GWJ Lawnguard: CS on 3-21

Pages

Good day, forum goers.

We're going to attempt to play older, loved MP games once a month. Knock the dust off, relive college, that kind of thing. But we're starting this whole process from scratch so if you have ideas, now is the time to bring them up.

February 2014: Unreal Tournament 2004
March 2014: Counter-Strike: Source
April 2014: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast (which I like more than academy but we can figure out which one in April)
May 2014: Battlefield: Bad Company 2

The pool:

Battlefield Bad Company 2
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
Unreal Tournament 3
CS: Source
Half-Life 2 DM (Toilet Toss)
Jedi Knight 2/ Academy
Sins of a Solar Empire

Out of the running for now:

Action Half-Life
Aliens vs. Predator 2
Counter-Strike 1.6
Insurgency
Quake 3 Arena
Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
Rise of Nations
Savage 2
Starcraft: Brood War
Tribes 1 or 2 (not that we know what that is)
Unreal Tournament
Unreal Tournament 2004
Warcraft 3
X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter

EVE

Oooo, I'd cast a vote for Unreal Tournament. Always a favorite of mine

I was hoping I could submit "Natural Selection 2" seeing as I was gifted that and have yet to play. I have none of the titles above except Unreal Tournament 2K4, so naturally that gets my vote.

UT would be fun I think. Especially since it seems to go on sale for a song fairly frequently.

Well we have a BF4 server and it could be configured for one night of Goodjer's only. It could also be passworded if needed.

UT3. Get people out of their comfort zone.

BC2 because I own it and it's the only thing on that list I'd want to play.

Seconded!

I figured you would say that, thanks =)

My issue with BF4 is that, even though it's absolutely wonderful and working now, it's still expensive for new people to purchase and if I want to play, well, all I need to do is actually show up on Thursdays.

Part of me isn't surprised that UT is taking an early lead. Good thing I didn't mention Jedi Knight 2.

Well for the record, I've spent 50 hours in the last two weeks playing DayZ as BF4 has worn thin on my list lately. I'd play BC2. BF1942 is free now and the Desert Combat mod is also free. That is also the only BF title that a user can host their own server and I'd be willing to set up a server for one night. How about Urban Terror? It's free, better than UT3, and just plain fun.

New vote: Jedi Knight 2.

That was SUPER fun last time.

So was Tribes but I'm not even sure what that is.

Mechwarrior Online?

Its on my list of games I want to play but don't have the time.

Good choice. I was not looking forward to getting sniped by you in BC2 again.

I'll put up another vote for UT. But I'll also hop in on BC2 or JKII.

YES!!! Let's crowdfund a server if we have to.

Just looked and it caps out at 8 players... bummer. Are the SW:Battlefront games cheap or even online still?

Let's get Certis to fire up his Red Orchestra 2 server.

Twinkle Star Sprites on Mame with network support screencasted.

I'll throw a vote in for BC2. What a great game.

I'd be down for BC2, Unreal Tournament ('99), or (and) Jedi Knight 2.

My vote as well. I just read about the huge battle that took place recently that stemmed out of a late rent bill for a space station that swelled into a multi-alliance build up of forces that destroyed thousands of hours of work / game-time progress is purchased and building the warships that attacked each other. It's incredibly fascinating to me.

Unreal Tournament: my favorite multiplayer shooter of all time. (I vote UT2K4, but UT works too). Aside from that...

...HEARTHSTONE! (trash will be talked)

+1 for the same reasons -if I were available more to play. I'm not sure if I would be able to commit to showing up. Would love to play some BC2 as I soured on BF3 pretty quick and basically gave up on the franchise, but loved jumping back into BC2 when I did.

I vote for UT2k4.

Leisure Suit Larry.

Toilet toss?

PvP Minecraft. >:)

Assassin's Creed multiplayer. It really is pretty cool.

If you have to go with some shooter, though, I pick UT3. Everyone will need to be caffeinated for that.

Shortlist updated in the OP. Some comments on some of the suggestions:

EVE: It's a 'playdate' not a 'play every day for a year and hopefully we get what's to love about the game.'
Hearthstone: I'm all for arranging a night for it but I think we need to do more than 1v1s for this.
AssCreed: If someone can find Brotherhood for $5 and purchase 20 copies to hand out, that would be great. I've been wanting to play it for literally years.
Toilet toss: In my experience, this gets old after a half hour or so. But I've been wrong before.

Time zones being what they are, I probably won't get the opportunity to participate, but if I could, I'd love some UT2k4!
