2014 GWJ Fantasy Baseball League Catch-All

An 0-9-1 last week dropped me from the third seed to the sixth seed, so I ended up in the same playoff slot I would have been anyway.

Now I just need Jorge Soler to continue his ridiculous start to his MLB career.

I've been dropping slowly but steadily in the standings since Week 1. Still managing my lineup but the outlook is grim.

FTFY.

You would have been a division winner.

I thank you

Ugh. And now I'm mired in a neck-and-neck race with Cronox just to advance to that next round.

I want to blame the Phillies or Yankees for my late season slide, but in all honesty, my pitching stunk. And apparently David Wright can't hit anymore.

I'm just glad your pitchers decided to take this week off as well or I would be well and truly gone already.

It looks like I've got 3 more starts this week and you have 2, so I guess there's a slim chance I could catch up on Wins & Ks, but there's no way I'm making up 5 saves. This one should go down to the wire. What's the Sunday night 8pm game?

San Francisco/Detroit

We are at the hump day of the League Championship week, and 10FE and I are neck and neck at 4-4-2.

Better late than never, but good luck! This already seems to be an epic Championship match!

I want in this league so bad next year.

And if it couldn't get any closer: 5-5-0

Unfortunately for me, I am the #2 seed, so for all intents and purposes, I am losing.

I was able to squeak into the final with a tie last week after losing a 100 point batting average lead and 10 run lead in 2 days.

Fun season everyone! After drafting Jarrod Parker the same day it was announced he was out for the season following Tommy John Surgery, I thought it would be a long season. It didn't help when I lost 2 of the 3 closers I drafted during the first week of the season, either. In the end, it couldn't have been a better season for me, though!

Is it too soon to talk about next season? I'd support a move to two dl slots if we vote on it again. Also, I think there was talk of changing the win pitching category to quality starts. I am behind it if that is still on the table.

Congrats on the win, it was a hard fought battle. I don't think I would have made it as far if I didn't win the bye week. I am hoping my money league pans out with slightly better results!

I will be back next season, I too am for 2 DL spots and for QS over wins. Maybe even both stats with an extra offensive cat.

Congrats on the win, and thanks for a great season everyone.

Add me down as another who would like a second DL spot and QS over wins.

Yep, another fun year—despite my late season collapse. Congrats to jonfentyler!

Obviously, I'm game for a second DL slot (I told you so ;)) and would be interested in making other scoring changes. OBP, perhaps?

+1 to Congrats to jonfentyler! And to another fun season.

I'll need to take a look back at stats for this season and last before I have a solid opinion on any specific rule changes. I do have to say I'm a fan of the Quality Start metric being used for fantasy purposes as opposed to Wins. I'm tentatively against the second DL slot since I like seeing more movement on the rosters over the course of the season.

Congrats, jon! Great season.

Sorry I was inactive for the last part of the season. I was completely burnt out. I'd be happy to hand the keys to a new commish and will drop from the league to make the spot available to someone who will be far more active than me.

Congrats on the win jon.

I am in favor of a second DL spot and using QS instead of Ws. I agree with Kush that maybe we can include another offensive category and make it 12 instead of 10, just to keep the wins!

I still prefer wins to QS. Using QS just feels wrong since it's just some arbitrary amount of runs and innings. Who really thinks pitching 6 innings and giving up 3 runs (a 4.50 ERA) is some how more "quality" than going 9 innings and giving up 4 runs (4.00 ERA and bullpen rest). Sometimes pitchers pitch to the scoreboard so if their team is leading by a lot then they may give up a couple more runs but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter since the team still gets the win.

I'd be fine with adding one more pitching and one more hitting category. I haven't given any thought as to what those 2 would be other than having both QS and Wins seems slightly redundant.

Had a fun year and look forward to next.

Once again, same thing could be said about a pitcher who throws 8 scoreless and gets a ND while another pitcher throws 5 innings, gets blasted for 7 runs, and gets the victory because the other pitcher was worse. I believe, while arbitrary, it is more of an indication of how the pitcher pitches, as opposed to how well a pitcher's offense is behind him.

Not to mention there is also the issue with wins being awarded to relief pitchers who blow saves/holds, or pitch a scoreless innings in a tied game, then have the offence score the following innings. Absolutely nothing to do with the way the pitcher played but it still counts for a win.
