Minecraft Multiplayer: GWJ World

Whelp, in commemoration of the end of the world, I'm going to be running around setting things on fire. Toodles!

HA!!! All Stone construction FTW!

Also, Sig worthy.

Maybe we can start with a seed that generates a good river. I an not against that, although it means grid layouts are more difficult.

After my experiments on my mob grinder moat though... I think I will try to find a hill to build on in the new world a little away from spawn so I can kill mobs.

I don't like grid layouts at spawn, because they're either too small for people's grand plans or we end up with massive constructions over everything nearby. I'm biased, though, because even as an individual I'd always rather build a town with reasonably-sized buildings rather than a massive monstrosity.

One thing we've done in the past is to lay out smallish housing plots for everyone to use, and then larger projects are done further afield, linked through the nether or through a railway. The grid becomes less important in that type of design.

I have a wooden manor house under construction by the river not too far from spawn, and in the middle of an oak forest. That should burn up good.

Maybe I should chicken bomb the server.... lol... Lets all make chicken generators!!! WooHOOOOOOO...

Just to add my 2c, I am not a fan of plots

I'll likely only be playing during my lunch break though, so don't mind at all whatever is decided

In my 8-9 years here, this may be my first time getting sigged...

Hey, just be happy they fixed fire so that entire forests don't go up and burn for days anymore.

Or, in this case, be sad.

I was about to say. I remember the days when forest fires would burn out of control and you needed several people to coordinate and cut down breaks in the forest to stop them. If it wasn't for the crazy lag, it was kind of neat!

Oh I was also wondering if someone was going to setup a map overview like we used to have back in the day? It was neat popping out of game and checking what the world looked like in your browser.

My wife and I updated our world at home to the 1.9 pre-release, and we quickly learned how different combat is.

So I searched around for a good quick video that explains it, because first night survival is going to be substantially more difficult if you're not clear on how the new combat mechanics work.

This quick and simple 3 minute video more or less summarizes what you need to know.

I can't attest to any fire issues, but if you want an area flooded, just let Motoxan know. We were working on two waterfalls at our new mountain retreat. I got up from my pc to talk to my wife for a few minutes, I come back into my office and Moto is freaking out, but laughing. He flooded our entire complex with water. It took us over 400 dirt to fix the issue. I have never seen water (in river form) fall from the sky, but he managed that...somehow.

I'm definitely looking into this. I'll work on getting something up and running once we switch over to v1.9, just may take me a few days.

1.9 list of changes

For those not interested in videos... here is a bunch of text and images. It's a good summary.

We have to set up a monument to the moving mouth dragon skull when we get to that point.

Ok... there may be a hole filled with chickens buried near Xeknos' place.... lol I felt to guilty to kill the server or fill a soon to be burned down house with them...

LOOKS LIKE IT'S TIME FOR BBQ CHICKEN.

LOL

Wow, how's that for timing. I had no idea you were doing that when I sent that message
I set up a chicken BBQ pit in front of manta's place as well.
Didn't see your fire generating cooked chicken, tho.

Sadly. I feel like if a chicken dies to fire it ought to drop a cooked chicken item.

Usually there is no room for combat in my safe, quiet night hole...

Yeah Night one is typically a dirt hovel with no room for mobs to spawn... then pray for no creepers when I dig out.

Ditto, except that I usually plan to be miles underground by night one.

Also, delays, now out Feb 29

I new this was going to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if it got delayed again. I wish they would just wait and tell us like a day before they were actually ready to pull the trigger instead of trying to guess when they will be ready.

Well, on the plus side, I can just continue with my zen-like lunchtime stress-relieving branch mining.

Maybe the funniest moment in all of minecraft.

Can I get whitelisted? Name is cheesycrouton. Thanks.

So I just logged in for the first time and completely fell into Manta's 'duck coop'. I had to tear down a wall to escape but I think I fixed it right and left all the eggs in there too.

Sorry about that, Chief.
