See everyone again for 0.25!

Okay, this is insane. This guy played 24 games during the tournament and won all 24. As far as I can tell, he played a different race and background for all 24 games ... did not repeat a single one. How is it even possible to be that good at this game.

There are some crazy players out there: https://www.reddit.com/r/dcss/comments/duiuhi/024_tourney_top_40_player_stats/

Also, that player (manman) has a 50-win streak going atm.

So I decided to go a bit longer after the tournament finished and finally got myself a 15 rune win. There were very few problems during the whole thing, just a bit during Tomb3 where mistakes were made but I lived. And I felt for the most part I was way overpowered for what I was doing. Started with Oka but switched to TSO for the extended run.

I guess next time I need to try a Zigg.

Wow, grats! That is an awesome achievement!

BloatCrawl 2 (fork) announcement release.

I’ve played some BloatCrawl 1, but haven’t tried 2 yet. Looks amusing and almost certainly unbalanced. Have fun.

Bonus amusing fact: The greatest skill aptitude for this character is Charms, at +5.

Yeah, but are they lucky?

They are! At least that's what the race description claimed, and given the number of good enchanted items I got in the first handful of dungeon levels, I think it's a valid claim.

I haven't won a game of DCSS, but one of my gamer goals for the year was to escape with the orb.

...achievement unlocked!

njudah - MiBe^Tr morgue file - first win

Pumped to keep playing more -- definitely become my go to game after work at the moment.

Congrats! Huge achievement!

Congratulations njudah!

Congrats! It took me many years to get my first win, and I still don't run away early enough

Congratulations! That's a great thing.

Crawl Sudden Death Challenge for 0.24 started up last Friday.

https://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~ebering...

Week 1: VpAs

I died to a hydra when entering Lair. Was fun though, never played Vp nor As. Got 2 points though.

0.24 CSDC Week 2: TeTm

I have no idea how to play one of those so my game will be short.

Edit: and dead at level [email protected]%. You get one do-over so long as you don't get to level 5, which I just hit when I stupidly (how else?) died.

Man, I can't get far even with an "easy" Tm race. Much less Tengu...

I had never played one before I don't think. They are hard, there are no ways to escape that I can see.

Beastly appendages is decent enough, I guess, but it lasts what feels like far too short an amount of time and still misses pretty often.

Sticks to Snakes (the next spell up) can be good except you cannot spam it as a low level (maybe you can later - I think I have seen a playthrough where they could get 3-4 out?) and the snakes you get are very fragile, so you cannot really use them as blockers while you run away. They are almost useless in the open, which is where I died - kobold with poison darts appeared around a corner just peppering me and I could not get away. My dumb snake did not want to stand in the way.

I just went down the stairs to Vaults 2 and there is a WizLab entrance here. I'm not sure which one, I haven't moved from the entrance.

I'm doing the standard MiBe. Is WizLab something I should mess with? I've never been in one before.

I would say go for it. The few that I have been in were not that hard. Just know that sometimes the loot is hidden, or the entrance opens later. But I always go into the special vaults if I find them in time, even when I probably shouldn't (like going into an ice cave with no nC+ gear).

I have a feeling going in at this level (19) isn't the smartest thing to do. The entrance is here on Vaults 2, which seems like an early time to try it compared to where else it can be located.

I'm going in, though. It's all about the fun, right?

Good luck!

It ended up being "Doroklohe's Tomb", mummy version. I dropped a Holy weapon earlier in the game to make room. I wish I would have had it with me.

Busting into V:2 was tough and I burnt 2 Brothers at that time. I summoned one near the end of the WizLab, but failed on a subsequent attempt so I read a Teleport scroll in a panic. It put me in a good spot, luckily.

It wasn't too bad, overall. I did get down to 40hp at one point. Torments and Smites hurt me guuuud. I don't recall killing an Ancient Lich, though. I killed a lot of mummies and other crap.

The loot was pretty weak - for my character. I didn't take any items out with me except for a couple potions and scrolls. An amulet of magic regen dropped and what would have been a decent hat if it weren't for the -7: -7 hat "Xoiz" {Str+2 Int+2 Slay+3}. I don't currently have a hat since it's the only one that has dropped.

I survived, so it's time to march onward!

I was doing well in V:4 for having fallen through a hole to get there. And then this happened:
IMAGE(https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/604494997479227403/681677352056782923/unknown.png)

I should have been paying better attention to what I was fighting. I had just killed a bunch of dudes and not really reading. Duh.

I have lots of food and my AC is 61 after my +4 great mace (protect) procs on hit. Trog be with me.

Then again, I may get real lucky and find the rune, right? Right? Yeah, I'm a dreamer.

Edit: It put me on Abyss:3. At least there's a chance for the rune w/o me having to survive for 2 levels first!

-BEP

Only one mob in view (Large Abomination). I took off diagonally, went about 10 steps, and found the door to Abyss:4 w/o seeing another monster. I took it and landed right next to the exit. Rational me says to get out and focus on getting ready for Slime. Wanna-be-fun me says keep going!

I think it's Fun Time.

-BEP

Abyss can be not all that bad if you have a lot of teleport scrolls. See troubles coming? Teleport and leave them all behind for new troubles.

I kept going, then found a portal to Abyss:5. I took it and then sh*t got real. I went in with at least 14 Tele scrolls and left with 9? I think. I didn't want to leave, but my health was getting real low.

On Depths 5, I got sent right back on an auto-explore by a Lich. It sent me to Abyss:1, but I somehow got to Abyss:5 real quickly, running for my life. I did take one portal to Abyss:2, but I don't know how I got to 5. I was just running and chatting with Dorkmanship in Discord when I noticed where I was.

No rune, and I skedaddled as soon as I found the exit down there.

I just finished Depths:5. I'm 4% into level 23. Since I'm playing MiBe, which I've won before, maybe I should do some exploring this time in places I haven't been. I'm thinking about doing Slime to get the 3rd rune then doing Zot 1-4 then heading to Elven Halls. If I survive all that, I was going to try doing some branch I've never been in for the fun of it and just not care if I die. Seeing a new place would be nice - even if it's the last place I see.

I am currently wearing +10 Gold Dragon Scales and wielding a +4 great mace (Protect). I have 6 enchant weapon scrolls. I also have a +0 Eveningstar lying somewhere. My resists aren't the best, even with the stuff I've left around the dungeon.

Time for bed. Booya the Slayer needs a rest, anyway.

Elven Halls is easier than Depths. No need to save doing it.

Math wrote:

Easier than Zot, probably. Easier than Depths, questionable; the higher-tier elves can be real pains in the ass, and the end vault is no joke. As always, an abundance of caution is advised.

Good to know, thanks. In my limited DCSS time, I think I’ve done Elven Halls 3 times, dying one of them.

I’m playing the Windows version of the latest release. I was getting weird lag online while trying out a caster so decided to see what the downloaded version was like. I really like being able to right-click a mob to get the info on it. It’s enough faster than the online way that I use it a lot more. I don’t use the inventory box in the bottom right. I probably would if I would take the time to grok all the icons.
