Bloodborne Catch-all

Why must the people that get to play these games always suck so much at them?

Not that I would buy a PS4 solely for this, but it might cause me to buy one and then only play this game on it...

If they make this into a twitch game of fast reaction times I would be so sad.

Judging by the itty-bitty slice of gameplay from that latest video, I don't think that's quite the case. But if it does turn out to be a twitch game, I'm passing it by like a sketchy burrito stand. I'm getting too old for that sh*t.

I'm hoping the guy playing the game has never played a Souls game, so he didn't know how to lock on.

That's what I did with the PS3.

Vaatividya has a summary that probably says nothing that hasn't already been discussed here, but, it's another source (plus I need to tag this thread):

I've been meaning to go see his take on things, thanks!

Unreleased trailer that shows more gameplay than the E3 one:

I think that's the first time I've seen the "This is for the players" tag line by Sony. I like it.

I'm not sure if the more proactive, faster game play is going to be for me. I like games where you can take your time and be considered. On the other hand, before I played Dark Souls, I thought just about all the features in the game sounded horrible but in practice they worked brilliantly.

From what people are describing, it seems to me that the style of combat in Bloodborne is similar to PvP combat in DkS2. In that you don't use your shield hardly ever in high level PvP --- usually.

Here is a translation of a recent interview with Hidetaka Miyazaki about Bloodborne.

Me too.

The only question left is how much will I pay for the inevitable collectors edition.

Goodness. That gave me all sorts of shivers.

God damn. Time to go on blackout mode to avoid frustration of waiting for this to come out.

Sounds like they're hinting at different day and night states of the game a little bit... I wonder if we will see different gameplay at different times of the day. Or if, perhaps, we'll see something like the lighting system demonstrated for Dark Souls II originally.

Well. I guess that seals it.

Possibly, but remember that these are completely different developers than those from DSII, so it won't be something that was just carried along from that game if so.

That weapon transformation in front of the 2 werewolves looked incredible

Sad, but if they don't don't value XBOX1 and PC players as their customers, well, i'm just not that excited about their product then i guess.

Exclusivity only works when the product is good enough to actually make someone buy that console just for your product (Forza Franchise for example where i'm concerned).

I bought DKS2 on xbox and on PC, full price opening day or pre-order on both. And i don't regret it a bit. I'll probably buy all the expansions for PC as well.

But you know, there's no way i'm gonna get a PS4 to play this game and the one other exlusive i have any interest in.

If you're gonna make something exclusive, you should bother making it so world shattering it can sell a console by itself.

Damn thread peaked my interset for like 1 minute till i realized it was exclusive to PS4, now i'm just totally uninterested.

Maybe they know what their doing, but they're all idiots in my book (MS and Sony and their exclusives battles over non world shattering games).

That's a tad simplistic. It's probably more accurate to say that Sony asked them to make this game for the PS4. They have an existing relationship.

I bought a PS3 just to play Demon's Souls. I may buy a PS4 just to play this - I need to go watch this trailer, which I have not yet done. For some of us Souls fans, a FROM game is as world shattering as it gets.

So does this game have the same asynchronous multiplayer as the Souls games? Put another way: can I pause this one?

You do realize that Sony is actually paying to have this game made and is co-developing it, right?

They could have said No. Seems fair to say they value their relationship with Sony (or simply Sonys money) more than getting out to more customers. Which is a shame really. I bet even their future games that might again be released on more platforms will hurt from exclusivity of this. Reduces the brand recognition.

But yeah, nothing in the world could keep me away from a From game. I'll have no issue buying a PS4 for this, despite not having any other games I want to play on it (which I'm sure will change in the future though).

You can't reach customers without money.

Really? I hadn't read that.

And if they said no, there would be no Bloodbourne.

I don't get the problem at all.

I think Sony lends resources to all of their exclusive games, but I could be wrong. I know it's not uncommon.

They somehow managed to make Dark Souls 1 and 2.

If it is true that Sony is co-developing Bloodborne it does make it a bit different, somewhat first-party. Still, From is capable of developing games on their own.
