Picked this up a couple of days ago. Was having a fine time playing Space Truck Simulator hauling cargo and data around. Went looking for uranium, saw it was being traded from a nearby system so I hopped over there and of course lost my privileges to newbie space because apparently if you dock outside of that territory you can't go back. Maybe they said that in the tutorials, but they said a lot of things. So I'm in the default newbie ship with the default newbie equipment and am not even qualified for most of the missions now available.

They really should make it very clear that you're about to leave the nursery. Seven hours in and I think I'm done. On the chance that I do come back to this some day, is there a way to reset my profile and start over?

Yes, on the main menu there is a "reset" option.

Thanks. I rage quit straight to desktop and didn’t even want to look at the launch screen again.

Happy 3306 Commanders! o7

Feralmonkey, what platform are you on? We have people on all platforms that could help you out. If you are on pc, we can find a time and i can help you come to grips with basics and infuse some credits into your accounts so you can have some freedom in terns of outfitting.

Anyone playing this on Xbox between about 8-10pm on UK time? I'm a casual player, but have enjoyed getting back into playing the game after trying on PC years ago.

Content reveal video for fleet carriers

i certainly don't log on as much as a could. DO we have anyone is the GWJ group that is in the tier to afford one of these?

I could buy a tenth of one if I sold all but my least expensive ship.

I could maybe afford three quarters of one if I sold all of my ships and threw in all of my credits (about 2.2 billion IIRC).

I think I made it over 1 billion credits when that stacking mission thing was going. Finally got Anaconda or something after that.

I *might* be able to if I sold everything I own and made a few more exploration runs. But they now say that there is an upkeep charge on them as well. I'm not sure they're worth it to me.

I just logged in (for the first time since 25 Dec apparently) and saw that I have 3,217,331,180 CR total assets (2,201,824,254 CR cash). So, I won't be buying myself a carrier any time soon.

I just dug up my inara.cz login, and I was just around 1 billion in assets when I stopped playing 3 years ago.

I started playing again for a bit and took a trip to Sagittarius A* with lots of scanning and no neutron boosting. Between that and some mining when I returned I got myself an Anaconda and have a billion in the bank. That said, these look to essentially be player owned mobile outposts with large landing pads? I'm not terribly excited by that.

If there's anything that Elite truly needs it's more systems with no apparent reason to engage with them. Also, immersion (read: grind).

I don't understand the point of fleet carriers.

The fact that you can't allow other people to add to the bank that keeps the upkeep going baffles me. This really should have been a squadron thing so there would be a community focus to buying and maintaining one of these beasts.
From what ive heard it's might cost as much as a billion year just to upkeep an upgraded carrier (ie one that can do anything useful) not to mention the several billion it'll probably take to upgrade it from base to a useful level.

Immersion!

They said it costs a minimum of 10 million / week plus crew salaries for whatever you've added. There's no way to add a cartographer. So, there seems to be no way to fund the ship if you go exploring with it.

You can add outfitting and charge a tax for any players that buy from you, but why would they? You also have to stock the carrier yourself (some sort of bulk buy). You have to pay crew to run the shop.

So, it's not a way to make money.

You can carry your ships with you. But I wager paying transfer fees is more cost effective.

I don't see any perks at all for having this thing.

You're not thinking with your epeen.

You can't even truly fly them.

Yeah, it's clearly not for me. I wonder what else is coming in the end of the year update?

Yea i feel like there is going to be lots of confused travolta at the end of the year on the part of the devs about why no one is buying carriers.

This is just a distraction from us still not being able to land on planets with an atmosphere. What a waste.

but what about space legs?

Do we really need yet another mechanic with no point.

You can walk around your fleet carrier.
