I think you should do it, Hypatian. This a huge opportunity for you. Chances like this do not come around quickly or easily, so I think you should take it.
Congratulations Hyp!
Congratulations, Hypatian, and go for it. I'm happy to contribute any resources the two of you might need.

And my Axe! Wait...I mean. I agree
And my bow!.. um, me too. I'm glad you got bumped up Hyp, and if i can help in any way, you have but to ask. Same goes for anyone in the thread.
Congratulations
As a note: If any trans or otherwise non-cis folks in the US need legal support getting ID changed (name, gender markers) or getting a passport (which is the easiest ID to get with proper gender for people who live in some states) before the new administration takes power, please let me know.
There are a lot of resources right now with people donating time and money to help make this happen, so that as many trans folks as possible in the US get as much safety as they can before any policies change.
I would be interested in the name change stuff! Gender marker should be pretty easy for me, I think.
Whoa, congrats, Hyp! That's quite a date move! Crazy good timing though, cause post Jan. 20.............
Just wanted to thank everyone here again for helping me with donations towards my orchiectomy. With the looming spectre of the ACA being repealed and coverage for trans health being removed, that I no longer have to worry about testosterone ever again is a major relief.
If anyone else is interested in getting an orchiectomy, please contact me for details. While mine wasn't covered by insurance, the price was $3,000 and was performed without needing any letters from medical professionals or therapists.
For donations, I think TLDEF would be a good choice in general. If you're in need of assistance, take a look at #TransLawHelp on twitter—there are a lot of people sharing resources, lawyers posting phone numbers in various states, etc. There seems to be a list people are keeping, although it's lacking a lot of states.
For Indiana, I found a tweet referring to this facebook event tomorrow at Indiana University: Name and Gender Marker Change Event "On November 12th from 12 noon to 4 pm, Indiana Legal Services and Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law will be hosting a direct service event for transgender people seeking help with name and gender marker changes."
And in more personal news, the most O_O form I've had to fill out today is definitely "STERILIZATION CONSENT FORM (NON-FEDERALLY FUNDED)" from the California Department of Public Health.
Hey now we definitely know we can't get pregnant, right?

That's at the top of my list. I have a doctor appointment Monday after next and am going to bring it up then. My insurance is supposedly covering "gender dysphoria" next year, but they won't say what that means. If it's not covered, that's still low enough that my HSA will cover it.

Well, if you need the doctor's info, hit me up!

My primary already mentioned there is someone in town who can do it. Should be able to get a referral from her. But thank you!
I really regret transitioning. I'm stuck in a place where I can't reliably pass as either gender no matter what I do and it just makes going out to do the things I need to do, like get a job, feel overwhelmingly daunting. I missed a job interview today because if I dress up like a girl, I'll fail to pass as that. But if I dress up as a guy, I'll fail as that. And both prospects terrify me. Because if I try my best to look like a girl and fail, then that's just an immense slap in the face psychologically. And that's not accounting for the mockery of society and utter certainty of failure at getting the job. And if I fail to pass as a guy, then I'm just inviting tons of misery and rejection for being a freak.
I really got in over my head with transitioning.
I really wish I knew what I could say to make you feel better Boog', beyond just "hang in there" which sounds woefully inadequate under the circumstances
Is there a support group in your area you can get in touch with to talk to in person? Or any nearby Goodjers?
What help I can offer feels incredibly useless with me on the other side of the Atlantic but If there *is* anything you think I can do to help, just let me know.
Thanks, pyxistyx. Not really anything to do about it. Appreciate the kind words!

There's a whole truckload of P&C-style baggage that culminated in the need for that form.
But I just popped in here to ask people to send GWJer cuddly healing vibes Hyp's way.
Done! *squints and makes mystical-Ish wavy motions with hands*
Hey folks,
Hypatian's surgery went perfectly. She went in early this morning and was out of recovery around 2 PM Pacific time. There were no complications and she had minimal blood loss, according to her surgeon.
I'm with her right now and she's doing well. A little bit of pain but nothing that's unexpected. She'll be in the hospital for at least 48 hours, and we're expecting her to be discharged on Saturday.
She's touched that y'all are thinking of her, and she sends her love and thanks for your thoughts.
Here is some wishes for a fast recovery!
Congrats Hypatian! I hope you have a smooth recovery.
Mazes tov to Hyp and wishes for a speedy recovery
