excellent! I was annoyed that Ubi's patch blocked the ability to skip the intros.
Now if they would just fix the weird micro-stutter.
Going back through the comments, I don't see any big differences between Xbox One and the PS4 versions. Sounds like they are pretty identical (maybe with a couple of extra lines of resolution on the PS4 version). Did I miss anything critical?
Anecdotally people seem to have no trouble getting the co-op to work on Xbox One. I haven't yet succeeded in getting it to work with friends or randoms on PS4 and I've heard other people have the same trouble.
Higgledy and me did some co-op earlier. It was good fun. The only real disappointment was that the game teleports the players to one another if they move too far apart, but the maximum distance isn't particularly large. Enough to coordinate an attack on an outpost from different angles, but perhaps not big enough to do long-range sniper cover in said assault.
Here are a few images from our rampage/co-op session in Kyrat:
Fight heavy with heavy.
Hurk being Hurk.
We tried out the grappling from a gyrocoptor. High in the mountains, next to a radio tower, we had a landing of two halves. I landed gently on my feet and 1Dgaf died in a spectacular fire ball.
I'm poking around in that elephant after I attached C4 to it and used it to blow up a car. (Just after Higgledy leapt off its back.) Interestingly in the first picture, my heavy soldier was lying next to the elephant instead of under it. Higgledy got the best show.
That last screenshot is like something from a film. Good times.
By the way, two people can use a hanglider. It's just that one has to be on top.
Patch rolled out today. Seems to have helped a LOT with the microstutter. I can barely notice it now.

Ah interesting.
Because I was taking screenshots I lost most of my inaugural grapple flight but I caught the crucial moment on film.

Oh, nice. Didn't even think to try that. The 2nd player grappling hook chopper wrecking ball is pretty fun too.
Edit: I ran into a bear vs tiger showdown last night. I wish I had waited for the whole event to unfold before saying xbox record that since the bear proceeded to almost finish me off too.
What's the best way to farm Rhinos? Last night I was running them down with elephants, but that frequently results in what must be a comical view of a guy riding an elephant chasing after a fleeing rhino. Grenade launcher damages the hides and other weapons just annoy them which means I am running for my life from a pissed off rhino.

Co-op sessions make it rather easy since one person can always be shooting with the other is running. If you don't do that the next best thing is find a rock that you can jump on. The rhino won't be able to get up on it so you make it your retreat zone. It comes down to a bit of "hit and run" with the bow and arrow for the double skins. When you can, always aim for the head for the added damage. It will look like a porcupine by the end.

The patch is a huge improvement for me. There are still some glitches that I assume are related to SLI--screen flickers once in a while, ghosting when AA is enabled--but they are now few and far between, and overall performance is drastically better. And whatever they did to fix the mouse acceleration weirdness is a massive improvement.
Oh awesome. I had this game shelved because of the mouse acceleration weirdness. Fingers crossed that it's fixed.

There's a rhino area just next to one of the machine gun nests near the first town. I've had good success introducing them to my "little friend".
Elephant gun!
I've got a peculiar issue on PS4 where I can play coop with my pal in my game, but each time I try to join his it says my FC4 has to close and then the content isn't available, try the shop.
EDIT
I can join his game if I go from the main screen, select friends and then choose 'join match' from his name. It looks like we have to join each other in different ways.
Kyratan bear jumping with 1Dgaf.
So Assassin's Creed gave me this for free so I'm downloading it all now and ready to jump in when over the weekend!
When you do jump in, make sure you have a wingsuit and/or a hang glider and try not to land on a honey badger.
I just finished the campaign but I'm not close to done with the game yet. I still need to find all the rare animals.
Once you get to the second area the game wraps up way quicker than I thought it would.
Does anyone else get chucked out of the hand glider as soon as they take off? I've just died 4 times in a row, doing my head in.
nope, are you scraping against the ground right after take off?

No. Are you pressing any buttons or pressing the left stick in? (That will activate the wingsuit.)
It was the starting village I'd tried one of the hand gliders, it was beside a bush so maybe it was that. I've since tried others & it's been fine.
On another note the hunters are absolutely deadly, they fire arrows like bullets & see you from miles away. When I first came across them in the mission collecting Intel from the marked areas on the map I got killed a huge number of times to the point of frustration.
I'm enjoying FC4 enough after 3-4 hours but it's nowhere near the impact of Far Cry 3 & the world is less interesting much like AC Black Flag to Unity but there's plenty of the map I've yet to discover.
Why can't they make the climbing exactly like Dishonored? Every ledge or building should be climbable!
Oh yes, that mission.
So far I'm having fun with it. I'm still very early on and just did my very first outpost. Well, I should say that the released Elephant from his cage did the very first outpost for me.
I like the simple things like just sneaking through the landscape, climbing cliffs and stumbling upon a group of those dog things attacking those miniature elephant things. From what I've gathered so far, animals are a lot more vicious here than the ones I encountered in 3.

I like having deadly enemies like that. In the end, especially with the mission you describe, I found it best to not alert them in the first place. The recurve bow is great for stealthily taking them out and is usually a one hit kill.

I'm finding the reverse but it's down to which world appeals to you more. Far Cry 4's world seems to stay more active with 'incidents' happening spontaneously out in the world all the time.
What are most people playing this with? I have it for the PC, but can't make up my mind if I want to use the 360 controller or the mouse/keyboard.
Mouse and keyboard all the way. There is no way I'd use the controller for this. I love the accuracy of my mouse.
Also, I needed to skin some demon fish so I could craft an upgrade to something (Loot bag or something) and I was dreading going into the water. I knew they were in there and I sat on that damn boat looking for those suckers for ages. When none of them came to the surface, I knew I had to go in. It took me a good 5 minutes to work up the courage to jump into the water. Even though I'd saved the game and realised it was just a game, it still took me ages to willingly throw myself into the water so I could skin those things.
Now that I have my 4 and crafted the upgrade, I never want to go back into the water again. Crocodiles were bad enough. Horrible, horrible things.

I think Eurogamer said there's a lot more NPC / animal activity in new-gen versions, so the difference between 3 and 4 may not be entirely a gameplay decision.
