Let's talk anime.

Anyone else go to Otakon this weekend? Got a nice stash of One Piece stuff along with some other items. The Volumes of One Piece in the pic contain the chapter where Ace died and are signed by Ace's VA, Toshio Furukawa, and the item in the background changes its appearance to show Sabo, Luffy, or Ace depending on the angle you view it from.

I lol'd.

I'm working my way through Ghost Stories on Crunchyroll.

I watched a couple of episodes and found it weird, then I found out why it is so weird

It is often funny but fair warning the dub is from the early 2000's and some of the humor has not aged as well.

Is a Crunchyroll subscription worth it or does the free account carry a lot of anime? I don’t have many specific series I want to watch but would like to watch more than what Netflix and Hulu have available. To be honest, they seem like ads for Crunchyroll because they carry the first couple of seasons of some interesting series.

Free has everything but I think you wait a week or so on the new eps. You just get commercials on free.

I don't know if that is still the case, but back when I was watching stuff on CrunchyRoll regularly, it was worth it for me to get a subscription only so that I would not see the same ad over and over and over again.

Yea I tried the free thing a while back and gave up after seeing the same commercial 7 times in a row.

I hate watching commercials so I always go for the commercial free tier.

I had Hulu with ads at one point ( Cash! Cash Back! ), never again.

Made the mistake of rewatching Made in Abyss season 1 via the recap movies and I had forgot how traumatizing that series is. I don't think I'm in the right headspace to start season 2 which I hear is even more disturbing at parts. Any suggestions for more lighthearted fare?

I'd wonder if Bofuri is too lighthearted for you.

I love Bofuri

Yeah, how lighthearted are we talking here, Forlorn? Want something with a good, serious story that doesn't go to terribly dark places? Looking for a comedy of parody of the genre? Somewhere in between?

Lighter than "Made in the Abyss" is probably 90% of the anime out there.

Fair enough. I meant something more comedic like SpyxFamily which I just finished or Kaguya-sama which I'm currently making my way through the third season. Or a relaxing, chill slice of life type of show. Just have too much crap in my personal life so I can't handle the heavier shows right now.

I will definitely give Bofuri a go!

Ya Boy Kongming! has the most chill vibes of any show I've seen this year and it's not close.

It's hilarious, particularly if you play or have played MMO games.
