Well I'll play a bit tonight and hopefully the new buyable towers are just extra choices rather than required purchases to win etc.
Either that or wait a year or 2 till it comes to the PC for a $30 price tag and everything included...

We had that before. But making us shell out another $20 or so for all the extra towers... yeah, not happy with that. Will see how it goes over the next few days.
That is super disappointing I was fine with the paid heroes, but putting 1/3 of the towers in a tower defense game behind a paywall AND keeping the paid heroes? That sucks.
Makes it an easy pass for me.
Yeah, no way I'm down with that. A shame really.
Damn. Yeah, no problem with the extra IAP heroes, an added bonus buy. I think I even bought one once, saw it as tipping the devs for a quality game. Forced pricey purchases though if want to use all the towers, nah. Luckily I've yet to get to the third game, so still have some KR in reserve.
Is the new one a freebie install? The other games weren't freemium, they were a few quid to buy off the bat if I remember rightly, heroes were cash on top of that. I respected them for this model, way better than the freebie norm.
I'd say people expect free and paid doesn't make as much money. Then again Android store has Frontiers and Origins down as 500,000 purchases each. That's not too shabby.
Hey guys. Due to some medical issues, I need to move my gaming over to the iPad. I can't really get into any actiony-type fast paced games, but was thinking something along the lines of Factorio would be kind of good to spend time with.
Are there any decent factorio-likes in the app store? It doesn't have to be free -- I don't mind paying if it provides a good iPad experience.

Not exactly like Factorio, but for a more relaxed gaming session you can play on your iPad, you might wish to check out Stardew Valley and Crashlands.
Thanks for the suggestions. I've played both of those on PC.
I've been spending time with Rocket Valley Tycoon, which is an idle game disguised as a factorio-like. It's not factorio, but it has supply chains, albeit with timers and a quite a bit of waiting around for money to buy your next mine / upgrade. As an idle game, it's pretty good. As a factorio-like, it's not really even close.
If you like the machine building side of Factorio, you could try [the Sequence]. It's not nearly as complex but scratches that Zachtronics itch and is well designed for iPad.
The Sequence looks like its right up my alley. Thanks for the suggestion. I had not heard of it before.
Hadn't heard of it [the Sequence] and picked it up myself. FYI, there's also a sequel - oddly enough named, "the Sequence [2]".
Terraria or Junk Jack might be some good ones for you as well, DonD.
I totally forgot I bought Junk Jack years ago until you mentioned it. I'll have to take a look at it again.
Aw, they didn't call it "the Second Sequence"?
Opportunity missed.
Is the Civ VI multiplayer on iPad stil LAN only?

iOS is now offering preorder purchases for certain “highly anticipated” games. Seems weird to me, but I’ve already preordered two games. You might be interested in the game that I preordered a few minutes ago. It’s from the devs who made Plague Inc. and it’s called Rebel Inc. Its supposed to release on 12/06/18.
Rebel Inc. by Ndemic Creations

You might also be interested in this game called Human Resource Machine. It’s a logic puzzle game based on coding mechanics. It starts off simple enough, but gets really challenging. I’ve never finished it, but I’ve gone back to it several times over the past few years. It has a great presentation as well. Dark humor.
Thanks for the suggestions. Added to my App Wishlist.
Yeah, I was thinking of Human Resource machine as well. Great game. Their next game "7 Billion Humans" is also great, and is apparently releasing on iOS within the next week.
Game of the Year - Donut County
The iOS App Store chose Donut County as their game of the year.
Excellent game, although I did play it on the PS4.
Rebel Inc. by Ndemic Creations has released for $1.99 USD. It says it’s a special sale price. This is the same company that did Plague Inc.
So far, it’s definitely got more to it to me. Fighting off insurgents and trying to maintain stability in your regions.

The first thing that title makes me think of is a certain movie franchise.

I found Plague Inc frustratingly difficult and quit relatively quickly. I don't normally play strategy games though.
I wonder how this one will be?
I'm hunting for a driving game on iOS. It needn't be a racing game. For context, I've been playing Smashy Road: Wanted on and off for a year or more. It is just the right amount of challenging and requires very little commitment either temporally or cognitively. It seems with each new version of iOS, though, to get a little flakier.
I've looked at the Need for Speed and Drift games and I'm not sure how well they play or if I want to spend a lot of time customizing my rims and changing the pitch of my camber. The physics in Smashy Road is surprisingly good and varied; different cars have credible acceleration dynamics, credible weight distributions, and different amounts of traction/driftability. And the voxel art style is joyous.
I've been looking at the App Store today and am going to try some stuff out but wondered if anyone had experience with anything in particular and enjoyed it.
Tropico is out for iPad at $11.99 USD.
It may or may not have an iPhone version upcoming, though I’d give it a good possibility since it’s Feral doing the port
Tropico 1?
Tropico 1?
I believe it’s based on Tropico 3, but just called Tropico in the App Store
3 is good. Thanks!
Muraii,
I might have exactly what you’re looking for. Give this a try.
Holy crap that looks great! Thanks Rawk!
