chevy Chase really annoying.

He's been the weakest point of the show from the start, at least for me. I wouldn't have been sad to see them just write him out of the show and introduce a new character.

I agree - I just feel that that was more of a fault of the character that the writers created than a problem with Chevy Chase himself, and it kind of spiraled out of control. Chevy Chase himself only has so much control over Pierce, and it's Pierce that's the most annoying part of Community.

Wow. Lot of Pierce hate. I thought he was fine. Maybe didn't get used a lot toward the end except for the occasional "ha ha old person doesn't know how to play video games" type of gag, but it's hard to give everyone equal screen time in a big ensemble cast like that.

You guys just don't appreciate everything that Chevy's generation and old, white people generally have done for us.

I found this to be very well done.

This has to be old but it was very funny to me

Move along!

Some more news trickling in down the wire. Ganz has writing credit for some of my favorite episodes in the past two years so it's good to see her remaining on the team.

We all asked for it, and now it's finally here.

Journey To The Center Of Hawkthorne! It's not much at the moment but the Reddit thread seems pretty active. Hopefully the developer will release the source code so others can tinker with it.

My goodness. That's rad.

Edit: The extra characters are awesome.

HOLY CRAP! MUST TRY.

That guy stole my avatar!

You should change your avatar to the batman one.

I know... I'll turn my 8-bit Jeff into an 8-bit John Preston.

This showed up in another thread, seemed appropriate here:

God bless NPR-nerd actresses. They are certainly NOT the worst.

Damn, she can be so dang hot.

Does anyone else want to see a version of the Claymation Christmas Special where everything was the live-action version of events?

I think that would be hilarious and amazingly, awesomely dark.

That kinda sorta happened, in "Curriculum Unavailable."

Yeah, but there the viewer knew exactly what was happening, we knew the school existed, that the 'counselor' was lying, and why he was lying. Before it got to that point a lot of the crazy Abed stuff was more quirky and fun, nothing approaching the complete and total (and lengthy) breakdown of the Christmas special.
