I can't count the reasons I should stay, One by one they all just fade away. Community S6! #andamovie

With Abed, every moment of every episode is open for pop culture references. He's almost 4th wall breaking in a lot of episodes. Part of the charm of the show is how it takes some other sitcom mainstays and tweaks them.

I'd still only consider Modern Warfare and Epidemiology as "event episodes." I don't think Intro to Statistics or Basic Rocket Science count as events. Maybe a little out there with the KFC stuff, but still an episode about competition between local schools.

EDIT: Also did anyone else catch Allison Brie on Ferguson last night? Good stuff. I think they showed a clip from next week, Aerodynamics of Gender. At least I didn't recognize the scene, of the 3 girls talking about taking a women's studies class.

Yes, Alison Brie goes from plain to sexy quite nicely. NSFW

Yow

The really weird thing for me was seeing how much LIFE and energy she had and could bring to a role-- only having seen her as the robotic shrew Trudy Campbell on Mad Men, I could barely believe this was the same actor.

it's sort of ironic that her character on Mad Men is much more cartoonish and simplistic than her Community character.

Holy sh*t, Jeff made a terrible, terrible mistake. So did Troy. Lets hope Abed takes the opening!

*The discussion about what is considered nerdy

Jeff: Shut up nerds!

That episode was hilarious, but the end got me to lol: "Why'd he call me?"

The cat part was also awesome.

I love the tags (post-episode segments). So great. Probably only like 2 ever that didn't just totally crack me up.

"Why do you do these things?"
"Because its fun."
"Oh Christmas Troy, Oh Christmas Troy!"

"We're krunking..."
"No you're not."

"You really couldn't get Britta for this?"
"No, she was unavailable."
"Ok. >sigh< Let's film the sex scene."

The only thing beyond the reach of my fists... is humanity.

Did I get the song stuck in your head?

This thread is wrinkling my brain.

Random question -- does NBC consider hulu watchings in their ratings? I can't watch the show when it airs (plus, I don't have a nielsen box, so it doesn't matter anyway), but I want this show to succeed so hard.

I hope they do, Seth. I hope that buying the season 1 DVDs from Amazon helped as well.

According to the podcast I listen to, Firewall & Iceberg, Hulu views don't because no one knows how to measure them (which, non-tech that I am, shocks me), but DVD sales for sure do, and strong DVD sales can bridge the gap between ratings and renewal.

Well as a software developer (although I've done very little web stuff) the only reason I can think of that they can't do that is if the Hulu guys weren't cooperating with them. Their accountants at the very least will have those numbers, because that's how their advertisers pay them.

What sort of gift might you want from NBC on this, Community Day? How about 2 more episodes this season? How does that sound?

First Chuck, now Community. Maybe NBC isn't as stupid as we think.

I'm not willing to go that far. I'm sure they'll find a way to put both on after Leno or something.

Troy and Abed in the morning!

Did anyone else pause the show during the Abed "machine" POV scenes? There was some really funny stuff on his screen. The top right had a running synopsis of the episode that changed as the episode went along and at the bottom right was a "To Do" list. There was stuff like "Remember to record Cougar Town" (extra funny since it's on a different network) and "Book Starburns for T&A in the AM" which made no sense until the end. I read T&A in the.. uh.. usual sense. Though the best was something along the lines of "Try to sell study group on Paintball II" which would be friggin awesome.

Okay, and now my pop culture failure. The whole time I felt like I should recognize the whole secret calm place being ruined by a jealous outsider, but I just couldn't put my finger on it. Were they actually doing their own thing or was it another movie reference?

Also, I've kind of always been a fan of Chang, but this one he was just really annoying with his "Oh snap!"'s. It was funny at first, but they just kept cutting to him over and over. I've never seen Mean Girls so I don't know if they were making fun of someone from the movie or if it was just Chang being Chang. The only real laugh he got out of me was when Jeff got up from the study group and closed the door on him and his reaction through the glass.

I disagree, I think is strange love of snapage is great, and an established part of the character at least as far back as the family day one ("Yo, Phantom Menace, how's the trade embargo with the Naboo. Cha-CHANG!"). I'm a big fan of that whole running outdated gag throughout the show. I never thought the could top "Jeff Winger, Attorney at Aw Snap!", and yet last week brought us "The Oscar for Best Adapted Burn goes to Jeff Winger for 'Aw Snap: The Man Who Went There'!"

I don't think the trampoline was anything specific, but it reminded me of the Secret Garden. Freezing Abed's POV is the first thing I'm doing once the ep is up on Hulu.

And I won't lie, I was hoping we'd get a boob-bump at the end.

The part that really sold Chang's whole gimmick for the episode was when he went to flip over the table, and then it took him a second to actually do it. I enjoyed his running gag the whole time, but that had me in stitches.

"Jeff, you've been up there for an hour."
