GWJ OOTP League Thread

yeah, I need to pay more attention to the draft stuff next season. Almost every player the computer picked is extermely hard to sign.

That is really weird; my export didn't take either. My lineup changes I made were undone and my mail went back to unread.

I did get two of the players I hoped to draft (not at the top of my list, but further down), and it's really odd: everyone is making fairly reasonable demands except the bottom two picks, who absolutely suck but demand 2-3 million each. Screw that. I offered 'em each $50k and they can go take a flying leap if they don't like it.

Weird, my last two picks were the ones with crazy demands too. I just figured they were all fresh out of high school, all the others were just of of college. I did the same as you: "You want $3MM? How about $50K, you like that?"

Not sure about my export not taking; I did not change my lineup last week (when every one sucks, it's just shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic at some point). But I did notice the emails were unread that I know I read last turn.

New file! How was your draft?

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii....I completely forgot to even look at the draft. Well, guess I'll get what I get.

....yup, that didn't work out for me at all.

The simulator must look at all the garbage players and leave the ones that think they're owed a lot for the back end.

The no export thing affected me cause my lead off hitter is injured, and was replaced at the top of the lineup with someone that's hitting sub-.250. I went 2-5 this week, but maybe I would have anyway. Plus I figure I'll benefit from something similar some time so I'm not too worried about it.

My export also did not take. No biggie, had a decent week (in an otherwise disappointing season so far), but my new superstar Jesus Garcia went down for a long time. Blargh.

Oh sh*t, I'm sorry everyone, I think I must've hit sim without importing the files.

If anybody needs help at 1B, I'll listen to offers for either Harry Crosby or Dan Barber.

Ugh, my All Star RF Craig Peterson went on the DL today for 6 months, effectively ending his 2015 season. He has been a huge part of our offensive force ever since the inaugural season. I'm looking forward to getting some familiar faces back on the active roster, specifically SP AntoOio Palhas. Gotta stay ahead of those pesky Bostonians.

That said, CL/MR Greg Powell is still up for any reasonable deal, mainly looking for pitching prospects, 2 or 3 years out okay.

I dunno- I just got back two of my most lethal pitchers, and have a rookie who is already up to 4 1/2 stars in his first few months of the season. I've also still got two of my best outfielders and my best 2B on the DL scheduled to come back soon...

Okay, Portland is looking at offers for Rafael Rojas--a strong closing pitcher with 4 star potential.

Looking to fill a gap...Well, I guess pretty much anywhere. We're open to any offers at this time.

New file!

There is a file! I hear the storytellers say it is.... new?

It's actually been a pretty interesting season, roughly halfway through the proceedings. Boston is up three games over Pittsburgh and playing .600+ baseball, while Seattle has completely flipped the script in the NL West and already has a 9 1/2 game lead, along with the league's best record.

Charlotte is actually 3rd in their division, behind .600 teams New Orleans and Atlanta, both of whom seem to be dedicated to breaking Charlotte's stranglehold on the division. And San Diego isn't living up to our "best team in baseball" hype. They're 2 1/2 back of Dallas and just haven't clicked the way we thought they would.

As far as individual achievements, Brooklyn's Herman Cherry is within range of the single-season HR record, but he'll need to pick it up in the season's second half. Brian Burke is actually batting 40 points worse than last season, but because he's him, that means he's batting .388. We doubt he has the quality to sustain it, but credit to Atlanta's Ray Robinson and his 1.92 ERA so far (that 3.52 FIP means it's going to gradually climb upwards we'll bet). And three cheers to Brooklyn's 1B Joe Johnson, who is on pace to run away with RoY honors, leading all rookies in no less than seven categories.

Seriously, if I beat Charlotte year, then even if I don't make it to the playoffs that'll still be satisfying. They've needed to be taken down a notch or two for a while now!

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but being within striking distance of winning the SL East title is a real nailbiter for me. I'm sweating out every update!

Cherry, Garcia, Johnson (hey... Cherry Garcia!), we've put forward a much improved offense, but the record is not there.

If anyone has any #2, #3 starters they'd be looking to move, I do have some young talent here and there. Let's talk.

New file! The All-Star teams have been announced, which means the trading deadline is just a few short sims away. Hope you're all ready for the stretch run!

Oh, hey Denver finally gets someone in the All-Star game!

Blech. Messed up my DL assignments and I have my strongest hitter sitting idle for the next 20 days even though he has no injury.

'Course, that's the least of Portland's woes right now. And we had such a strong start to the season, too

Oh and Denver is (finally) back to .500. Although the way Seattle and Boston are playing, probably too little too late for the playoffs.

The Denver Baseball Atoms - "Too Little, Too Late"

Pittsburgh is in a bit of a free fall. Really lost our momentum since we lost Craig Peterson to the DL. My #1 SP is lost for the season too.
I feel we are still a reasonably strong candidate for the wild card spot but I hope we turn that ship around sooner than later.

Seems like we just updated to 13 but 14 preorders available.

Just tossing this out there.

I'm that team that has a good shot against the good teams, and craps the bed against the bottom feeders.

Hmm, the only stuff I'm feeling truly excited about there is the fielding development and player development tracking. Interested to see what the new depth chart looks like.

Wow, I am surprised and happy that my team is doing so well this season. It could all go to hell with no warning, but the ride up to this point has been pretty awesome.

LA would like to unload some players. Jack Graves 4.5 star Catcher is available along with RF McCauley, 1B Wally Metcalf and SP Tom Phillips.

Looking for young SP and/or prospects.

Sorry for the double post

New file.

Well, hello .500. It's been a while, how are things...?

Congrats! I can only dream of what that feels like. My 3 week stint of domination that saw me climb from 24th in power rankings to 19th has apparently ended and now I'm back down to 23rd.

New file! One next sim takes us past the trading deadline!
