Minecraft Multiplayer: GWJ World

Yes I do vouch for them as we all understand server rules, if there are any others that wished to be known let me know. We're more or less looking for a mature community/server for our let's plays and other build projects as we do record quite often.

I've always thought of gamers with jobs as a place to get away from the kind of distrust and hostility you normally find on the internet, and if I have to risk the things I've built on the sever to keep it that way, then that's fine with me.

But if things do go bad, (which I don't think it will but we should still be prepared for it) I'm also OK with not letting family and friends on until the person asking to have them be put on the whitelist has ether donated to the site in some capacity, be it donating to the server the site or something like what trichy set up for his nephew.

That seems reasonable.

Well, this is why we're here, after all.

I like this outlook.

I have no knowledge of the second part, so I can exclude that from my endorsesment.

I felt so smug when I tricked an enderman into going through a nether gate. On the other side, he seemed so lost and confused. But I must've looked at him directly, because he came charging after me. I laughed as I ran, until KAPOW he somehow hurled me quite a distance into super deep lava. That motherf*cker. When I came back, he was gone.

Honestly, I think the best way to handle people who are at that much of a remove is to encourage them to post on the forums. If you're looking for a mature community anyway, it should be something you're interested anyway. And we'd certainly like to get to know you off the server as well as on it.

Oh, he's not gone. ;).

Lost my Prot 4 diamond chestplate, Sharpness 3 Knockback 2 diamond sword, Eff 4 Unbreakable 3 diamond pick, and Unbreakable 2 diamond axe! Made me very mad!

Sometimes I get sick of villagers with useless trades. But if I kill them, I piss off the iron golems, and other villagers maybe.

So I built this:

Button-activated trapdoor that drops them into a pit of fire. I just need to nudge them in place.

J'accuse!

Seems we (and I say "we" without having played in some time) should at least just imprison villagers. How many times have we run into a situation where we needed 'em but they're either all gone or an inconvenient distance away?

My village, the one at the SE edge of the map, has like 40 villagers inside a walled town. I'm not worried about them going away.

Luckily we have many villager sources available on our current world. Also you can now force them into the nether, which can make transport much easier in combination with some rails.

Einschwitz has enough of the "undesirables" imprisoned that they have spawned 3 or 4 golems. Plus if I so choose I can create a cascade event near plav and my castle again and spawn several hundred in short order.... though the downside to that is CRIPPLING lag for whoever is close enough to load the chunk. As QS and Lou have stated, maintaining villagers is more or less a non issue on the server currently.

FYI, Crowfeather and I are both getting 503 error messages trying to join multiplayer servers this morning. It looks like minecraft.net is overloaded as the 503 is coming from session.minecraft.net. Just posting in case anyone else is having problems logging in anywhere/everywhere and is wondering if they're the only ones. You're not.

Although we may be the only ones....hmm.

And since we can't actually play Minecraft, Crow is working on a town plan for another MC server. She's making a 100x100 grid for the town - actually building out the grid on my server at work.

I was trying to find a graphing program - online or installable - to use as a planner. Minecraft Structure Planner and Minedraft both lack a way to number the rows and columns on the graph, and when you're planning something 100x100, it'd be helpful to know the coordinates of the point you're looking at.

Any recommendations?

Hi, me again. Mojang broke something regarding 1.4.4 multiplayer sessions. If you're getting 502 or 503 errors trying to connect to multiplayer servers, see this post from Jens and download the 1.4.5 pre-release client. It'll be patched out to everyone on Tuesday, but it seems you can use the 1.4.5 client today to connect to 1.4.4 servers.

I just verified I can connect to the 1.4.4 server I run at work with the 1.4.5 client. YMMV, but I thought I'd put it out here in case people need a fix

Still having trouble. Will 1.4.5 still work with John Smith?

Went back to Cordelia to look around, and saw the dragon's egg that was donated by DemonicMaster. I thought, "Oh cool!" and then stoopidly clicked the mouse on it.

POOF! The egg disappeared in a spray of purple particles. I forgot that clicking it makes it teleport to a random location somewhere nearby. After much panicked searching it was located in the caverns near there. It's now back on its pedestal. I promise never to click it again!

Never noticed before that rain drips through the pine needle blocks.

I suspect it's against the spirit of our little survival world, but I'm going to ask anyway.

I have a project under construction that would really benefit from the addition of several creeper heads. I know that creeper heads are not available in survival mode at present, and are only available in creative.

1) Is it even possible for a server admin to create a stack of things that are only available in creative mode for those of us who would like to use them?

2) If so, is it kosher to make that happen? I'm torn, because I really like the sense that "I worked hard to make this happen," that you get from a survival world and I don't want to cheapen it. But creeper heads would be really, really cool to have.

Don't know if this got lost in all the talk about redstone circuits and permissions above, or if no one has any input, but bumping it in case.

I dreamed that I found a witch's hut in Minecraft. I had a long, drawn-out fight with a witch and then finally defeated her. The hut was filled with the heads of many Minecraft creatures and people, which I took for myself.

Well, here's a solution. The only downside is that it requires you to visit Quintin_Stone's dreams.
