Solitaire Siege is free for today (29th)
I picked that up I'm not sure of it though worth a shot being free.

It loads really, really slow on a 1st gen iPhone and it looks like crap....free is about what it is worth.
Played it for a bit on my 3GS. Probably wouldn't pay for it, but it's not bad. Took me a while to figure out what I was doing.
geoDefense Swarm has eaten me! Also is it just me or does it get incredibly hard even in the medium levels? Stupid show off Nailhead. Anyway, feel free to look for me: DF7 on twitter.
Solitaire Siege isnt a bad concept but isnt executed well, obviously hasnt really been tested either. The game is choppy, loads slowly, and its various messages disappear almost as soon as they come up. Not much is explained either, like what all the little powerups are and what you should use to counter what (grenade vs wall, or you get stuck)
GeoDefense Swarm, however, is effin great.

Yeah, it's crazy difficult. Of course, I never really played many other TD games previously, so maybe it's just growing pains for me.

Nucleotide is proving pretty much impossible for me right now. I know there's a solution, but I'll be damned if I can see it right now...
geoDefense Swarm has eaten me!
Also the original GeoDefense got an update. Updates on some levels (cleared your high scores) and some new levels.

Oh Good!
I've never played the original, but usually I'm pretty good at Tower Defense. I have yet to beat the first level of medium, but that's because I restart as soon as I miss one. And I always seem to miss one somewhere in the early teen levels.
I've been playing Lux Touch lately because I was looking for a Risk clone. Pretty disappointed in it, mostly because the cards start scaling so ridiculously high that your units from territories and continents are irrelevant.
Anyone have other suggestions for Risk-type territory conquest games? I could swear I saw someone playing something cool on the bus the other day.
Well I finally caved in and got a 32 gb iPod Touch during my trip to Boston
I've been playing with it a bit, installed a bunch of games, some of which I had ~prior~ to buying the thing. I'm absolutely amazed. This will be very bad for my wallet.
(at least it's a .99 cent / 9.99 bad, not 59.99 bad)
Geo Defense Swarm is really nice, although the learning curve on this one is a bit out of balance.
I can't believe you all raved so much about Civ Revolution. While I agree it is amazing that we get Civ Rev portable (and I only paid $2.99 for it on a sale weekend), but the game crashes A LOT on my 2nd gen iPod Touch (running the latest OS). Very, very, very frustrating.

Actually have the same issues here. It's annoying, but I couldn't get mad for some reason.
Nucleotide is where I'm stuck as well. Everything's so FAST on that level.
Nucleotide is easy! Just make a zigzag maze and use the basic gun to fill it out. Then once you get done laying out the maze start dropping thumpers in the U turns. This way the thumpers get 2 shots at everything, also put laser guns on the long straightaways and missles sprinkled around and you should pass with ease. You want a jacked up level go try the hatch. You have not seen speed until you get to that freaking level. Also I do not want to speak about the race.
So the bumpers hit the enemy twice with those waves? I was confused on how they worked. There is no place that tells your what the towers do.

Yeah, I could never quite figure out what the Thumpers actually *do*. My impression is that maybe they cause explosions to damage other creeps? I have yet to find any good documentation on the game...
I played the last level of medium on geoDefense swarm last night, although I haven't been going in order. It took me about an hour, but I made it to wave 133 or so.
The Dexter game is really well done.. I'm amazed at the graphics the iPhone can push.. I can only imagine what the real iPhone "2" will be pushing when that finally gets released.
I can't imagine that Microsoft is going to let Apple now take gaming from them.. if I'm Microsoft I'm screaming at my engineers to get a Zune device that plays XBLA games faithfully out yesterday.
Civ Rev has become my favorite game. I play it in little spots here and there and I can complete whole games in a couple days. Quite cool.
Thumpers cause damage based on how close the creeps are to the thumper. The high level ones do multiple waves of damage at longer distances. What I normally do with Thumpers is make a line of them and upgrade them like made and then have slow turets slow or stop creeps right next to the thumpers. You can stop a creep by having 6 level 6 slow towers hit them. here is how I use them.
x-shock tower
0-thumper
A-other tower
good place is corners with shock towers
aaaaaaaaaaaa
__________a
aaaxao_____a

or long stretches with shock towers on each side
aaaaxaaaaaaaxaaaaaaaxaaaaaaaaaa

oooooooooooooooooooooooo___a

Cool thing about long stretches is you can just add shock towers and this increases the amount of creeps you can catch in the trap. If you place the shock towers perfectly they will hand off creeps to each other so it takes forever to move past getting thumped the whole way.

I guess this just shows how much you know these games compared to me. I can't figure out how to make a very effective zigzag because of the speed hexes that jut out into the open sections. I can really only get a small number of switchbacks before there's no way to redirect them, and it doesn't get long enough to finish things out.

I don't think it is easy either. Screen shots or it didn't happen!
I finally got my iPod reformatted and working (long story) and managed to download the new Geodefense. I'm: imsneakinaround on twitter so friend me up and watch me destroy your scores! (Maybe.)

I didn't use any thumpers:
I ended up buying an IPod touch this week and so far am really loving it. I was finding myself watching a lot of videos on my current ipod so justified the purchase to myself this way and have to admit the new screen is really nice. So far I've been playing a lot of Harbour Master and Fieldrunners, both very addicting, lots of fun and great for playing while listening to music or podcasts.
I've been reading through this thread and picked up or plan to pick up a lot of the games recommended so far. Any other "essential" games anyone thinks I'm missing from this list?
Alive 4-Ever, Bookworm, Drop 7, Fieldrunners, geodefence Swam, Harbour Master, Peggle, Rolando, Space Invaders Infinity Gene, Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor, Wolvenstein RPG
I know I'm missing Civilization (never got along with the DS version) and Monkey Island (already bought on PC) but wondered if I'm missing anything else important. In particular I'd like to pickup a few board/card games as I find them perfect for a quick pick up and play game and am looking forward to Catan coming out this month.
Here's how I finally beat Nucleotide. It was damn close though.
