Let's talk anime.

One thing Log Horizon does much better than SAO is the guild names. All the SAO guild names are descriptive of the group. Black Cats, Knights of the Blood Oath, Laughing Coffin, etc.,. Debauchery Tea Party is exactly the kind of name I'd expect in a MMO. The best I'd ever seen was Orcs with Lasers pew pew pew.

I always loved funny guild names, or weird guild names. Folks who played on Blackhand may remember that one of the top raiding guilds was called Gwen Stefani, of all things. I can't recall any really funny ones at the moment, but there were plenty.

Funny guild names?

-And Two Stealthed Rogues
-CRY MOAR
-Just The Tip
-Fruit Vendor
-Get Rich or Die Grinding

The guild names in Log Horizon, when the series eventually gets to introducing them, are even better, but yet none come as close to awesome as "Debauchery Tea Party" does.

Man, Kill la Kill somehow keeps getting crazier and crazier.

I started watching Ace of the Diamond. It's a baseball anime, and made by Madhouse and Production I.G.

It's got most of the standard high school baseball story stuff, but instead of a lovable loser team, the team is one of Japan's powerhouse teams. The characters are pretty interesting, and the team is just crazy.

Unfortunately, the animation is just ok, despite being from two studios that are really known for their kickass production.

Just watched Dante's Inferno. I think they made a mistake with changing the art style for each circle of hell. I mean one moment he is skinny with long hair and the next he looks like a guy from Gears of War.

I'm actually really enjoying what I've seen of Hamataro. I've seen through episode 7. It's a shonen type anime that doesn't take itself too seriously. I find the humor to be very amusing.

Good lord, Funimation. Get your head out of your whatever.

Yeah, not terribly happy about it either. Still waiting on SAO to drop (if ever). If I recall correctly it has something to do with Blu-Ray videos being region free. Not sure if that is really the case though...

My guess is that it's likely imposed by licensing requirements, since that looks like Japanese DVD/Blu Ray pricing.

Edit: Which Eldon already said.

I don't know what Hamataro is, but I have decided that it is most likely about hamsters.

Yeh, it's definitely an easy watch. Each episode has enough going on that I leave satisfied at the end, and it's fun to look at. I kind of like how half the character textures, hair, clothes, etc use gradients. It's a very colorful show.

Also:

Spoiler:

It was a pretty bold move to kill off a main character already

On a side note, is anyone watching Space Dandy? I'll watch through to the end, but I'd say I disliked all but 2 of the episodes so far. It feels like they're trying too hard, and that they made this show trying to cater the adult swim crowd and humor, but the jokes never land. I liked the episode with the little orphan girl, but it felt like more of a nod at what that studio is good at and then went right back to being crap.

I think they could have done a lot with this show if they stuck with their guns. There is enough new stuff going on, the introduction of crazy new aliens and worlds, that I think with a little more work they could have tied it up into a real narrative structure instead of the format they're currently going for. The shows they make are already filled with one off story lines with an occasional narrative plot progression, and I think that format works amazingly. This just feels too disjointed. Maybe it would work if the one off episodes were actually good, but it's rarely the case.

They're not region free, but the U.S. and Japan are in the same region.

re: Space Dandy - I hated the 1st episode on Adult Swim but went online and watched the dub and it wasn't as bad. I've watched some episodes and I don't abhor it as much anymore. I also liked that episode but I think I've guessed what happens next:

Spoiler:

I bet that race ages quicker then humans and she will be back as a sexy looking adult to join the crew

In theaters around here tomorrow.

Kill la Kill - Far From the Madding Crowd was just amazing.

Hey. Thanks for recommending Steins;Gate, everybody. Loving it.

I'm not sure if this is old news, but my brother has informed me that there's an anime of Supernatural.

I haven't watched it, but he was pretty psyched.

Did you put this in the Supernatural thread? Careful the internet may explode!

I've added Witch Craft Works to my queue. Fun stuff!

So, Samurai Flamenco...

Spoiler:

All the result of accidentally getting the extremely rare wish granting power of the magic word Flamenco? This was not the explanation or payoff I wanted...

Even if the payoff wasn't great, I still think the end of Episode 7 will linger as one of the top 10 most memorable anime scenes of all time for me. Hard to believe there's still 4 episodes left!

Some NSFW language

Kuroko's Basketball is just so freakin amazing. I can't stop watching.

Apparently it's a great source of illustrated slash fiction, as well!

This goes for sports anime in general I've found; all the fangirls want to drool over yaoi versions.

AominexKuroko is hot.

Log Horizon is really bringing it in a "Whoa, that happened," sort of way. Mega spoilers.

[spoiler]
So. Not only does Ri Gan know what Shiroe did - he probably planted the idea in Shiroe's head and Shiroe kind of knows it. So the question is, what's Ri Gan's game? Is he also behind the World Magic cast in Minami, or is he racing against another Sage?

Not sure how much of the Festival episode was moe and how much was set-up. Establishing a love rivalry between Akatsuki and Minori feels like it could have a big payoff later on.

You are going to make me get a crunchyroll subscription so that I can keep up with the LogHorizon spoilers here aren't you... Damned 1 episode behind...
