Every time he talks about the birds he stops, looks around, and starts firing blindly out of fear. It's fantastic.
I really hope Dell gets this to me by Friday. It looks like it's tons of fun.
The FC4 installer is crashing on me. Currently verifying files with my fingers crossed.
[edit]
The verify process found corrupted files. I clicked the "fix" button and it started re-downloading the entire game. I'm starting to regret getting a discounted uPlay key via GMG instead of just ponying up the full amount on Steam.
Well so far I'm not super impressed. It's good, don't get me wrong, but it's not great. My biggest complaint is that it's nearly a total reskin of 3 which is a shame (although expected from the previews) because each Far Cry game has always done something entirely new (at least for Far Cry).
Far Cry 2 was vastly different than 1
Far Cry 3 was vastly different than 2
Far Cry 4 is vastly identical to 3
I will still play and enjoy it but their new ideas bus broke down on 3
I was watching a gameplay video of four and for a moment thought I was actually watching old footage of three.

And Far Cry Blood Dragon had dinosaurs with laser eyes.

That's a good way to put it. It does feel way too identical in places. I do vastly prefer this location though.
The thing that bothered me about Far Cry 3 was the colour coding of the pirates. It stopped the world from feeling real to me (I just couldn't see pirates agreeing on a colour and sticking to it.) I was hoping they'd do away with the colour code thing altogether but this time at least it's an army so I can accept them having matching uniforms and that those uniforms could be a brightish colour (especially under Pagan Min) and I can also see the shining path wearing coloured arm bands.
Saw this elsewhere, but if you edit the config settings xml file in "Users/{UserProfileNameHere}/Documents/My games/Far Cry 4" and change "Smoothness" and "Smoothness Ironsight" to "0", it makes the mouse control much more tolerable.
The weird laggy mouse response was bugging the hell out of me.
I pre-ordered my copy from Dell on 9/25 with a credit that they gave me with Destiny. My shipment has been delayed to the 26th.
My buddy read some reviews and ordered it yesterday with his Dell Destiny credit. His shipped last night.
I hate Dell and am jealous of you all that get to play it.
Far Cry 4 is vastly identical to 3
This is good news for me. I loved 3. Just played (or let's be honest, got through the opening cinematic and game REALLY started) a bit last night and am excited to get further in tonight.
Wow, those eagles are bastards.
Total bastards. Like, OMFG.
Had to restart though because of computer issues I never really got past the first wolf den thing. Playing on my wife's graphics card is killing me. It's capable(550 TI) but not what I'm used too. I really loved the gameplay of FC3 so I'm completely fine with this. I like that the story seems a bit more mature and less 'white savior' and uh grappling hook guys, it's rad.
Try out the user created Outposts. You can play them without PS Plus on PS4. The top one at the moment is Sniper Fest and it's enormous fun.
Dell sells video games?
Hah, apparently not very well. The only reason I purchased there was because they were giving a $25 game credit with Destiny with overnight delivery(which ended up being 3 day delivery). I was supposed to get an update from them yesterday but it looks like my Farcry is still in limbo.

I would call, make a stink. We has a similar issue with a blanket for our bed and my wife badgered them for days and we eventually got our product and $80 sheet set for our 'trouble'. It might not make the game show up faster but it could maybe lead to getting something else?

The idea of user created outposts makes me really excited to play this game, hopefully I will get it for Christmas. The outposts were my favorite part of Far Cry 3 and if people make a lot of good ones that's just so many more hours of fun.
I enjoy the fact they brought back convoy attacks and time-of-day adjustments to the general gameplay from 2. Time to bone up on my complex attack tactics.

I tried on chat but they were useless. I think my annoying phone call tolerance is done for the day since I already had to call the car insurance and credit card companies today.
I got this for the PS4 so I'm not totally dominating the computer when Karla wants to play Dragon Age Inquisition. Anyone want to try coop this weekend?
I'll give it a go if you see me about on Saturday (I think I sent you a friend request when I was firing a lot out recently.)
This is so much fun. Pretty much everything has been improved in some way. A lot of the core mechanics are the same, absolutely, but the world feels meatier, and it's more cohesive, somehow.
For me, it's similar to the changes Assassin's Creed made from the second game to Brotherhood. (Far Cry 2 is not the first Assassin's Creed in this comparison)
Flying the Buzzer with a grenade launcher is what I've always wanted out of an open world game, so that helps, too.
Okay so I beat the game. Some thoughts.
First off technical stuff. Basically this game is much more buggy then 3. In fact I had one crippling bug, and one game stopping bug. Fortunately both of these were fixed in the recent patch. I've only seen some weirdness left, and one crash. This game seems to take way more juice to run then 3. I could play the previous one maxed out. Not on this one, had to turn it down significantly. First game I've had to do that for.
Now for the game itself. It's far cry 3. The exact same thing with some improvements. The side missions do get boring real fast, but the main missions are fun. My only complaint is that the difficulty can be broken very easily. One of the earliest weapons you get is a one handed nade launcher. It's really powerful. At the beginning with 12 shots for max ammo it's fine. But you can easily raise that to 60 rounds. Couple that with a extremely powerful lmg I got early on and all the fights were trivial. Your only real weakness is you're made of glass, regenerating glass but glass still. Also I wished fortresses were more interesting. It's a good idea that they didn't go far enough with.
As for the story. I think it's much better in this version. Overall all the characters are better actors and the plot is more solid. The decision system, while interesting, made me want to yell at the two golden path leaders. I just kept seeing ways to compromise for a better option. Also getting yelled at by them was not fun. Oh and the main character is basically a non-entity. No opinion of will of his own really and will do anything anyone asks of him mostly.
Overall fun but not great. Kind of like a generic piece of candy. Tasty and you'll eat it but you'll mostly forget about it in an hour.
I've gotta say, I'm pretty much in this one for the multiplayer. If it were all solo I wouldn't have bothered.
Does PS4's shareplay feature work with this? If it does I'll persuade a friend to get a copy.
There is the 'Keys to Kyrat' system on Playstation where you can invite a friend. It sounds like shareplay also works. Here is the difference.
It's a fantastic game. I can give you a key if you want to try it.
Thanks for the offer Higgledy. What's happening is I'm buying a PS4 this week, or intend to, and I'm trying to figure out what game to rent.
My friend bought FC4, so I can hop into his game with his keys. But if I rented it, I'd be reliant on other people to lend me keys and I'd need a PS+ subscription to invite people in to my game.
PS+ doesn't quite feel worth it yet, so I'm leaning to renting Shadow of Mordor and playing in my friend's game using his keys and PSN.
Of course this depends on what bundles are on offer for Black Friday; maybe there'll be a tempting one with FC4 and PSN at a big discount.
I hope there are some great deals for you. Game seems to have the best bundles at the moment. Hit me with a friend request when you get set up :).
