7 Days To Die , Catch All

If you haven't yet, eat chili.

The space before the comma in this thread title is going to drive me absolutely nuts.

I'm just pretending it's a dash that melted.

A true defensive set up has begun at the GWJ clubhouse. I know we've survived at least one assault while I was there. Had to run out and distract them enough to stop tearing the place apart. Then I began to weed them out, one by one. I had to make do repairing the damage with stone, it might actually work better, but not look as nice.

The GWJ homestead is coming along nicely. I went a little north last night and found a house by a lake. I dug a trench from the lake so water would flow under the house. Trying to create a moat now. The main house is a bit far away so connecting them via a tunnel does not seem practical, but I am going to try tonight.

So I'll probably be grabbing this today (so much for willpower, heh). I see they have a 2-pack, anyone else planning on picking it up? Also, how do I join the GWJ server once I'm on?

Just accepted your friend request in steam. I'll shoot you the server info in a few minutes.

I ran into some frustrating wonkiness last night with ladders. I finally built my insanely long tunnel from my main bunker to a nearby road and I decided I'd try to dig a shaft straight up to the road. Please note, when you decide to mine straight up look out for falling rocks. Yeah. Anyway, I had placed 5 ladder segments so I could continue climbing up and chipping away when the game decided that I could only go up about 3 segments and then it would just drop me off the ladder. I thought maybe the opening wasn't big enough and I was just hitting the edges and getting knocked back down so I widened the area. Nope. No change. Go up 3 and then fall back down. I broke the ladder down and put it back up again making sure all the blocks were in line and the ladder on the same side of the box, no luck. Same problem. I can easily work around it by just putting in landings of even just make a ramp instead of a straight shaft but I was going for a possible fall trap. No idea what's going on though. Guess I'll just have to keep playing around with it.

Oh, and I surrounded by reinforced concrete tower with fully upgraded tree spikes. Those things are nasty. I apparently grazed one when walking past and it took off about half my health.

It would be much appreciated if I could get in on the GWJ server fun as well.

Sent you a steam invite. I'll give you the server details via steam.

Maybe create a private invite-only Steam community and post the details there? Would make it easier especially if you rotate the password on the server.

Will do that tonight. Thanks for the suggestion!

Found a map of Navezgane here: http://7daystodie.gamepedia.com/7_Da...

I play this with a friend peer-to-peer. Never tried Navezgane though, only do random to possibly get some of the new stores ( gun, hardware, etc ). We are pretty well set up now though, but we are still having a ton of fun. When Alpha 11 gets released some time next month, we'll just start a new map, though that will be random as well.

He isn't a GWJ'er, otherwise I'd have him come on the GWJ'er server ( though I should probably get an invite at some point )

Sent you a steam friend request, then I'll add you to the steam group.

I'm sure at some point, we will switch maps on the server. Just screwing around right now.

Thanks, at work but will accept when I'm able. I'll have to try and get my friend to become a GWJ'er - he just doesn't really do forums much.

Guess I should get in on this GWJ action when I'm not running around with my kid.

Oh, and fixed the funky ladder problem I was having in my mineshaft. Apparently the game doesn't like doing long runs of ladder just attached to a flat section of rock, I build a wood frame to attach it to and it works fine now.

My 13 year old son plays also. You should join the server, I think Fogrob could use some help with the mine he and my son dug last night. Something about falling down a hole and broken legs.

Apparently I need more Minecraft experience...turns out digging straight down is not a good thing when you try to go back up.

I got this game in a Steam sale sometime ago but haven't tried it until I was reminded about it by this thread. I played it yesterday and had lots of fun even though I am such a newb and know nothing about it. Survived my first night though!

I should join the GWJ server but only once I become more familiar with the game - I don't want to break stuff for you guys accidentally like I broke the barn I found yesterday.

I did have to put a few braces in one of the larger rooms in my mine to keep the ceiling from coming down and I've also had to do a few stone patches here and there when I hit a pocket of something soft and a chunk just falls off.

I did learn one valuable lesson last night that I probably should've already known. Spider zombies can climb walls, not just jump really high. I thought my tower would be safe with 4 and 5 block high walls but not against spiders. Looks like I'll need to put a cage on the top to keep them out. Against everything else though the setup was great because it would funnel all the zombies into a one square spot where they would bang away on the reinforced metal door while I stood above them firing my shotgun down into them.

I also tried out pipe bombs last night and while okay, I'm not sure how I feel about using them close to my base. Now to try out some mines. At the moment I'm overflowing with gun powder and gun powder charges so might as well start using them.

Just be careful where you step - I've blown myself up too often. In fact, I think it is a tie between my deaths from mines and the zombies.

Is there a way to mark your minefields somehow? Zombies won't notice the markings anyway but my friends will appreciate them.

Could you just take a random object and put it on the 4 corners?

I was thinking about surrounding the minefield with barbwire fencing. I tried out barbwire and barbwire fencing on my first game and it seemed fairly worthless as any kind of deterrent to zombies but at least I'd be able to see it and avoid the area. Barbwire by itself, however, tend to be virtually invisible unless you look at it at the right angle.

I just logged onto Lightning's server and found it reset to a blank slate.

I'd just gotten my new outpost set up after tons of resource grinding. I think I'm going to go find some old Cure MP3s, sit in the corner, and cut myself while sobbing gently.

WHAT!!!! Please tell me this is a sick joke.

I vote random. Let me know when we're back up and I'll start the rebuilding process.

So apparently, when you change any server config items, the server automatically restarts and will wipe any world items not currently in a players belt. This was my fault. Sorry. Everyone can shoot me with an arrow and make me drink murky water.

I guess this is a good time to discuss whether we move to a random map or stay in Navzegane.

I'll have to figure that out and it won't be until after 7 or 8pm tonight.
