Where do you even put a stick like that? How do you mount it to anything? It looks so ridic.

Oh and according to sandi Gardner, the keyboard is a Mechanical, but silenced

In the cockpit of your space fighter? Just lift the canopy out of the way and loosen the hex bolts of the primary and auxilliary command ports and it should slide into place. The guide-pins should move smoothly until the rudder pin is fully inserted in the socket. If you don't hear the snick noise of it sliding into place just wiggle the control stick gently so the shaft realigns with the fitting. Then just snap on the data harness and retighten the bolts and your pre-launch diagnostics should go all-green!

See Veloxi? Easy peasy.

I have a pull-out keyboard tray that I put my sticks on. I then put the keyboard behind them on the desk.
I'm hoping to build something like this for each arm for the sticks

I'm actually reading the first Wing Commander novel right now, and this reminding me of a bit of text in there, funny.

A mere child.

Well I have high hopes for the game, but I have to concur with GG they are burning a massive amount of money on overhead and salary each month and the math doesn't work unless they continue to have significant influxes of cash each month. I am in for $250 as well, but I have long been bothered with the sheer amount of project creep that is associated with the game.

Caught up on some reading about the game.

10+ hours of cutscenes in SQ42? Really? Even Kojima would balk at that. Honestly it seems like someone is pretty desperate to break into the movie biz again after his troubles. I want this to be a cool fun game but the more I read the more nuts it seems,

You have Elite which built a game and set a solid foundation and are building upon it. The up coming expansion has multicrew and planetary landings. More and more will be added with each expansion. SC's problem is that they have no foundation and are coming up with more and more features and don't even have a solid basic version of the game up and running. If you read some of the updates they are still working on basic things like how changing loadouts will work. Not in game but actually designing it on paper. Yet they are worried about drink serving mini games. It's just ass backwards game design.

Now add on top of it that people have paid up to 40k for their ships yet all ships are supposed to be attainable. How big of a hissy fit are we going to see when a person who waits for retail and 3 weeks later has a ship that some idiot paid 2.5k for. The only other alternative is for the game to basically pay to win or grind for a stupidly long time. Which surely won't be fun.

I really want a great game but so many flags have been raised that I am really glad I held of buying anything. A few of my regular gaming group requested and were given refunds. Best bet really is to sit back and wait.

What about if the PU launches, and those top-end ships aren't even available IN the game for another year?

Still a youngster of 47. Enjoy that beer, young man.

They are making a bunch of the ships available for flight in the next patch. It's going to be bonkers. I'll see if I can find a list.

From a post I found, nothing official though.

Yes, I believe they are fast-tracking all of the smaller multicrew ships for 2.0. As for entirely new ships that might be added, I suspect a possibility for the AC implementation of the Connie, Lancer, and maybe the Vanguard. In addition, multicrew functionality will be be added to the SH, Gladiator, and Cutlass.

Plus whatever is already live, so not quite a bunch but there are others that are getting a re-work and some that they are working to get out soon after.

The catch is: ships that you attain through gameplay are destructible. Once destroyed, you no loner have them. You can buy insurance on them, but that's an additional expense that, I believe, has an expiry on it. So, if you wish to ensure you keep that ship in your hangar, you have to constantly pay in-game monies. The people that paid during initial stages don't just get access to the ship, but get lifetime insurance on that ship. It means the ship you bought with real $$ will ALWAYS be in your hangar, no matter how much destruction is wrought on it. If anything I see this as a potential griefing issue.

I bought all my ships AFTER the LTI option was pulled, so I've just got "3 months pre-paid" for both my 315i and M50 Racer.

I kind of like the E:D model, where insurance is paid on death, and it's a 3-5% fee to restore your ship (and you're out the price of cargo). I'm still not totally sold on SC's insurance model...

I'm still not totally sold on SC being a thing. Two years ago it would have been the other way around, but for all of its issues E:D is still a solid game that actually exists - SC is not much more than a somewhat buggy demo at this point.

SWEET!

WOOT! Just got an invite to the PTU!
Copying my account over and patching !

I got an invite too. I might play this weekend. Maybe.

Are these invites emails, or do you have to log into the SC launcher or something?

Oh, it's an email, which I got last week and ignored. Carry on!

I guess my launcher was so far out of date that I just uninstalled SC and am redownloading it to hopefully give this a try.

Since I had to uninstall/reinstall, as well as download the PTU build, I was stuck with getting a quick look with the basic gamepad bindings.

Who decided that "A" on the gamepad should default to "eject", especially keeping that binding active in mid-flight?

Outside that, it feels decent. Still has some stuttering "jankyness" that I've felt the FPS portion has had since the launch of Hangars. Like, I feel that you're swimming, more than walking, most of the time. I do like that I can finally go to a terminal, request my ship, and there's a pad I can go to where it's now waiting for me. I'll spend some more time getting my bindings straight, and see if I can actually do anything else in the PU later tonight.
