And of all those axes, only the vamp one should be used

Antimagic executioner's axe is suuuuuuuuper strong in Zot.

I hate being cast into the Abyss. Had a good TrMo^Qaz to spider nest, and ran into Louise with a 50% banishment too far for a silence to work who banished me first turn. At level 16 with Qaz I tried but it was a closed area so Disaster didn't get me enough kills to call an exit.

I think I found the Abyssal rune vault.

I'd run away and try for an easier one.

Bah! I got it in the most remarkable way! I walked in and took it, after killing most of the stuff in there. Bwahahahahaha! As it turns out, almost everything in there (and there was a ton more, even) didn't have SInv, so I went stab-happy. Made it out with only a single minor permanent mutation (and about 20% of my health )

Note to self: don't play tired.

Almost died on V:1 due to not paying attention to where I was attacking, eating a crystal spear, realizing I was in a lot of trouble, blinking but having a guardian serpent blink a bunch of baddies around me. Luckily I was close to the stairs out. With boots of running I made it out with 1 HP and 3 harpies. Had to quaff a cure potion just to make sure I did not buy it from them.

All because I was tired and not concentrating.

I lost my SpEn to an Orb of Fire on Z:5. I was having no trouble with anything else in all of Zot — killed a sleeping OOF in one stab on Z:3, and Orb Guardians and Ancient Liches were no problem at all — but my summons were insufficient to take care of that last OOF.

In retrospect, I probably should have started running away sooner, and quaffed a potion of resistance to get a second pip of rF, and haste to help GTFO.

Been out of town for a couple of days & didn't get a chance to play. Lemme figure out how to make a team and I'll set up a third today.

OK, I've set it up in my rcfile on CAO:
# TEAMNAME What_s_That_Button_Do

I can add people until 4pm US EDT today.

Ok I added you as my leader qaraq.

Updated the rc file. I also changed the team name to 'What_s_That_Button_Do' to make it legit.

Honestly having trouble deciding which option to take for my 3rd Rune:

Vaults is tempting because I can get rF+++ and the immolation trick is always fun.
Abyss is tempting because I have a TON of tele scrolls. And a vamp weapon.
Slime is kinda my default option, I guess.

I would go with Abyss, because it's fun being lost. I kinda hate Slime these days with all the mutation changes. I've never actually tried the immolation trick, if I get to that point with my current build, I'll take it.

I do have an interesting weapon that I picked up: +9 heavy crossbow "Sniper" {velocity, Acc+∞ SInv}. I never miss, just have to start training crossbows.

I've just been lurking but those Executioners axes above look really nice. Electric until Zot then absolutely roll Zot with the antimagic one. Antimagic executioners axe is a 15 rune type weapon for sure.

Ended up going for the Vault rune, and it was relatively easy. Murdered the 'welcoming party' with immolation then tele'd out and made my stand on the edges. Vamp weapon+might+haste=tab-to-win.

Had a few close calls when I got shafted from Zot:2 to Zot:4, and again when I opened a ghost-vault in Zot:5 (not smart). The Orb run itself went smoothly.

Overall I felt the character was pretty weak until the very end. I had about one useful demonspawn mutation (guardian, which is really really good) and didn't find anything better than plate armor until Depths.

Congrats on another fine win, math! I don't know how you win in 4 hours while it has taken me that long to get just two runes at level 17. Guess it just comes with experience.

Yeah, it's mostly experience: I've won with those combos before and can be comfortable going a little quickly.

Another 2 rune death. Didn't have much hope for that run based on a nearly total lack of resistances, but it was fun while it lasted.

And just like that, put one in the win column for me

Nicely done! 7 Orbs of Fire and 15 Ancient Liches is an ugly Zot experience...

Speaking of an ugly Zot experience, I had only 3 mutation potions and encountered WAY too many Orbs of Fire. Ended up with teleportitis and berserkitis, though luckily I'd cleared half of the 'lungs' at that point. I just grabbed the Orb and ran like hell. Teleportitis didn't trigger once during the run, miraculously.

So yeah, unarmed combat is really strong. Claws make it even more so. Highlight of the run was being Abyss-ed in Depths and saying "hell, I'll go get the rune while here!" and then doing it pretty quickly.

Congrats*2! Team GWJ Player Ghosted is representing pretty strong this tourney!

And congrats to Senkrad for the first win of team GWJ RU Kidding Me!

WOO, nicely done Senkrad!

Thanks! It is my 3rd lifetime win and my first MiBe

I did that thing I said should never be done, and came calamitously close to losing an otherwise-strong character.

And then you went and talked about it.... You were *this* close merphle!

Yeah, but I still managed to get a 4-rune (sans-Abyss) win with Qazlal.

Bah, lost a good CeHu^Oka run in Vaults:1.

I think Vaults:1 is exactly the place where my confidence becomes overconfidence.
