Rick and Morty - Look At Me!!

EDIT Ok I narrowed down what gives me the weird feeling: the unspoken insistence that in order to create an opportunity in voice acting to hire an Asian voice actor, you have to create an Asian character for them to voice.

I think the consensus will settle on it being okay for anyone to voice white characters, and women to voice men. Beyond that it may get into a tricky cases of Oppression Olympics, but there's no reason to fear things like Asian voice actors only being able to voice Asian characters.

Also, maybe it's because I'm getting old, but I don't care anymore about losing valuable things for the greater good because, well, how valuable are they, really? Just rip the band-aid off and get things fixed as quickly as possible.

Here's a cool fan-made intro video (presumably) inspired by the Adult Swim anime promotion clip:

I’m super curious where they’re going to take it, considering that Harmon and several of the other writers got pretty publicly angry and disgusted at the chud demographic of the fan base during last season.

Kinda relevant.

What’s the crud demographic? The only chad I know are canabalistic humanoid underground dwellers and as far as I know they aren’t big Netflix subscribers.

I’m very excited for season 4.

It did originate with the movie, but over the last few years “chud” has become a general purpose label for people who exhibit regressive behavior. The video Grenn posted is only slightly exaggerated.
Not saying all the fans are like that, I’m a fan myself, but it is an EXTREMELY vocal minority that the show creators have publicly criticized many times. Harmon himself still complains about it periodically on his weekly podcast. Given that they now have multiple seasons of contractual safety with Adult Swim I wouldn’t be surprised if they address it in the show itself.

Ah Thanks. I’ll look out for it in seasons to come.

I bought the RaM comic book. It’s written by Patrick Rothfus. It was very mediocre.

Was that the Dungeons & Dragons crossover? I really liked that one. The other R&M comics are hit-or-miss for me, though.

Shamelessly stolen from comments: "It only comes out in November for people who really get it!"

I thought volumes 1 and 2 of the R&M graphic novels (written by Zac Gorman) were very good. The first story of volume 2 was particularly great.

Entertainment Weekly has a pre-season 4 interview with Harmon and Roiland up on their website for those who are interested.

Editted to add new season 4 clip that premiered at Comic Con:

Whoo!

oooooweee

Boss and I are 8/10 episodes through Season 4 on Hulu and it's great.
All the meta-meta-commentary is mind warping and hurts my brain and I love it.

I was just thinking about this show and wondering when Season 5 might be arriving. The wait between seasons has always been painful, but this one seems worse than the others for some reason.

Edit: I guess the last episode aired in March of 2020. Which really wasn't THAT long ago. But seeing that we have received 4 seasons in 7 years does show how slow their production is. That said, it is such a great show, I have a hard time complaining about them taking their time to get it right.

Hopefully the wait for future seasons will be even lower, because they've already started work on season 7. That is not a typo. They're working three seasons ahead.

It’s that time again.

Damn I forgot how great that song is. I am stoked.

Nice. Hope they arrive on Netflix in a timely manner.Although I am feeling like a rewatch of all previous seasons at the moment.

Right now HBO MAX has the steaming rights. It looks like maybe Fubo streams it too, but I’m not sure if Fubo is legit.

HBO Max has it in the US. Non-US Netflix tends to get a lot of content that US Netflix doesn't.

I should really watch the entire series on my lunch breaks.

There is a whole series that's all about your lunch breaks?!

Man, remember the days when it seemed like Rick and Morty fans were the worst things on the internet?

Ha! Which ones, the oblivious victims of Poe’s law or the ‘nihilism is for smart people’ Dawkins-lite crowd?

Adult Swim is “rebranding” as Adult Swim Junior for April 1st, and they kicked it off by airing an episode of Rick & Morty Babies, which is just the Total Rickall episode (coincidently my favorite episode) but with all the voices dubbed over by children. Even the music sequences were remade with kids. They also made a new title sequence:

It has begun:
