So I just got through this on Netflix and I dunno... By Interdimensional Cable II I was kinda done. It's wildly inventive but the pervasive nihilism of the series left me feeling pretty flat about it all. I get it, and maybe 15 years ago I would have ended up liking it a lot more, but it was just tiresome for me in the end. I got through the whole lot in case I was missing something since a lot of people are really positive on it but I still don't see it. Can anyone point to any redeeming qualities I missed or have I just moved too far past this sort of thing to go back?
Well, as someone who was forced into the whole christian thing and religion growing up and was only able to realize and escape that in my 20's, I really enjoy the nihilism aspects. If you were able to grow up without that, I can imagine the nihilism being a bit excessive. That's just me on that aspect.
If you don't like "Something Ricked This Way Comes", then drop it. That episode is pure genius, and if that doesn't click with you, then the style of humor is not going to be for you. The second season is actually better than the first overall, but nothing is as good as that episode.

You're right in that the same general themes are repeated a lot. I guess I continue to enjoy it because of the cleverness and creativity in how those themes are explored. It may be kind of depressing, but at least it's smart. And I'll take smart but sad over dumb and happy anytime.
I guess I'm also just happy to see that there are other people out there that see the world I do. *don't let the existential dread set in.*

Surprise season 3 premier!!!! They've been spinning it all night. They're on repeat 4 or 5 now.

Holy sh*t. That was amazing.
My favorite is still Total Rickall, but this one definitely scores among the top episodes. There's just so much going on I ended up watching it back to back 3 times. 97 more years!
I was really happy they're streaming it online. I'll probably buy the episodes on Amazon in order to keep watching the season.
