iPhone Games Catch-All

I "beat" it and don't really feel any compulsion to go back and do it again. Fun enough while it lasted, although like many of these city builders there's really no way to fail. Play suboptimally and it will just take longer is all.

It's worth noting that while I also enjoy Puzzlecraft, I enjoy it more when it works. Folks with iPod 4g and lower quality devices should wait until they've got the bugs handled. The first week was a game breaking "no string" bug, which deleted your progress. And now there's a bug that doesn't let you hire more workers, which I have, among others. At least I'm rich in game while I wait their growing pains out.

I also recently finished Puzzlecraft. I could still hire more workers, but I have my castle. It was a bit grindy towards the end, but it was a lot of fun.

Keep leveling up, and you're closer than you think. I went from a high of 1.5 million to a ten million run. I've never been able to duplicate that run, though.

I can testify to this. The game is basically a treadmill and the only way you're going to hit the goal is by leveling up and getting the objectives to open up the next starting point. That's the only way to increase your multiplier which is how you'll reach the end.

I am dumbly addicted to 10000000 right now. For the last several nights I’ve set down to runs of this ios game in replacement of hooking into any number of pc games. I’m loving the grind. I began to grow weary of the game, hitting on the high range of 2 Million with some consistency. Then I realized that I had hardly upgraded my armor. The game seems like a worthy challenge again, as I once again think I can totally hit the goal.

Uh oh. It is starting to feel grindy for me and I'm only at village.

I find it helps to invest in lots of workers.

Ticket to Ride Pocket is free for the next five days.

On Puzzlecraft, the endgame (for me) involved buying workers in order to find the most efficient way to get resources. Look ahead to the buildings you will be buying and focus on higher level resources that you need to acquire.

Run Roo Run is also free right now. It's quite fun!

Does Days of Wonder know the iPhone 5 is also coming out in Europe, hint hint. Switzerland and Asia too!

Yeah, it seems like it's impossible to get the third-tier resources without investing heavily in the "reduce the amount of X it takes to make Y" workers. Or maybe I'm just bad at puzzling (Triple Town was a disaster for me).

How far can you buy those up? Can you get it all the way down to three carrots for an apple (for example)?

Yep. Once you reduce all the farm resources to collecting only 3 to get the upgraded form to drop, as well as a couple of multiple-collection-at-once abilities that I won't spoil, you'll fly through the rest of the game.

Just had a "perfect" game of Ascension against the AI last night. By which I mean I never had to buy any Mystics or Heavy Infantry. It started with 5 apprentices for that one construct that gives 1 rune a turn and rolled on from there. It was amazing.

Cross posting from the iPad thread because it applies to both ( should we combine threads? ) :

Square Enix just released a new card game called Guardian Cross for both the iPhone and iPad. I only did a little of the tutorial, has a pokemon catch-em-all type of thing to "catch" new cards. You can also upgrade cards with guardian points ( terms may not be 100% accurate ).

Oh, and they have a gimmic where if you get friends to enter your friend code you and your friend will get gifts ( cards or guardian points or something ). So, if you want to enter my friend code it is HI36961

You can buy up to 5 of each type of worker.

Does anyone know if the new armies for Neuroshima Hex can be bought as a pack together for a discount or do they all have to be purchased separately?

No package deal as of yet, though they have been known to be on sale for $0.99 each.

Gunman Clive is free today only. If you like Megaman, Contra and a little DKC you will really enjoy this. It's much simpler but the style is pretty awesome. Make sure to turn the graphics to "advanced".

Picked it up, thanks for the recommendation.

Ok, I'll look for that. Maybe you can help - I can't figure out how to discard a tile after the initial discard phase of a turn. The manual says you can do it, but I can't figure out how to get rid of extra tiles. I tried dragging them every which way, but no luck. Help?

So it's one of those brown shooters, is it?

I'll give it a go, thanks.

I love those games, but not with iOS virtual buttons. I can't get past that in platformers =/

Just don't play it. You can click end turn without having all your tiles played.

Press and hold the tile. The x should pop up in the upper left corner, white x on black background.

If you want to test out the multiplayer waters, feel free to send me an invite!

Hehe, I didn't know that. I've always just clicked the end turn button.

Has anyone here been playing Super Hexagon? If so, I'd love to add some friends to compare leaderboard scores with. My ID is Jamos05.

And if you haven't gotten it yet, you're missing out One of the most challenging and addicting games I've played on iOS, bar none.

I've been playing it a little bit, but I'm not very good yet. I've only gotten to about 30 seconds on the first level. I'm gravitypulls-. I'd love more gamecenter friends too!

(p.s. Your avatar makes me very happy. I <3 Marathon.)

Awesome. Just added you. Yay for old school Mac gaming!

I played a ton of it. I was in the top 50 or so in 5 of the 6 leaderboards. Then I started feeling like the world was spinning when I wasn't playing. And not just right after. It took days to go away. I don't play it anymore.

Absolutely wonderful game though, probably my favorite non-async iOS game.

This was me playing Tetris on my TI calculator during the bus ride to and from high school every day. After a few weeks, desks and chairs would try to fit themselves together between the two walls of the classroom while sitting through a boring period of Chemistry. Fortunately (or unfortunately?) there wasn't a bitchin' soundtrack to simultaneously be stuck in my head.
