Minnesota Board Game Night at Johnvanjim's - Friday, September 4th, 6:30 PM until late)

Great! I've also got 4 premade Corp and 3 premade runner decks if people are interested in Netrunner. I'd love to get some Flashpoint in though! (Own it, but it hasn't hit the table yet.)

I've got some LoTR Card game decks and quests pre-setup as well, and have sussed out the Game of Thrones card game mechanics, so those also are good to go.

Plenty of stuff to do!

I'll bring my dungeon command with in case anyone happened to get another set this week, my second set won't be in till next week.

Hopefully the roads aren't too bad tonight. People were driving like idiots on my way into the office, and taking the offramp from 494 to 7 had me white knuckling it since it hadn't been plowed yet and I fishtailed a bit.

Yeah, looks like the snow has stopped, hopefully the roads are plowed well and open for business by evening.

I'm going to have to bow out for tonight; have picked up a nasty cold, and I think it would be polite to not blow snot all over your lovely basement.

I'm also fighting off something, thought I'd feel better by tonight, but probably best to lie low.

Sorry you guys ended up being sick. We had around 5 people playing games for the majority of the night, with some cycling of players. We ended up mostly playing Netrunner (I premade 4 corp decks and 3 runner decks) and Lords of Waterdeep.

Oddly enough, the Netrunner games were some of the longest I've ever seen played (upwards of 2+ hours) so hopefully no-one got burnt out on them because of that.

Wish I could have stayed to learn how to play!

I should be getting my second faction for Dungeon Command today. I'll try and convince my wife to play between now and the 29th so I can at least get a basic understanding of the rules.

I still hope to make it down to the cities for one of these nights eventually. The new baby has beeno keeping the wife and I busy, but maybe I can get a husband break night in a month or so to get some gaming in.

Provided I don't have to fly to Alabama and drive to bfe for my job, I should be there with two sets of Dungeon Command! I have the Undead set and the Drow set. If anyone else gets a set by then, bring it along to play!

Great! Looking forward to seeing how that plays!

Oh, and the third expansion for cards against humanity is out. Still haven't played the game, but would like to one of these times.

CAH is a regular to appear on the table later in the evenings. Side note and reminder, game night is this upcoming Friday, starting at 6:30. If you're planning on attending, just shoot me a heads-up so I can plan for space!

I'll send out one last final reminder Friday morning, just to be sure people are in the know..

And, just a reminder that this is going on tonight at 6:30 and onward. So if you don't have any plans and want to come in out of the rain and play fun boardgames with excellent people whilst imbibing some tasty homebrew and fresh baked pizza (why not??), pop on over. Shoot me a PM if you need directions.

Dan, I still have those card boxes pulled for ya. If you can't make it tonight and still want to pick them up, we can probably coordinate some sort of hand-off at some other interim time. Heck, if you have extra time and want to squeeze in a game or two of Netrunner, I'm always down with it, as long as the kids are in bed!

If you've never come, the events are newbie friendly and fun in their own right. So swing on by to learn the joys of modern day board/card games!

I'm off in DC at the moment,so missing again. We do need to get together for the box exchange and/or Net runner, as I need to get my butt kicked more in that game.

Games I want to play/try:
-Dungeon Command(I have two faction now, so two people can play! or more if more people get factions, I have undead and drow)
-Netrunner - since last time I had to ditch out for emergency work call
-Cards against Humanity

I'm sure we can get all those in, although you'll have to be the one to teach Dungeon Command, as I haven't seen or played it yet. I do have Netrunner decks premade, as well as a table setup for Flashpoint Fire Rescue and possibly Catacombs and Sentinels of the Multiverse.

CAH Pretty much makes an appearance later in the evening and is pretty much one of the best ways to round out an evening.

I should be able to stop by tonight.

I wish I still lived in Minneapolis...

Well, I have read through most of the instructions, so should be ok, though the first play through might be a bit rough, having to refer to the instructions multiple times for rule clarification If I have time before coming over tonight, will try to reread them quickly. It reads alot like MtG, where you have to have so many Leadership(mana) points to summon monsters, and when a monster moves/attacks/etc, you tap their corresponding card to their figure till the next turn.

Twas a good time on Friday, thanks for popping over Indy and Rainsmercy! We had a nice compact group of 6 players this time, which made it easy to round off and get a few smaller and some larger games in.

I didn't get to play Dungeon Command, but next time it hits the table, I'd love to at least watch it played and see the mechanics in action.

Flashpoint Fire Rescue was fun, but unfortunately, the fire blazed out of control and it ended in a building collapse for the gang.

We got a couple of games of Sentinels of the Multiverse under our belts. In the first round, Haka, Bunker, Absolute Zero and Ra took down Baron Blade moments before his lunar impulsion device pulled the moon into the earth. The second battle found the heroes Legacy, Bunker, Expatriette and Absolute Zero facing off against the powerful Omnitron, needless to say, the earth was saved again with all heroes surviving! (Advanced game rules next time we play gents!)

The end of the evening saw a few games of Netrunner being played with some quality plays hitting the table, supplanting the typical End-of-Evening game of Cards against humanity.

Thanks to everyone that showed up and had some fun! (Mental Note: Rainsmercy, you've got my Justice League DVD, just bring it over to the next game night!)

Actually, I left it at your house, I put it back in its case (please double check though)

I'll bring over Dungeon Command on the 26th and maybe we can get a game in. Games I still want to play: CAH, and now Sentinels of the Multiverse...(you evil GWJer for introducing me to all of these boards games I never knew existed! )

I'm going to make a real effort to show up this month, and not just because I need an excuse to buy this...

Ooh, that's the 40k flavored talisman right? Looks fun!

If you left the DVD, no worries Rainsmercy. I just figured I'd put it in the thread if only to remind myself. You're still free to check it out.

UMOarsman, you're always welcome. We get wildly varying numbers of attendees, but as far as I know, it's never been boring!

Aaand we just got tickets to the wild that night. Gah! Well, there's always July.

There's also May and June before then

Indeed, but I've got clients in VA I'll be at for those months.

No worries. As far as I'm aware, I'll be running this open game night for as long as people keep showing up!

I can make it this month; I'll bring along King of Tokyo + expansion, maybe Marvel Legendary. Will probably be a bit late, as I need to watch part of the NFL Draft 2nd round. And yes, I'm serious, I'm one of those people. I'll probably DVR the stuff I miss and watch it when I get home. And yes, I'm still serious.

Sounds fun, haven't tried either of those, you'll have to be the teacher! Also, I have those card boxes for ya if you're still interested!
