Where's My Perry - Disney water based puzzler (spinoff of Where's My Water) great little game. My 9yo son loved it.

My ipad doesn't have access to the internet, so it ain't! I was assuming it was a dice roll!

I don't even drink coffee. I have my wife trained. Every time she buys one of her $5 coffees, she picks up a few of the cards.

Or maybe she has me trained to take the free code an don't complain about her overpriced coffee.

They have some Puzzlejuice cards at my Starbucks. I have the game, and I don't grab them every time like Ego's "wife," but if anyone wants one I can get a couple tomorrow morning.

So I made the "mistake" of re-installing Galaxy on Fire 2 ...

Seriously, if you have not played this game and are into space sims...Do yourself a favor.

Just got around to checking out Dots. Fun little time waster, but I don't know how long it'll hold my attention.

Was hooked on this before when it was first released. Yeah, really addicting but does become repetitive. I did play it for like 12 hours.

Despite the atrocious voice acting, that is my favorite ios game. I've double dipped on the non hd/hd versions plus got all the dlc (and beaten them, though not even close to 100%-ing the achievements).

Square Enix lifts the veil on new iOS first-person shooter Deus Ex: The Fall

The game's set in 2027 (the same year as console game Deus Ex: Human Revolution), and stars the book's hero, Ben Saxon, a former British SAS Mercenary and ex-member of the Tyrants (the bad guys from Human Revolution).
Deus Ex: The Fall will retail for £4.99 / $6.99, and this "first instalment of the mobile series" will be available in the summer.

Looks pretty cool, but if it has virtual stick controls, I will pass as usual.

Just wanted to give a quick shout-out to some local indie devs in the St. Louis area - Butterscotch Shenanigans is releasing their next iOS game, Quadropus Rampage, on the app store tomorrow. The game is a zany roguelike brawler that's based upon their submission for the last 7DRL (seven-day roguelike) challenge and it's free-to-play, so check it out!

Anyone know of any good Heroes of Might and Magic clones for iOS?

I haven't tried it yet but there is this: http://appshopper.com/games/kings-bo...

Kingdom Rush Frontiers is fantastic. It's pretty much the same game with newer heroes, towers and enemies. There are some cooler environmental surprises as well. Tons of fun and made my commute disappear.

That's the closest I've found. Unfortunately, I think the iOS client is iPad only.

There was an unofficial HoMM2 clone a few years back which was apparently yanked. Really surprised Ubisoft has no interest in getting the franchise on iOS, unless you count Duels of Champions which is a really good F2P CCG.

It started at iPad only but its now "universal". I have so many unplayed games on my device that I haven't given it a try yet. Did you try it out? I would be interested hearing some impressions. I'm always wary of free games.

Full blown HoMM games would be awesome.

Grabbed it after I saw Tempest's post. So far it is pretty much Kingdom Rush 2 - the same mechanics. The heroes are more RPGey, you can level up their abilities now and allocate points. Some of the new tower upgrades are neat, I tried the earthquake artillery tower, it has a pretty nifty 'ground pound' animation, add on the area-burn and the special effects animation is a nice step up. It is Kingdom Rush polished up, which is great.

I've sunk a bit of time into it and actually gave the developers (Nival), however it probably skews a lot closer to King's Bounty than HoMM, and I haven't played KB yet.

You have a persistent army and you basically move from town to town clearing encounters (your standard HoMM fight). You buy new units with the gold you earn, although the game gives you some units after quests. Your units never really die since you can heal the stacks to full strength after each encounter. The game has an Energy mechanic in place, so you expend energy on fights, healing units, and moving between locations. Your maximum energy increases each time your account levels up (you gain XP from fights). As far as F2P games go, it's fairly generous and doesn't really nag a ton to pay them.

However, if you're looking to play for more than 20 minutes at a rip, you're going to be sorely disappointed. I also feel the difficulty is a little skewed to being a bit on the grindy side which might be a deliberate decision to get you to spend money in the shop on additional troops. I think there is an ultimate end to the game, but I haven't reached it yet. I will say that the slow pace of progression turned me away from it a few months ago (especially after they wrecked the unit upgrade system by requiring really expensive items), but I still check in occasionally, although mostly on my PC (it's a Facebook game) where it runs a bit better.

Picked up Scurvy Scalawags, a Ron Gilbert game, and it's awesome. It's a match 3 game with some RPG elements and some strategy mixed in as well. It has some funny cutscenes and the music is great. I normally don't like match 3 games but this one is addictive and has a certain charm that keeps me playing.

Thanks for the input. I think I will pass on it. Being grindy and pushing towards IAP is a huge turnoff for me.

The pushing is subtle. I just felt that at certain points in the game I was seeing jumps in the power of the armies I was fighting and the solution was to basically keep fighting easier enemies to grind money to buy more troops, or just pay money to buy more troops instantly. Again, haven't played King's Bounty before so I don't know if this is how those games normally work.

I loled at a certain environment event in Kingdom Rush

Spoiler:

Sand people sniper

Scurvy Scallywags is pretty darn entertaining.

It's a match-3 game with RPG elements. The mechanics of how new tiles drop-in (they can come from the sides or the bottom, depending on the direction you match) adds another layer of strategy. $0.99, with available IAP for a gold doubler or outright gold purchase (which don't seem to be necessary -- they will speed things up a bit, but I've not felt hampered by gaining gold through gameplay). There's the occasional timed level, but overall it's more turn-based and tactical. Your avatar (and the monsters) show up on the match-3 grid, and you need to maneuver them to collect items, power-up your attacks and attack the monsters.

Plus it's designed by Ron Gilbert, so it's amusing.

RPG elements -- leveling up skills (crit, dodge, attack power, gold, damage, health), collecting materials to build better pirate ships (which give skill bonuses), collecting equipment (for skill bonuses), and collecting items for quests.

IGN is running a promo where they give away a free keys to iPhone, iPhone Touch, and iPad gamers...this month's free game is Plants v. Zombies.

If you don't have the game, you have no excuse now. And if you have it on your phone, but not the HD version for the iPad (or vice versa), you can pick the other up free.

What about Battle for Wesnoth? It's a port of the open source hero driven combat game....and it's insanely deep. Lots of campaigns to run, lots of add ons.

Huh... Google Chrome just marked this thread as malware due to some link in it. Anyone else get this?

Looks like n4g would be the culprit. They don't have the warmest of reputations.

While I'm here, I'd like to add my affection to Scurvy Scallywags. It's very well done, has story and presentation most match 3's don't, and that lovable charm Ron Gilbert is known for. I'll also note that it doesn't support the Music app and it's own music at the same time.

I'll nth that as well. Spent a good 1.5-2 hours playing it yesterday. Really fun!
