Star Citizen Catch-all

I'd build that

Meanwhile, in another galaxy, the actual fans of Star Citizen and Chris Roberts couldn't be more giddy and happy about how things are progressing if they all got a Lego Constellation kit in the mail tomorrow..

Wait.. that's actually a good idea. Need to email Chris Roberts and Lego about this.. We simply MUST have lego models of these ships.

Just build it yourself and submit it to Cuusoo

If it makes you feel any better, it's quite likely that when X-Rebirth comes out its threads will be will with grumpy posts about how it failed to live up to the hype, and how Star Citizen is going to be much better.

....and then when Star Citzen comes out the threads will be the same

The Wheel of Time continues to turn

The man in Black fled across the Desert, and the Gunslinger followed.

Fuzz: we had this same discussion about DayZ, and about The War Z -- and we'll probably have it again. As a community of relatively smart, mature folks, we don't fawn over much; when something we're interested in is being discussed, we're apt to bring up the things that concern or intrigue us. It's not angst, it's experience and engagement.

Yer all just a buncha haters! Ptooey!

Aw man... did someone break into Bioware asset repository and snatch a bunch of Coruscant assets?

Another Teaser Trailer:

What was with those rings of fire in that hangar?

That looks glorious. Also everything in the videos are using in-game rendering.

They set up a stunt course to jump the buggy through hoops of fire.

At the rate the fundraising milestones have been coming, I'm starting to wonder whether there will be anyone left when the game actually releases who is interested but hasn't already bought it.

So I nearly backed this, then ended up getting distracted. I was a HUGE Wing Commander fan back in the day, but somehow missed playing Privateer. Now I'm looking at this and it's hitting every synapse that used to fire back that whenever I imagined myself on the Tiger's Claw.

I very nearly just dropped $275 on the Rear Admiral package to a) support this awesomeness and b) get a Constellation.

That said, there's a part of me that really likes the idea of starting small and working my way up. I honestly don't have a lot of use for most of the stuff in the packages (e.g. models) and I could probably go smaller with something like the 300 series for far less cash. But then I start looking at the Freelancer, which is in no way influenced by Firefly, I'm sure, and I imagine myself as a digital Mal roaming the 'verse.

I suppose I could buy a low-level package and then ask Veloxi or some other early backer to gift a Constellation LTI to me. But does LTI take away some of the risk that makes the game fun?

Did I mention that all of my old WC synapses are firing?

Decisions, decisions.

Yup, that's the itch I'm hoping to scratch.

And that's my plan.

I was talking with a coworker about this, since he's a "big" EVE player. He was put off by the fact that you can "buy ships with real money", until I explained to his that this is a temporary thing and really on there to help fund the game. He's still on the fence though

Why didnt it crash or explode? I dont understand!

With the recent announcements that the next funding goal will expand salvaging and on how they plan to handle people who pledged for multiple ships which also expands into NPC wingmen/co-pilots, I've finally found the implusive reason to drop cash for the 300i fighter variant (325a) package to compliment my Freelancer.

-expanded Salvaging from the description given sounds a lot like that opening scene from the Firefly pilot episode where they space walked and salvaged a wreck under Alliance noses. I'm guessing they will use the FPS mode used in ship boarding and planet side fights and use it in zero-G fights over space wrecks.

-Multiple package consolidation details given shows that they will allow those who pledge for multiple ships (not add-ons) to receive a character slot per package. From there, the ships and funds would be able to be assigned to any combination of character slots, including all ships to just one character slot. On top of that, the remaining character slots will be allowed to be used as gifts to others, as immediate backups for your main character and lastly as customised NPC wingmen that you can "hire" or even as NPC co-pilots on the larger ships (Freelancer and up).

Hi there!
(I currently don't have time to play Hawken and that's F2P, but we'll see what shakes out after I finish Dragon's Crown and Rogue Legacy)

With the way I pilot most things in games (Descent3, MWO, Freelancer, etc.) I have no problem working my way up. My next ship after my Aurora will probably be stolen from somebody foolish enough to try to take me single handed.

Heh. Definitely an appeal to that. Still, there's a voice in my head saying "Screw that! You already worked your way up in real life. Get the Constellation!" After watching some of the hangar walk-through videos, I may end up doing just that. The choice realistically was always between the Freelancer (Firefly!) and the Constellation. The videos show that the Freelancer is just a bit too cramped for my taste. I was hoping for a similar layout, but probably twice as large, which would be more akin to the interior spaces of Firefly. Given the actual sizes of the ships, the Connie strikes me as the idea small ship for trading/smuggling/exploring, with enough bite to keep the jackals away. Plus, the snub fighter that comes with it should provide enough zoom when the mood strikes.

I haven't given them any money yet because I just want to pay for a finished product and play it. It's tempting but I think I will end up waiting for when it is released.
